  1. http://www.brinkzone.com/videos/why-you ... ness-gyms/ PF posted this on their facebook page with: I find it interesting.. I go there and hate the place but it is all I can afford in my budget anyway and the only other gym near me is Work Out world.. which is super commercial and they charge you extra to go to classes (on top of the super expensive annual membership).
  2. anyone else using this to track food and exercise?
  3. Its been up and down for me.. after seeing my Personal trainer yesterday and getting a super hard work out (we did some strength training, he checked my form on some of the moves i use a lot, did conditioning, ran on the jacobs ladder for 3 minutes, and also did some new moves i hadnt tried before) I felt super motivated. I did my incline Dumbbell bench presses with 20 pounds weight and he said he could see a huge improvement. I am not as shakey as I was previously.n very controlled movements.
  4. I have not tried the 100 pushup challenge though that may be something I do in the future. Might be a nice thing for me to try over the winter. Its been rough tracking cake and such for my birthday this week but I have tracked everything. I have eaten probably closer to 1400 calories per day instead of 1200 that I was eating previously when I was keeping track. This week has been a pretty good week for the gym. I have gone twice and ran twice so far. I have done a couple sets up pushups everyday.
  5. rock and shock up in worcester Mass. I was in the elevator of the hotel we stayed at with Danny TRejo.
  6. Sorry guys I was at a Horror Convention all Weekend and my birthday is Tuesday. I had been very sick all week between experiencing pain at the beginning of the week (I am pretty sure I had a Kidney Stone) and then mucusy fun allergy stuff.. though I got totally back on the wagon while I was away and managed to keep up my fitness while I wasnt the hotel.
  7. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=1062 I can deal with being a ninja
  8. ohai! Turelliax is back for another challenge. I need something to keep me grounded since I have been slacking lately and that 10 year high school reunion is coming up after thanksgiving. 1. TRACK MY FOOD EVERYDAY NO MATTER IF I MAKE BAD CHOICES. I have been making a lot of poor eating choices lately. I am going to continue tracking on myfitnesspal android app and continue with 1200 calories per day. 2. I have been slacking on the cardio interval training. I am going back to 6 days a week cardio. 3 days interval 3 days running. I also have to find my next 5k to do. 3. Do a set of pushups 3-5 times per day. I really want to get better at doing regular push ups. My trainer said my form was good but I can only do 5-10 in one set depending on how tired my muscles are. 4. I am going to try leveling my life by finding an activity to do that will help introduce me to other people. I have lived in this area my whole life and I find it hard being a married woman with no kids to meet other women without kids who want to hang out. Finding other like-minded people to hang out with would surely level up my life in a big way.
  9. WEdnesday I am going to check out one of the skate practices. They mostly just skate and skate and skate I am wondering how much exercise this will be and how much fun it would be, anyone tried it?
  10. Because I do all my tracking on my droid I use myfitnesspal. Its a pretty good database fo strictly calories but doesnt give me a breakdown of the nutrients and fats and stuff that I am eating. I might try dailyburn when they release the android app.

  12. I have been following the Couch to 5K on facebook and have been reading a lot of the pro tips. I also mix a lot of interval training with regular Steady State Cardio.
  13. http://blog.dailyburn.com/android-update/ At least they are working on it. I also meant to say maybe at some point in the future Steve could add a Tech forum on here? Where people can discuss Apps and gadgets that are fitness related?
  14. so I ran my third 5k sunday (4th Race total.. since the slat race I ran was a 5 mile not a 5k) and I was a little bummed. I was really hoping to beat my last 5k time (28:03) and instead came in Place Div/Tot Div Guntime Name Age Sex Bib Nettime Pace 148 12/52 F2029 28:52 Melissa F 27 F 660 28:26 9:10 so I was a little heartbroken. I know I havent been feeling well but I also hadnt been training as hard as I was. Not that I want to be a marathon runner one day anyway. What I want from my Fitness is a balance of strength and cardio and be happy with me. I guess I just need to shrug it off and say yeah it wasn't my best game but I can always do better at the next. I know I made a few mistakes (if my mapmyrun app was correct i ran my first mile in a little over 8 minutes) and i bumped into someone around mile 2 who i used to work with and i talked to her for a good minute. I just felt the need to share since I wasnt doing the challenge this time around.
  15. anyone else playing this yet? I really like it so far. Very Hack and Slash and awesomely fn. Its an MMO. Feel free to add me if you are: turelliax
  16. if you saved that ten dollars a month you could probably afford a power rack, a barbell, and some plates within a year.just sayin' I live in a small Apartment... I don't really have the room for it. Plus I won't work out at home. I have a total Gym, Some small free weights and plenty of DVDs. I need to be out of the house to exercise I wont do it at home. It is too easily distracting.
  17. I actually do go to a Planet Fitness. I hate it but its $10 a month. I do do Deadlifts and have not had anyone yell at me for it. They also ban certain types of clothing. I think it depends on your gym. I actually won my Very own Lunk Alarm from a Contest on FAcebook. Pf in theory is supposed to be an "Average Joe's Gym" (remember the movie DodgeBall?) unfortunately It comes a cross as not quite that. I really am ready to move on to 70 pound deadlifts myself but how do I do it when we don't really have any weight lifting equipment? The Floor Area is pitiful Small and the Free weights aren't all that impressive either. They pride themselves on having Ab Machines and such and see no rush in getting equipment Fixed when it is broken. I have actually watched some of the Personal TRainers and you can really tell most of them are nowhere near as knowledgable as the PT I see (it is in a seperate Personal TRaining Gym). As for Bagel Tuesday and Pizza Friday (one night a month) I personally don't see it as bad as long as someone does it in Moderation buuuuuut most of the People who go to PF generally aren't very knowledgeable and/or working very hard. The only other Gym option for me is a Place called Work Out World and they are 5 times more expensive If you want to do classes they charge extra for those). Oh and PF also Offers Tanning and Massage chairs for after your work outs. (thos silly virbating recliner things).
  18. Orthotics work for some people as well as proper footwear. Yeah seeing your GP is perfectly acceptable I would just make sure to see a doctor.

  20. there are a lot of options for People with PF including things like orthotics and what not. definitely seeing a doctor is the best bet. Call them ahead of time and see how much it will cost you without insurance. Working in a Shoe Store I see all sorts of feet issues but its always best for a doctor to diagnose and treat them. Your feet are serious business.
  21. Stiff Leg Dead Lifts and Bicycle Crunches. Those are my two favs.
  22. ding ding! im going to check out a few more this weekend. i already have a gym with a decent weight setup that i have for free, this other gym is just for convenience on weekends, but i'd really like more room in general because with my routine i typically get in people's way. i've honestly been thinking of seeing if theres just a gymnastics gym in the area that i can use a room... i don't NEED weights as I have them already, but the lady downstairs from me hates it when I do any sort of plyometrics in the apartment i'd LIKE to have a gym close by with cardio machines for weekends, but I have a month or two before it starts snowing and I really need to think about that... This thread makes me both happy and sad. Happy for spezzy being such a kick-ass and knowledgeable chick, sad for the state of our gyms and the people that occupy them. -Steve I am most definitely not staying at Planet fitness after my year is up. I don't like the atmosphere. Though the morning crowd is better and more motivated I just feel like they push a lot of half ass workouts. Even when I watch some of the PTs work with the clients they don't always look that into it. I wish I could just afford personal training 3 times a week ( ) since i love the knowledge my trainer gives me. He is so amazing at answering questions and explaining what muscles work what and what benefits I am going to get from a certain move.
