Thanks for the support. Didn't do too bad yesterday. Drank all my water! Yeah me. Did complete the workout right after I signed off yesterday. Did not get a walk in but when doing my errands parked at the end of the parking lot at 2 different stores so I had farther to walk. Was on my feet going going going yesterday all day. Legs were sore when I finally went to bed. Must be getting better with my form on lunges and squats. Nutrition (not using the word diet) Paleo breakfast and lunch. This means I met my goal. Yeah me. Made the banana cream pie with little tasting and did not have a piece. Really didn't have to work that hard at it. After serving everyone their slice I just decided to clean up the kitchen ( so I would get the "why aren't you having anything") and after that was done didn't even think about it. Now dinner before the pie was another story. Remember it was taco pizza and breadsticks. Since we also had other guests we ordered a flatbread supreme too. Three square pieces of pizza okay, thin crust, veggies, not huge pieces acceptable. Breadsticks on the other hand I think actually called my name to eat them. And I obeyed. Tummy felt like crap this morning. Makes me think Paleo is definitely for me. Funny thing is I didn't get too upset. Thought about it today and next time will make a salad to have with or even eat it before so not as tempted. Or even wait 10 minutes and if I still really want them then go ahead. Okay, okay long boring post but it feels good to track. Started last Wed and completed all the goals I had set for myself. Will contemplate next week today and post tonight for next week. No drastic changes, maybe just more specific. I also want to add a life goal and some measurable steps to attain. I have been motivated by so many others!

Your more specific goals look great. Some people on here have done a grading system but I stuck with at the end of a day/week either I did it or not. Loving your virtual bike rides! If you are looking for a good strength training try Steve's beginner one http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2009/12/09/beginner-body-weight-workout-burn-fat-build-muscle/ My goal is to do that every other day and increase my reps and get better at from on squats and lunges. Just an idea, do what works for you. I am trying Paleo for breakfast and lunch. Dinner sensible eating. (Also because I am not going to waste the rice, pasta and potatoes I have at my house- but not buying more) You are right the science makes sense. But I love me some bread. For me cutting it all out at once (tried before) doesn't work. I give in, feel bad about failing and eat worse. Whole 30 is strict. I have done a lot of reading on both and learn something new every day. I will be posting a lot about my diet because for some reason typing and putting it out there helps me. Sounds like you are well on your way and I will be there to support and motivate you! I will hold you to your goals also!

Good luck! I really like that you made your workout goal reasonable. I did the same and feel good I am attaining it so far. You can always up it later. What is your workouts going to consist of?

Had a slip last night. Chocolate brownie took me down! It is my stepson's birthday weekend and I let them pick what they want to eat for their birthday dinner. He picked taco pizza from a local takeout! Pizza is a downfall for me. Luckily I don't really care for the taco one but I am sure the breadsticks are going to call my name. Cake for dessert you ask? No of course not, he wants my homemade banana cream pie! I will be happy with myself if I don't have a piece but just lick the bowls and taste. This is going to be a challenging weekend but trying to plan ahead to overcome. I will do my workout as soon as I am done with this post. I will go for a 30 minute walk this afternoon. I will drink my 6 waters today. I will let you know how it went tomorrow.

Thanks! I am going to try the muffin recipe tomorrow. I am going to do my meal planning and prep for the week. I plan I diving into some of the Paleo cooking websites.

Happy belated birthday! Sounds like you are doing a great job overcoming your obstacles. I had a huge brownie last night. I wish it hadn't tasted so good. Just have to make sure we don't say oh well and get off track.

Thanks! I am not a self motivating cardio person. Would like to challenge myself to get there. Walking is good for me and I will jog intermittently during. It has been below zero here so have been dreading. Didn't want to set myself up to fail but after a week or two following my goals I can always add a cardio goal in. With the body weight circuit doing everything one right after another has my heart pumping. Key is to repeat so I keep my heart rate up.

Thanks for the encouragement and the etiquette. How do I delete this thread?

Good job going out and skating! Read your previous posts. No comments from me. Those who live in glass houses you know. I feel this is a space where you can vent what you feel. Sometimes it is easier to tell how we are feeling here then to who we are closest to.

