  1. Yeah, what courtniemarie said. You could be in the nicer areas near the theater/ financial district but real people don't actually live there. The good news is that it is definitely on a T line and easy to get to Fenway without hiking it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. I'm going to try to take the little sis with me!
  3. Ok so my updates aren't happening too regularly. Life got busy. (But did you know that getting lead paint removed from a house is pretty much impossible???) Have done more running than anything else. Yesterday and today did my 3.6 mile loop. Yesterday's splits were 10:40. Today's... 9:50. What?! Thrilled is all I can say. That being said, I'm eating well and have decided that Fridays will be the day I eat whatever makes me happy and then I can get back on track for the rest of the weekdays. My sleep goal is just a disaster. I've started napping in the afternoon and expecting 5-6 hours at night. Which seems to work. I get 7-8 that way and even though it's not all together I feel like it works. So that's my challenge wrap up. Lost no weight, got some lifting gains and can now run better. Sleeping is apparently going to be a long term work in progress. Life quest house edition is about 3 weeks away. (I think). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Good food day. Decent sleep although allergy season means I'm sleeping next to someone who sneezes in his sleep. This, while fascinating, is rather obnoxious. Workout today was pretty fab. Benched 100 and squatted 165. Both for 3 reps (I don't take chances of injury when I'm doing a weight the first time). Then I ran 2 miles at 10k pace on treadmill. While I hate treadmill running, it does force me to work on speed, which I won't do if I'm on the roads because I slow to smell flowers a lot. (Yes, I'm very distractable). 5. Ok! It's Sunday and I had two terrible food days... But they were yummy. No regrets. Deadlifts got up to 145 Friday. Did my 21PLP with one real pull-up and 20 neutral grip. (Gonna try to build more of those too). Did my 5k loop (which is more of a 6k because I always train a half mile longer than I need to be able to do) in 40 min (10 of which were walking due to some very upset stomach). I'm happy with it. I like running and when it feels good I love it. Today I loved it. House closing is coming soon. Mission of the week is to figure out lead paint abatement. Also to take some certification exams in CT so I can get hired here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Spin class Monday too. Same instructor. Tuesday no workout. Today weights. Got my first wide grip pull up!! Definitely did a happy dance in the meathead section of the gym and didn't care. Sleep has been better for 2 nights. Not 8 hours but a solid 6.5. Food? Eh. I'm eating clean and carefully. I feel good so it's all right. The house has me stressed. Bf is all worried now (not a month ago mind you) about the renovation costs. And it's driving me nuts. This is not a happy relationship. I'm trying to be healthy and he's not on board. 😞 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Got up for an early spin class today (well.. 1030am is early on a Sunday). And doesn't the instructor walk in, remove her RACE NUMBER, and proceed to do a killer class. come to find out, she had just run a 10k with 6:50 splits and finished first (of the women). I just had to say that because I'm seriously in awe of her. Oh and she's nice too. I would love to be able to do ONE 6:50 mile... Back to my challenge. Slept badly. Failing at goal #3. Food today is good. I'm losing weight (body fat too so it's good). I can't do restrictive diets because I get crazy so I'm settling with weight watchers recipe and making sure to eat all the optional points and exercise ones back... So I'm not too underfed as I was before. With veggies being free, I'm actually eating quite happily. Me and my food issues may be quieting down. Thank god!! Have sent in my numbers for house financing. Sure hope it is all good. Only have 3 weeks left to close. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Omg update... Busy week! Ran on Sunday and Saturday. Both felt horrid. I'm seriously out of shape. No workouts MTW due to a paper needing writing. Today lifted. Bench felt great.. Upping my reps at lower weights to try to push through this plateau. Got my 18 PLP in... Did complex barbell exercises (Russian Deadlift, bent over row, good mornings, backsquats. 5 each all no rest. 4 sets at 50lb). Food has been good. I'm using weight watchers again (guilt) but I find that since they don't count veggies I'm good because all I count is protein/fats. I'm not sure if I'm losing but I feel better. Sleep = terrible. House needs 10000$ worth of new electrical. There goes the nice little pellet stove I wanted .... And the picket fence.( yes I actually want one of those.. Corny). Back in budget. Breathe. Ok. Applied to a job that is down the street from the house. Hope to get it. Or at least an interview. It's tenure track at a CC. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I'm impressed that you can get your carbs that low. I eat piles of veggies and they seem to always bring my carbs higher. I like your method of a 2 week drop though, as a way to cut cravings. Cheers to you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Geez! 23km is a nice long run! Excellent that you're feeling great through it. I aspire to that sort of run-strength. Looks like you're chipping away nicely at the goals... The galaxy may well be destroyed in weeks to come. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Wow. So here's a big update. Thursday did a little 5k run. Not fast, but it was warm so it felt good. Friday rested. Today probably going to lift but not sure. Have some serious DOMS from Wednesdays Deadlift/squat/pull-up burnout. Diet is interesting. I'm limiting calories to figure out what is most effective at keeping down hunger but still trimming for my summer wardrobe (which has become about 2 sizes too small). I don't care about scale weight but want to be strong and sculpted. Have slept like a dead woman the last 3 nights. Not 8 hours, but solid rest. Feeling amazing. House owning becoming more real: got one of my three renovation estimates and it's right what I expected. (I gave a super wish list and the fact that it's not prohibitively expensive makes me SO happy I have been dancing.). It was my schools international heritage fair last night (I teach English and French) and my students were fabulous. It made me remember why I love inner city kids. They're hard, but once they know you care they put their hearts into it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Rested yesterday too. Did squats, deadlifts and 10-9-8 pull-up dip and crunch sets. 17 PLP (I'm seriously killing these but I still can't do a pull-up that isn't neutral grip.) Diet is ok. Reassessing right now. I've gained another 5 lb so I think I might be overeating because it is definitely not muscle! I'm going to cycle calories down on no-workout days and hope that balances me a little. My clothes don't fit. I'm contemplating going back to weight watchers because i know I can get control that way.... But god do I hate that. Sleep goal is going better.. But I'm still nowhere near 8 hours. Natural calm is good for my belly but isn't making me sleep. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Been keeping my carb count down, which is having an effect on my total calorie intake. Making around 1600 a day, which feels acceptable. Workouts : yesterday did a 3.8 mile jog. Slow and steady. Today is a rest day. Body is asking for it. Sleep hasn't been good, although Saturday into Sunday was ok. (Stayed in bed REALLY late). This morning.. Not so much. First day back to work after April break was rough. On the life quest... Have selected the kitchen appliance dream team. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Your burpee workout sounds like something I would do.... When I'm doing something I hate, I do a lot of them... Like pull-ups, dips and planks... Counting down. I've never added squats tho. Thanks for the idea!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Working on macros now. 1800 cal seems good but isn't getting me the physical results I want. Going to cut carb count ( which has been kind of high -around 250-300) to 150ish and see if that helps. Did spin class yesterday and a jog/run 5k today. Sleep was spotty til the bf got home last night. Then it got better. His cuddles seem to help me rest. Corny right? Hoping to get a good rest tonight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
