It's time for me to report in on my first week of new goals: Focus in homemade foods - two meals out, B Do something worth talking about - last week I watched all of a mini-series called The Ultimate Guide to the Presidents which surveyed the office and the men who've held it since Washington. It was really interesting and well done!! I was especially interested to learn more about the tension between Congress and the Executive branch, and also to realize how little I actually knew about the recent Presidents since I mostly remember them from sensational news stories. I think I'm going to try to re-memorize them all in order to regain a middle school skill. Pass Lose some weight - I used this week to get a baseline for where I am now, so first progress next week. 0 points I had a fun first week, I think I can do even better this week!!   14. Hello everyone!! I am alive (despite those nasty comet rumors you may have heard...) I've actually done about 50/50 with my original goals. We ended up doing 20 days of W30 until a friend came home from deployment and we decided it was a good time to loosen up. I've done great on chores and am mostly set up for school. Obviously I have failed miserably in spending time checking in here!! I've done some thinking today ... Very dangerous. I've work 80 hours in the past 9 calendar days. It's been somewhat like this since early November, and I have used it as an excuse to make a priority of absolutely nothing else. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy working hard and I am glad to be respected and depended upon at work; I get a lot of satisfaction from that. Today I finally took some time off to think and it occurred to me that frankly that isn't ALL I want to be, especially at 26. So, I started thinking about who I would like to be, what kinds of traits I'd like to be known for. Here is the short list: 1. An excellent, thoughtful cook 2. Easy to talk to, with knowledge on a variety of subjects and good listening skills 3. Driven, dependable, and a leader at work 4. Has self-control with food and money without being a wet blanket 5. Easily confident, takes good care of herself 6. Hospitable and flexible with friends and family So let's call that list my new "main quest." My goals will help me work toward one of those items. I will work in goals as long as it takes me to master (or irrevocably fail) them, as opposed to a hard 6 weeks. 1. Cut back on eating out - focus on eating only homemade foods (1, 4, and 5) 1 or fewer meals out/week = A 2 = B 3 = C 4 = D 5 or more = Fail 2. Do one thing worth talking about each week (examples - read a book, watch a documentary, try a new walking trail, try something new, attend a concert, play, or event, etc) (2) Done = A Not done = Fail 3. Lose some weight (4, 5, 6) This is the kind of goal I would probably tell someone else to tweak for being too vague, but let's consider it a "figuring it out" goal for now. It does work well with the other goals. 1 point per pound I feel like this is do-able. My biggest commitment right now is to find more time to update here. Being involved in this community has been huge motivation and an important success factor for me. Also, RAWR!!!! Also also, food tax. I have weeks of photos for you... I'll post them once I get tapatalk on this phone.

  17. Holy injury, Batman!! A broken kneecap?!?! YOUCH!! I'm glad the "mix it up" dieting is still working. I admire you for trying to keep wellness in mind while you're dealing with an injury (and probably lots of other real life, too.)

  21. Hello again, Scouts! This Challenge marks my anniversary at NF, but it's been a few months since I have been worthy of a level-up. I've been majorly busy IRL, and have not made a priority of fitness. Like many others, though, the new year serves as inspiration to get it together. This Spring I will become an aunt for the first time, and this summer there is a big beach outing scheduled with my girlfriends. I'm going to focus on feeling fabulous at those events to keep motivated I don't have any particularly Scouty goals this Challenge, I'm going to use my limited time and energy to get my diet cleaned up since that has proven a good starting point for me in the past. Goals: 1. Complete my second Whole 30, the first one that includes my husband Today is Day 2 already! 2. Do at least 2 hours of chores per week 3. Get all of my transcripts and other documents to school so I am ready to enroll in classes as soon as we are ready financially this Spring Life Goal: Check in on my awesome NF friends at least twice a week. Hopefully everyone is off to an awesome Week One
