  1. Hmmm, I must type happily or something, because I kinda thought yesterday sucked. XD But you guys... all this "positivity" and shit. Jeez. It happened. And I'm suuuuuper glad for that. Didn't want to deduct points! Haha. Well it seems like I was used to it before I started this challenge! Haha. My first workout of this set was post midnight. *shakes head* =) Yeah man. We'll see. I'm looking forward to the free food three meals a day. =D Fuck yeah. There's a time and a place. And a snowy, empty parking lot is the place any time for such shenanigans. =D Thanks guys. =) Somewhat disappointing update for today: my freakin' back is definitely displeased with front squats (I assume, unless it was my overhead press). I'm going to be mindful of that shit on Monday, and there's a probability I'll be on that trip for the next two scheduled workouts, so maybe I'll just count those as rest days or something... Blah. BUT LIFE IS GOOD. ;D Hosting some friends tonight from out of state. I love those guys.
  2. I could give a fuck about the dietary restrictions, but I'm genetically blessed and trying really hard not to care about diet this challenge because it's not on the list. Haha. So, that's a no for me on allergies/etc. =D
  3. Ha, that complex looked like a lot of fun actually. Hmm... count me inspired. =)
  4. Good news. =) Feeling right about your choices is often more important than the rightness you've decided to impose on one choice or another, I find. =) Week three should be good, yeah? =D
  5. Nicely done sir. It's good to see this work. I feel like I post the same shit every time, but then I go and see everyone else doing the same thing and I remember! This is how progress is made.
  6. Hoooookai. That was a whacked out Friday. Nothing bad, just... mostly unexpected. Anyway: For work... I really faffed about, though there wasn't as much sit-down-and-focus work to do, so I didn't exactly lose time to permitting myself to Google Talk on my phone and whatnot. 3/5 XP for that. I emailed myself tasks for Monday just now. It got done, but late. 2/3 XP for that. And I didn't do any source check-in's... even though there wasn't any programming to do, so I guess I couldn't have actually earned those points. I'm not sweating it, though. 0/2 XP there. I found out I'll probably be flying to Florida on Wednesday morning, which used to be something I enjoyed quite a lot. Without getting into awfully much detail (this is a public forum after all) I like our customers down there, so I don't like going down because they're upset with us. We'll see how it goes, though. On a much brighter note, after I stressed about that and talked it out with my friend at work (who's been there six years to my 1.5 years) I paced about, closed my eyes, and willfully expelled the anxiety from my body. Pretty cool shit in that it actually worked. =) Then I sat down with a piece of hardware that I bought for platform research months ago but haven't been able to make time for. We're going to use it as a test bed for some new stuff and I'm super excited about it. So, I started nerding about with that and spent the rest of the night thusly occupied. When I finally left work at around 8pm, the parking lot was empty and enough snow had fallen that I was able to do some pretty insanely aggressive doughnuts and sliding about via handbrake mechanics. And my little diesel sounds pretty badass when you wind it up (though I've still got the particulate filter on mine... I won't take that shit off for "performance" in a damn FWD sedan) so that made it extra fun. Then my workout... per custom, apparently, I didn't get to it till 2am. But! It happened "on Friday", meaning before I slept. ;D So! Full points there. Front Squat: 5x5@145lbs - Upped the weight here and was glad for the extra challenge. I also didn't hurt either wrist in the process, so my experimental warmup must've done some good. Noted. Overhead Press: 5x5@85lbs - Also upped the weight here after figuring out some more technique. It's crazy how big of a difference it makes to get the bar straight above your head/behind your spine as early as possible after clearing your forehead. Pullups: 5x5 - I wanted to remind everyone that I'm not doing real pullups. =D I'm doing the best I can manage in my tiny basement, so I'll probably wind up doing 5x5 with no measurable progress until I'm doing 25 fully piked pullups. I such the lofty objectives. I skipped the lower back exercises again with a cautious instinct, and I'm glad I did. This morning, my lower back is a little more talkative, but it's nothing to be worried about. It's not like it's getting a break with squat and front squat 3x/week. When it feels healthy again, I'll add hyperextensions and glute bridges back into rotation. I've got plenty of time to permit a full recovery, what with this challenge being 13ish week challenge and all. =) So, day 17, 10 XP STR and 5 XP WIS. Now, on to that book of mine... >.>
  7. Yeah. I prefer being uncomfortably cold to uncomfortably warm any day. Blankets, motherfucker. =D
  8. =D Restedness (and nourishment) is the foundation of success! ...Unless you're a fan of cocaine. But that success is a little more temporary, I'd imagine. >.>
  9. Ahhh rock climbing. I'm very interested in that in a general sense. =) We'll see if I ever choose to pursue it. Good luck in the coming week. Last week sounded rough, but you'll pull it off this week in one form or another. Looking forward to hearing about your progress!
  10. Your workouts always sound like such fun. =D
  11. So, next element: timing. If you have to leave mid-afternoon, Jess, I assume we should plan to be actually rolling by about noon to make sure we have time for everyone to get their lifts in. How does a kickoff time of roughly noon sound to everyone? Matt, I have no idea if we'll still be actively anything by 4pm (assuming it'll take you ~45 minutes to get in from Rosemont) but it's entirely possible. So yes... thoughts on timeframe for those with restrictions?
  12. Yeah, it was definitely special the night before when I was out shoveling. That kind of, "Yeah, put a hat on you moron, or I'll freeze your ears off," sort of special cold. ;D
  13. Oh that's definitely obvious. Way to go, hahaha. The most hedonistic rewards are the beeeeeeeeest rewards. =D
  14. Hooray. =D FA - You're a motherfucking hero for bringing food. F'real. =) <3
  15. Major will be when I'm still dumping hundreds on it every month but my minimum is zero. =D Yesterday was fun numerically but really, double the minimum on a merciful credit card isn't all that impressive. Still, though; momentum! Hooray! =D Fuck yeah. That's why it's part of this challenge. it's a little bit of a gimmie since my ratio will improve if I just pay my bills, but it's still a super useful baseline for future performance. =)
  16. Once you get your paperwork sorted with the VA, they're breezy, in my experience. <3 Good luck!
  17. Mmmmm... Olive oil and garlic... two of my favorite things... =D *hazy hunger fog of imaginings*
  18. YES! Yes indeed. Excellent news. =D Way to take this shit by the horns.
  19. Simon - Correct. matt - What's your schedule looking like? We might be able to lift at a time that works for you. FA - Should we chip in for chili/are you comfy making a batch that'll serve four to six? =)
  20. Niiiiice workout. I freakin' love glute bridges. I do them flat on the floor with 61kg across my lap. One of the hardest single movements I know how to do under weight, haha. Keep that momentum going! =)
  21. Big congratulations on achieving a proper role in your business endeavors. This is that good shit. ;D
