Just getting out there will be enough to help ease your mind, I'm sure! Took me a bit to finally take the plunge, but I started free weights last month and I'm loving it. And if I can go back in there after what happened today, you can go in! I was having my daughter record me doing squats because some dude Saturday told me I wasn't keeping my back straight, and I wanted to have it recorded and have the NF Academy peeps look at it and give me form feedback, just in case. (dude kept trying to convince me to use the Smith so I could keep my back straight. No thx.) Anyway, having my fat ass on tape isn't my idea of a good time, so I was distracted. I forgot to set the side bars of the safety rack, which normally would be a bad idea from a 'just in case' standpoint but wouldn't ever be used anyway. So on the day I forget, while the demonspawn is recording me, on my final squat, I lose my balance, fall on my ass, and drop all the way to the ground with the frickin' bar. On the upside, I'm weak - so it was only 85 pounds. And I know how to fall so I managed to keep myself from getting too twisted up (and I've lost almost 100 pounds so it doesn't hurt nearly so much to hit the ground now as it did a year ago). And the lowest setting still caught the bar, albeit way lower than was warranted and safe. SOOOO embarrassing. I know people noticed, but as soon as they saw I was okay, they went back to carrying on with their day. I dusted myself off, realized I wouldn't have to use blush today (natural red glow now!), set the bars, deleted the video, and went back to lifting... Don't let it worry you! You've obviously got loads of gym experience with those stats. I'm living proof you can be a complete dumb ass and people won't care or make you feel like a jerk.
