  1. Bad weather, closed roads, working from home today. Almost time to harness up the Molly monster and take her for a walk through the fields and down to the creek. Hopefully snow not too deep in fields yet - quite a work out last night as it was.
  2. Last spring a very large tree in my backyard fell down. I cut it up with my trusty chain saw and started stacking the chunks up by my sundeck, close to my chopping block so I could turn them into firewood. And because I'm that kind of gentleman, I decided rather than carry the chunks to the block, I would just, y'know, throw them. Because, well, guy?!! Long story short - I wrecked my back (herniated disc). Good grief, what a depressing summer. Depressing as hell, ate too much, drank too much, hurt to walk, hurt to sit, hurt to sleep. keerap I put on my socks unaided in Sept and have been slowing building back up - walking the dog, shovelling the driveway, etc. Anyway. started bbw again - wow, long way to go.
  3. Long walk, back ached pretty bad but a swim after helped immensely. Dinner was grilled Salmon with veggies and rotini noodles sautéed in olive oil and garlic. Bonfire after dinner then bed.
  4. Almost got my right sock on today. However the back and groin were not having any of that so I went to work Crockett style . But I did shave so not totally lost in the 80's This weekend will take a very slow walk to TGTWPT to see how the crop is coming. A swim after then some BBQ salmon fillet and grilled veggies. Bought lots of veggies and fresh fruit today. Weight 250 Back at it.
  5. Crashed and burnt to a crisp. Sigh Oh well, back at it now.
  6. Stepped on the scales for the first time in a week and... down 2 pounds. This can not be right, sez I so I stepped on them again - this time, exhaling all the air in my lungs Down 3 pounds. Ah ha! I step on a 3rd time and, dead even. Not sure who builds these things, but I suspect its the same guys who do the weather forecasts. Its just as accurate as a weather forcast... The only thing that keeps me from going into dark despair and a gallon of ice cream is, I can now lift the front end of my snowmobile. Its not a big sled, but that has to weigh 200 lbs and I picked it up and moved it. 2 months ago, I wouldnt have even tried it. Now I just did it. So I got a tape and here is the tale of the tape so far: Fattest part of the Stomach relaxed, 51 inches almost dead on. When I suck it in, just over 48 inches. In true Dwarf fasion, I am almost as big around as I am tall... Going to do a more thorough chart with chest, waist, leg and arms, to keep on the wall beside my workout log tomorrow when I work out. .
  7. After work I drove home, got the dogs and headed out. We had a great hour's long walk, maybe a little more, down to the Glittering Ice Coast. Tthankfully in the trees most of the time, so the wind wasn't a problem. Very quiet except when we got out of the trees down by the lake. Then the wind made its presence known in a big bad way. Trudged along the beach for a while, then headed back into the trees. Great end to a day.
  8. Weight down to mid 230's Started six week challenge to get down to 215. Believe that is do-able. Lots of energy from the workouts almost too much, trouble sleeping Tuesday night. And more of the same Thurs. Tho could be the Sleepy tea I had before bed. Don't usually drink it. Maybe just try peppermint tea instead. Might not like Valerian or whatever they put in the Sleepy tea. Nite all!
  9. Home on the weekend - no place better.

  10. Great posts Birchwind. Think you will like the strength training. It is really worth a try. The amount of energy you will feel after is a great lift me up. Your Breakfast omelet sounds great - I need to expand my horizons! Take care, eh
  11. Hi Sea Level, There are times when I'd really enjoy life in the desert. Not too long ago I went away for a weekend and came home to a 2-3 foot snow drift where my driveway is supposed to be. Nothing like spending an hour clearing your drive (thankfully I have a snowblower) after a 3 hour drive. Even still, am hoping for another 3-4 weeks of snow. I really enjoy winter. Tried my cross country skis earlier this month but after spending 10 minutes or so dragging myself back to my feet after a fall, figure I will stick to the snow shoes for a bit. I hope to post pictures of the Great Tasty Wild Pear tree and the Deep and Clear Trout Pools soon. Steak and Salad for dinner tomorrow - plan to dig my BBQ out of the snow drift for the occasion!
  12. I believe I am a Ranger at heart. I like the idea of the versatility. Love the outdoors and woods. And anything to do with boats. Not too sure about running, maybe after I defeat the Dreaded Deuce.
  13. Hey Birchwind, great goals! I think you've set achievable goals that will be the basis for some very real gains. The water/coffee one is smart - I tend to drink coffee at work when I am thirsty out of habit. Think I will lug in a big water bottle to keep on my desk. Hope you don't mind if I steal your idea! I've read Game of Thrones, then watched the series, liked both a lot, though I think I liked the series better just because of the fellow who plays Tyrion. He really does bring the part to life. Anyway, good luck and take care, eh. Lylebert
  14. Hello! Thanks for the encouragment! Day two Had a great workout first thing, the BBWW is coming along, working on form, deeper squats, more pushups, holding the plank longer. You know you've had a good workout when your legs quiver as you go back upstairs after! Lunch: chicken caesar, with a dressing from an egg, cider vinegar, olive oil, raw garlic and pepper. Lots of poached chicken and bacon. And shredded parmy. Not true paleo, because of the parmy cheese, but life is too short for caesar salad without parmesan cheese. Took the Molly Monster for a walk through the park after work - too cold for anything longer. The snow is knee deep and I broke through a lot, great work out, but pretty frustrating. Not going to look at the scale until Saturday, but I will go into town to buy a tape measure tomorrow. So far so good!
  15. Hello all Lylebert the Plump here on my first 6 week challenge. I joined the rebellion a month or so ago and have seen my weight drop from 250+ to mid 230's. Which is delightful because I've been eating like a horse. Now I am almost getting into striking distance of the Dreaded Deuce, 200 lbs. The Dreaded Deuce is not just a number. It is a castle wall that needs to be stormed. I've been here before, a few times. Got close to beating it down and then: stalled, no progress, or the restrictive 'diet' got to me, or hated treadmilling to disco music 7 days a week, and so the siege ends. The wall stands and I skulk back to Pizza land. But this time I have a plan. I am not going to tackle the Dreaded Deuce this Challenge. But I am going to prepare the siege engines and ground work to finally bring it down. My plan is to get down to 215 lbs in the next six weeks. I have a three prong attack planned. 1 - work out every second day, progress into the world of weights as well as continue with the BBWW. 2 - walk daily as much as possible, walk at lunch, walk the Molly Monster after work. Walk, walk, walk. 3 - continue with the good eating habits (all two of them) that I have been working on and maybe add a third one. As a side quest, I will make weekly treks to places like the Great Tasty Wild Pear tree (90+ minutes in the summer, across snow covered field and forest, a good two hours on snowshoes). The Molly Monster loves a good frozen pear, or apple or just about anything. Or hike to the Glittering Ice Coast where sun reflecting on the ice is blinding to the eyes and the wind screams across the frozen lake, tears your breath from your lungs and buries the dunes in thick drifts of snow. I've heard of a cave on the rocky shores of the Frozen Lake that is a thing to behold. Hopefully in the next six weeks I will venture there too. A lot planned for the next six weeks. Well, gotta go eat again - filet of sole on a bed of spinach, mushrooms and onion. A little garlic, some lemon pepper and 1/2 a cup of homemade salsa. A side of sweet potato and fresh fruit for dessert. Dang, this Paleo stuff is killing me! :-)
