  1. It helps that I took some time off work, haha. I'm hoping to keep up on working out once everything starts back up! I'll probably have to cut myself a little slack but I'm motivated to keep it up. In other news, I went and had lunch with a friend at some street taco carts today (2 for $1 tacos on wednesday!) and we went walking around. There is a Hostess factory here in Ogden that closed down when they went out of business that had a just-this-side-of-feasible way to access the roof (not to the point of being dangerous, though). I'm quite impressed with far my skills and creativity have come so far. That was my favorite climb yet and I'm hoping to find even more exciting ones!
  2. I had some late night errands to run last night, so I took advantage of being out on a Sunday night in Utah (almost every business is closed). I tacked on 8 new buildings to my climbing tally. I'm not sure what that brings me to total, but it's definitely over 20 at this point!
  3. Oh man, i'd climb that if it was nearby! Haha, I'm sticking with local buildings I can hit on my runs for now. Our baby came on the 13th and I had been working 13 hour days for the 5 days before that, so I juststared working out again. My butt is pretty sore! I'm hoping to get enough sleep one of these days to go on a morning jog, but the new baby has been denying my request thus far.
  4. Went running this morning and the right shin is still a bit painful, but not as bad as yesterday since it didn't actually inhibit my running much today. I'm hoping it's just some temporary tissue damage. I guess I'll see how it's faring in a couple days.
  5. Excellent advice, Nuala. I'm not going to be doing myself any progress favors breaking a leg! MID-CHALLENGE CHANGE-UP: Since I'm not sure of the extent of the damage to my right leg, I will be putting the flipping goals on hold until the pain subsides. They will probably become more long-term bonus goals that I will keep working on on the side rather than trying to force them through. New goal 1: Climb at least 20 buildings by the end of the challenge. (Not sure how many I've gotten so far, but I'm doing pretty well. I'll have to tally them up!) New goal 2: Rehab my plantar tendon to left foot daily (stretches daily, frozen water bottle massage after workouts). Goal 3 and life goal will remain the same. To go with my new goal 1, here's a picture of me with a rooftop Jesus statue!
  6. I actually think we might have a Tripod from a photography class ash was taking. Either way, I tried to go running this morning and am having concerning pains in my right shin that are lingering from my last flip attempts. I was hoping to have the flips down before the baby comes (which is now looking like next week), but I fear I may injure myself if I push it. Hmm, I will try some more when my leg stops hurting, but I may fail this challenge. Oh well, maybe I deserve some points for effort. After all, my goals may have been a little overly ambitious.
  7. Hmm, my side flip attempts today felt strange. Whether that means I'm doing them right or wrong, I'm not sure. I asked the lady to film me but she had other things to do today and didn't have time for my shenanigans. I'll assess my form when I can find a cameraman.
  8. Parkour this morning with some building scaling (and a billboard or 2, the look on a pedestrian's face when you hop off the ladder and jog past them is priceless!) After the morning frost melted, I decided to practice flipping. My form on the takeoff ground-punch is improving so I can almost always get the height now, which is a big step. I decided to try out a few side-flip attempts as well. Got surprisingly close the first couple times, but the impact is killing me on that left plantar tendon. I think the pain caused me to start over-analyzing, because my last attempt resulted in a total faceplant. I called it a day after that so I could clean the grass stains off my forehead. aside from being a little worse for wear, I'm happy with the progression. After all, I've only got to land one to mark it off!
  9. I haven't been online much since the lady has the computer all the time lately (last couple weeks of the semester for her, I'm actually on my phone right now). I've been doing a lot of building climbing and a few strength training sessions, though I skipped working on Sunday because of a ridiculous headache and full body soreness. Anyway, got back to it this morning and I'm feeling mostly better. Will probably do more flip practice on Thursday!
