  2. Like Osprey, I tend to disappear for days at a time. So imagine my surprise when i find this whole slew of nerds to lean on for this challenge. This is great! So everyone knows a bit about me and where I'm coming from, here we gooooo ... I'm Melissa, or MelHay. I used to work at a place with 2 people named Melissa so I got the nickname - the first three letters of my first and last names - and I kind of like it. But now, I'm a 42yo SAHM with twin 9yo sons, one with special needs. He can take up time at the most unexpected junctures, but that's part of the game as it were. I live near Memphis, TN (no, I have not seen Elvis, but I have had some most excellent BBQ) and have lived in this area of the country (deep south) my whole life. I've never been very athletic or anything like that. My body changed in 4th grade and I've been a pudgy thing ever since. My top non pregnancy weight was 205. I'm down to between 180-185 depending on what week it is. I want to get down to 155, if not more. I do need to research and see what %BF I should have. My nerd pleasures (not vices mind you) RPGs (Skyrim, Fallout, Mass Effect), and books mainly. I have dabble in knitting, comics, and anything else that seems cool at the time. Those are the basics, please feel free to PM me if you don't see me in a couple of days! I stink at accountability ...
  3. Love the idea of assigning points! Looks like something I'll be adding to me next 6 wk challenge. Good luck on the 50K!
  4. 1/22/14 The soon to be fit damsel, MelHay, spent the day doing her best to eat good food, drink plenty of water and get some intentional movement into her day. This day brought success to the soon to be fit damsel because she: Spent 25 minutes on an elliptical at her local YMCA, along with 20 minutes participating in the Star Wars workout she received from the most benevolent Rebel Leader Ate as clean as she could by having : Vi shape nutritional shake mixMilk, Vanilla, Almond (1c - 240mL) Cabbage, Shredded, Cookedtaco spiced Protein, Textured VegetableCrackers, Snack, Cheddar, Bkd, Rducd Fat Fish, Salmon, BurgerKale, Chinese, CookedRice, Brown, Medium Grain, Cooked Water, tap 76 ounces!Apple, MediumPeanut Butter, Natural, Creamy Sandwich, Egg Salad, w/ Whole Wheat No, she didn't need the egg salad, but it tasted so good and she still came in under budget for her calories. The soon to be fit damsel's fitbit also showed she made good progress this first day of success by showing that as of this writing she has burned 2025 calories and eaten 1447. And having a minimum of 500 calorie deficit daily is a goal the soon to be fit damsel would like to achieve. Her last action of the day will be more water, maybe a little something for dessert and an early bed time.
  5. I love the idea of rewards/punishments! I have a reward for reaching a certain weight. But I should do some intermittent ones. Thanks for the idea!
  6. I love 'unwussify' ... May I steal it? Welcome to the Rebellion. Come on in, the forums are fine!
  7. Hey! I have 9yo twin sons. You've picked a great time to start getting into shape. Trust me you will need it! But it is so doable ... Good luck!
  8. Ok, so you are my new hero! I have 30 to lose (I am NOT finding it again) and have tinkered with running. I'd like to do a 5k, but we will see. Good luck!
  9. Yeah for you! Do or do not, there is no try. Seriously, you can do it!
  10. it's going to be all right! I spent the last week beating myself up for not getting up and getting going, But this morning was a new morning and I got up at five and hit the gym. Each day is a new chance to make good decisions. You can do it!
  11. So this week wasn't so good. I guess I'm playing this challenge on Casual mode, thinking everything is just going to come to me. And we all know life is normal at its best (and even Insanity level at times). So today I've picked myself up and went to the gym for 25 min on the elliptical and 20 min. doing the Star Wars workout. It was cool! Thanks for the encouragement!
  12. Great job! You're going to be awesome!
  13. So just as a quick check in .. 2 pounds down!! Woot woot!! 1 class each week (still eed to work on that, I'm doing yoga in the am) 4 days under on the FitBit out of the last eight ... I'll take it ... (Being in the zone/under is in relation to the plan you pick and calories in/out) 4 days of 64oz minimum of water out of the last eight. (I need to remember to take my cup when I run errands!!) I've not decluttered either room yet, but have kicked butt on my kids' bedroom! 90% complete! Now to refresh myself and do better! I can do this!
  14. I use lose it to track food and exercise. What you would be interested in is the fact that you can enter previous days workouts, so you would only have to enter it once - unless you are doing different things every time. Then it wouldn't do you any good whatsoever. I wonder if Fitocracy lets you save workouts?
  15. I thought about something with the way i eat. But I have already been making changes (slow conversion to vegetarian) that are going well. Drinking water is a challenge for me. thanks for the encouragement.
