  1. Working the Huskers Basketball game today

  2. This has been on my heart lately-John 6: 53-54: So Jesus said to them, "Truly, Truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the son of man and drink his blood, you have no life within you; he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day."
  3. My fiancé and I's wedding is coming up in May! It can't come sooner, but my first dress fitting is in a month, and I don't fit it right now.
  4. That takes me back, or was it forward?

    1. Basement Cat

    2. The King of Lame

      The King of Lame

      Or possibly to the side?

  5. Alright, so I am sure you have all heard of REM (Rapid Eye-Movement or dream sleep) and non-REM sleep, along with circadian rhythms or your biological clock. Each person has a different amount of sleep they need according to their biological clock, but most people need an average of 8 hours. This is because your rhythm can differ depending on how long you have been awake and how many times you switched from light to dark (which is why they say looking at tvs, phones, and commuters messes with your sleep). Now, there are four stages of sleep: 3 non REM, and the REM stage. 1) About 5 mins, Muscles slow 2) 10-25 mins, first real sleep 3) Deep Sleep, restores body 4) REM is where you Dream, restores the mind *Depending on what you need, you will spend different amounts of time in each stage, but every whole cycle takes about 90 minutes total. You will have 4 to 6 cycles depending on your biological sleep cycle. (You will probably need 6, 7 and a half, or 9 hours of sleep. Most are 7.5, and use more or less of 30 mins to fall asleep, hence 8 hours) You may feel unrested if you wake up in stage 3 or 4 (like when you sleep too long and feel groggy, even when you got more sleep). To avoid this, set your schedule up so your sleep is in 90 minute increments, with some time to spare to fall asleep. My roommate taught me this, but there is also this handy site about it: http://www.helpguide.org/life/sleeping.htm
  6. Thanks guys. Barfly, while you can't consistently expect more than 2lbs a week, I heard you can loose up to 5 healthfully if you loose the 1 lb by calorie intake, some by water (since you loose water weight as a beginner), and the rest by exercise. So is it bad to shoot for that 5 lbs? ( I mean, it probably is for me, since that made me sick, but...)
  7. So like most people who want to loose weight, I want to do it as quickly as possible! So I ate right (and enough), did P90X with my brother, and did Pilates-only to land on my face. I could only keep it up for 4 days, then I got sick, and I'm recovering and working back up to 100%. So where is the happy medium? How did you find yours? -Cleric
  8. Noticed when updating my profile that these times need to be switched. That is all. -Cleric
  9. Congrats! I am at 175 right now, so I know your struggles-keep it up!
  10. I found pilates to be helpful while in prison-I mean college....while this girl may be a bit hyper/perky, she knows her stuff: http://www.blogilates.com Also, the only way to get rid of calf muscle is to not use it. But you shouldn't be concerned about it, since as you loose weight you loose it from all areas of your body. When you build muscle that is tone in other areas, your calves will not look bad in the least! I mean, when was the last time you saw a fit girl and said, "Man, look at those bulky calves!". When you are getting fit, it is best to do it at all angles. You cannot reduce fat in spots, but from your whole body, but you can gain muscle in specific areas. Hope this helps! Hope that prison-break plan goes well!
  11. Did a P90X workout with my brother-has anyone done P90x?

    1. Ba'sini'on

      Ba'sini'on

I did for three months, it really works you out but I didn't stick with it because it's to long. Now I do HIIT and running, I just like being outside :-)

    2. JPoissonify

      JPoissonify

I have done it in the past, but due to the 60 minute work outs I typically didn't stick to it. But I started doing P90X3 two weeks ago- Its similar program but only 30 minute more intense work outs. I haven't skipped a workout due to time issues.

  12. I am sorry to hear that you are having troubles in this area. I am sure that is frustrating. Now, I am no doctor, but for marriage prep we went through Natural Family Planning classes. It goes over the temperature/thermal, cycle, and mucus methods. There are also three other methods as well, but the look at these three methods, and the fertility monitors are based off of these. While I am not married yet, and haven't tried for a baby yet, three of my friends have had great success with it, including being warned of a hormone imbalance by just looking at how off her charts were. Our teachers also had problems with infertility until they found she had a disease, which was curable, but made her cycles weird. They found out what the disease was through her charts and an NFP doctor. I believe you said you were charting already, so I would advise you to look for a doctor trained with NFP. We all learned these methods from the Couple to Couple League: http://ccli.org/ A great book is: Fertility, Cycles, and Nutrition by Marilyn M. Shannon (4th Edition): This goes over nutrition that is fertility-specific, as well as symptoms of various reasons you may not be fertile, which you can determine from your charts and a doctor. The Art of Natural Family Planning (Student Guide, Second Edition) was our main source of learning the methods, after the teachers who taught us. I sincerely hope you look into this, as it has helped so many who have used it! Good luck!
  13. Day 1 was good, and went alright, but today I got a little pounded. I haven't done anything noteworthy yet, and tried on my wedding dress again that doesn't fit. I'm a bit flustered, but this too shall pass! I just need to keep at it I guess. Get something in today, even if it isn't very good, and continue onto the next battle after a recovery. I need it.
  14. Also, if you give up I will be compelled to post the 'Do you want to build a snowman' (it's like you've gone away) song
