  1. So far so good, the first week went just fine. I've got the first 141 pushups in the can from the first 3 workouts (it's a little low but it'll pick up this week) and I ended up with a 4727 calorie deficit for the week. The only part of my challenge I didn't make any progress on was my power rack & platform but my weekend was tied up with a woodworking seminar. A fun thing happened there while working on one of our projects it came time to bore a 1.25" diameter hole through 3.5" of cherry with a brace & bit and I was the only one there who could turn the brace all the way through; everybody else had to ratchet their way though it. It made me wish I was wearing suspenders so I could've done that cool move where you tuck your thumbs in and stroke them a bit.
  2. That game is still around? I used to play that quite often a few years ago; I was always impressed by how good that was for a free game.
  3. That's pretty much the only reason it's in there; I was daydreaming and doing some math figuring out how many pushups would get done and it was 800 and something and I thought 1000 had a much better ring to it
  4. Yeah I'm already thinking I may have to drop & give myself 20 every so often in order to make sure I hit that mark...
  5. It's been a while since I've done a challenge so I'm looking to get back on that horse. Since the last challenge I did I've lost almost 40 lbs but I've noticed I'm slowly slipping back into old habits so it's time to knuckle up and re-focus. Main Quest: My long term goal was and still is to lose weight, get healthy, and feel better. To keep working towards that end my primary goal for this challenge is still going to be to lose weight. I don't want to put too specific a number on it and get myself into trouble but I'd be happy to drop anywhere from 5-10 lbs in these 6 weeks. To accomplish this I'm going to keep my methods nice & simple: Workout 3 days a week - primarily a bodyweight routine. Do 1000 pushups (an average of 55.5 per workout). This one is just to have something fun to track; it's a little less than I'm doing per workout now but the idea is to pass that and be doing more in the second half of the challenge Track my calories everyday and maintain a calorie deficit of at least 4k every week. I'm going to shoot for a 5810 calorie deficit; if my math is correct a 5810 cal/week (830/day) deficit should produce a 1.66 lb weight loss per week which would get me around that 10 lb mark after 6 weeks. 10 lbs isn't the goal, the weekly calories are so the weight loss will be whatever it ends up being. Side Quest: After looking around for 6 weeks I've finally tracked down a barbell and set of plates so I won't be limited to bodyweight/dumbbell stuff anymore. Before I can use them though I'll need a rack and platform, which I'm going to build. I looked around, did some research, and Gainsdalf was quite helpful with locating plans for a homemade rack & platform so by the end of this challenge I am going to have those built. Looking forward to this, good luck all!
  6. I am Magnus Hjalmarson (which means great helmeted warrior), you? I laughed for a solid 20 minutes when I lost my exploration ship to a gate camp an hour after I logged in again for the first time. It was such a nice "welcome back" lol
  7. I kinda wish I hadn't seen this thread. But I did and now my account is reactivated...
  8. This. I'm in a similar boat and I think of it this way; Thanksgiving is the one day a year that I eat turkey, stuffing (my absolute favorite), mashed potatoes, gravy, etc so I just let myself have it that one day with the expectation that I'm back on the horse the next. Even if you go overboard it's nothing that can't be burned off in a week as long as you don't let that one day turn into 2, then 3, and so on. A day or two isn't going to significantly affect your weight loss/strength gains as long as it's only a day or two. As far as the snacks go I usually volunteer to bring some myself, then I know I'll have something for me and others are welcome to it as well.
  9. Gainsdalf did you build that rack in your video? I'm looking at options and building one might be a fun little project
  10. I can't second this recommendation hard enough. These are probably the most fun fantasy books I've read.
  11. Just started No Country for Old Men and I'm a little surprised how close the movie adaptation was (at least the first 40% or so). I'll have to watch the movie again after I finish it.
  12. That's awesome! Now off to google to see if there is any of this in Minnesota...
  13. Aw man, why does this have to come along when I'm trying to quit video games? Gauntlet is one of my all-time favorites and this looks fantastic...
  14. Yeah back then tables were really the only option available except for (hahahaha) frames.