  10. I think there should probably be videos as well. I just have to convince the lady to film me and hope I don't botch the flip too bad on film, haha! Parkour this morning, it was all wet from a morning rain so nothing too crazy. I got in a bunch of sprints and a bit of climbing, so it was good. I'm having some painful plantar fasciitis in my left foot, though. Probably from cranking up the impact intensity of my workouts so much with all the jumping and flipping. I looked up some good ol' internet advice and am trying some stretching and ice massage to help it out. Luckily, my work has a bunch of physical therapists there so I'll ask them for some rehabbing advice on it as well. Might have to take it a little bit easier for a bit.
  11. Workout this morning: Bodyweight circuits (2 full, 1 half set) 30 Jumping Jacks 20 Squats 1 set up-2-down-1 stair jumps 10 jumps 18 pull ups 35 explosive push ups 15 hanging tucks 18 chin ups 35 offset dips 20 lying leg lifts
  12. Since I managed to complete my goal of learning to do a front-flip, I've gotta keep this gravy-train rolling! This challenge will be focusing on parkour and acrobatics. Goal 1: Back-flip: Learn to do a back-flip by the end of the challenge. Goal 2: Side-flip: Learn to do a side-flip by the end of the challenge. Goal 3: Anti-gravity: Continue to do regular strength training/parkour training to increase my jump height and skill. Workouts at least 3 times a week. Life-goal: Preparing for the great Lady Billith: The new addition to the family (fetus codename: Billith) is due May 20th! We are well underway getting things prepared for her arrival and that will be the focus of the next months. I will continue to practice various parkour abilities with the acrobatics, but I've been wanting to learn to do all this since my teenage years and am super-stoked to be this close. I think the back-flip will mostly just take getting up the nerve, but the side-flip will probably take a lot of practice. I guess I've got some more tutorials to watch this challenge! I'll also continue practicing the front-flip. I'm currently at about a 50/50 success rate, so I've gotta crank that up. I'm gonna make sure I really feel like an assassin!
  13. CHALLENGE WRAP-UP: End of challenge assessment! Goal 1: Strength train 3 times a week. Reach 40lbs with the weight vest by the end of the challenge. This will usually be circuit training, but can be substituted for other workout challenges if my week requires it. Success! The only strength training sessions I missed were due to scheduling or mild injury. And I have reached +40 lbs with my weight vest training. +4 Strength Goal 2: Sprints once a week. Do sprints intermixed with walking and jogging. No real parameters, just as much as I can handle. I've gone out to do some sprints (mostly now in the form of parkour) at least once a week. +3 Dexterity, +2 Stamina Goal 3: Continue to work on adding fruit, vegetables, and nuts to the diet. At least 1 piece of produce a day and keep nuts around for snacking. I've done well with the fruits and veggies this challenge, I think cooking a lot of vegetables with meals and having fruits stocked for snacking have just become habits now. I've also got an ample supply of various nuts to snack on. +3 Constitution Life-goal: Reduce the amount of electronic media my kids consume and increase their creative activities and physical activities. Current goal is that each child can choose 1 movie per day they want to watch. This goal was a success... On my part. I've realized that it's a 2 person job to guide the kids activities, and with the lady being in school still and VERY pregnant right now, things didn't go much differently unless I was home. I think it's bad timing right now. That being said, I have changed my own habits pretty well and the kids and I spent a lot of time playing outdoors during this challenge and we as a family have started playing a lot more board games together or playing with play-doh, coloring books, or paint. Though the reduction of electronic media is not as much as I wanted, the addition of positive activities went pretty well, so I'm calling this a success and a great step in the right direction. +3 Wisdom Bonus points!: I successfully managed to add front-flipping to my Assassin skillbook. +2 Dexterity Pretty successful challenge, I'd have to say! LEVEL UP!

  15. 4/6 - Weight vest workout. The legs were feeling sore, so I stuck to upper body today. For some reason I haven't been feeling 100% the past couple weeks and my workouts are reflecting it. Hmm, oh well, all I can do is keep it up through the rough patch and push it when I'm feeling good again. x1 circuit with weight, x2 bodyweight 13 pull ups 25 offset dips 13 chin ups 25 explosive push ups 15 hanging leg lifts 20 lying leg lifts