Great ideas here! Thanks. I started this week with eating Paleo for breakfast and lunch. Working out good for me. Easier than I thought but I had to make sure I had items ready. To easy for me to reach for starch if I am not prepared. I have always loved a breakfast casserole. Made my own this week. Basically 1/2 lb pork sausage brown and put in bottom of greased 9x9 pan. Added chopped veggies on top. Red peppers, green onions, green peppers and a little jalapeño peppers. Beat 8 eggs and added 2 T water to them, poured in on top and baked at 350. 4-5 days of breakfast in the frig and just reheat in the micro. This has endless options with what you have in the frig. Spinach, kale, zuchini, and even a little cheese! (I too have cheated on the cheese rule here and there) I have found that eating Paleo for breakfast keeps me full longer. When I would start the day with even healthy grains I would be hungry again in a few hours. Please share any of your favorite breakfast ideas.

Great results so far since Dec. I love your diet goals. Mine are similar and you give me motivation that it will make a difference. Keep us updated on how you are doing. -
Sounds like you are doing great. I get where you are coming from with the water/bathroom revolving door. I am on day 3 of water focus and already feel better.

4:30am What time is bedtime? I shoot for 7 hours bedtime 10:30 up at 5:30. Used to hit snooze then feel more tired. How is the elimination diet going? -
Thanks! Hit my water goal yesterday and well on my way today. I am a carb lover. Not sweets but bread, pasta and such. I have already noticed how much better I feel cutting that out. Hopefully my 1pm daily headache will disappear soon. No excuses this year for eating healthy!

The Roaring Twenties: One Flapper's Fitness Party
T2sarahconnor replied to fultonator's topic in Level 1 Rebels
Okay if you can brave outside then so can I. It should hit the plus 20's today. Thanks for the motivation. I am also a big reader but have not been able to find the time. Maybe a reward for my walk. Devil Wears Prada........great book. -
Thanks for the post yesterday. Nice to know there is support out there. Don't beat yourself up about the M&M's. It is tough with kids! I have some in my pantry too. I used to just get rid of them but I was only wasting money. I wish I could tell you what works but I am still figuring it out too. I am also trying more Paleo. I have been successful so far aiming for breakfast and lunch 100% Paleo then sensible choices for dinner. Plus then my husband can ease into it. He likes the meat part and veggies but wants potatoes and bread too! You can keep it up for the rest of the week!

I will count yesterday as a successful day. Did my workout last night but learned I need to get it done and out of the way first thing in the morning. Was hard to get it in and I think I could have done more if it was first thing in the am. Drank six 16 oz waters. Lots of extra trips to the potty but what do you expect. I did have one diet soda last night. It was my sweet. I figure better that than the candy in my pantry. Paleo breakfast and lunch. Dinner yummy chicken stir fry, lots of veggies and a little rice. I slept good last night and ready to face the day. Next three days off. Need to spend some time on my life goals and post.

Thanks for the support! It means a lot. I didn't get here overnight and change takes time. I am going to make myself proud by getting through my goals today.

Great goals for yourself. I just joined also. Seems very positive and motivating. I too am doing the beginner body weight training 3x a week. I'll keep you posted on how I am doing.

I am on day 2 of eating Paleo for breakfast and lunch. I am also drinking water all day after a cup (large) of coffee in the morning. I would normally only have had 1 normal (12oz) diet soda for lunch. Is my headaches from no caffeine or no carbs? How long does this last and anyway to help?
-
Great Job saying no to the doughnuts! I actually asked my co worker to hide his candy jar that is usually on his desk. Small victories add up.
-
I am also trying not to hit snooze. Day two for me. I really like the few minutes of calm when I get up on time. No rush, rush, rush. Feel like I will make better choices.

I know I am late to the party but I am not going to allow myself another excuse to wait to change. Main goal To lose weight and build muscle 1. Drink a minimum of 6 glasses of water daily of 16oz. Take my water bottle everywhere. 2. Do beginner body weight circuit 3 days each week. 3. Eat Paleo diet for at least breakfast and lunch. I am 44 years old, 5'8" tall and my starting weight this morning was 220lbs. I am completely embarrassed about the way I look and feel. I did not struggle with weight issues as a child. I was an active healthy athlete. Around thirty something happened. I know this is not who I am. You will probably read this and want to know why I didn't include cardio in my plan. Too embarrassed to go to a gym and the current temp here is -9 degrees. I will do cardio but did not want to set myself up to fail. I usually jump in too fast and quit when I can't stick to it. Any words of encouragement are welcome. I will be using this to journal how I am feeling because I need to put my thoughts down to keep motivated.
