  1. Monson Village near Milford NH... It was a town built circa 1730, and abandoned before the revolution. As you walk through the trails and fields, you stumble upon the ruins and foundations of the old town. There are plaques sharing the history at each site. Plus, there's a gorgeous bog with eagles and all sorts of life. It's truly a unique spot!
  2. VERY early spring, like April, is a gorgeous time around here. I second the freaking bugs. They come out around May here, so anything earlier is absolutely lovely. But my favorite is leaf-turning fall. In NH, there is just nothing as amazing.
  3. I have the same problem. I've found a couple things that help... - Deoderant does work to provide some protection, if it's a powder based one (a la Dove). Baby powder also works for shorter times. But it's good! - Wearing close fitting stretch pants that come up close to the crotch (yoga pants, for example). When they're tight, soft, and close, there is nothing to rub! It's the seams that really cause chafing, typically, as they are rough and move around against your skin. I used to have HUGE problems with this when working out. Yoga pants have really solved the whole problem.
  4. First off - if you start telling yourself that you are beautiful, you will start to believe it. You really will. I was 6'3" in the 8th grade. I've been overweight my whole life. To be perfectly honest, not that many men are interested in dating me, because I'm 5 inches taller than the US average man. But guess what - I'm gorgeous. I love my eyes, I have great hair, and I have a beautiful, bigger, shape. My legs are long, I have a great sense of humor, and my singing voice is definitely sexy. So what if I'm not a dainty little girl? I'm a WOMAN. Rawr. And the men who like me love my curves, my height, and my attitutude. I checked out your gallery, and actually laughed "She's cute! What is she worried about!". Find out what you like about yourself. Start standing in front of the mirror in your undies and SEE yourself. Nice legs? Good arms? Slim wrists? What do you have that's beautiful? It's not a sexual thing, it's about embracing how God made you - absolutely beautiful, and absolutely flawed (like everyone else!!), Makeup tips: http://www.youtube.com/user/panacea81 - Lauren on this channel taught me most of what I know about makeup. Watch her tutorials, and you'll start to pick up the basics. The absolute basics you'll need (drug store brands are FINE) are, for your coloring (fair skin, dark hair): -foundation (try covergirl or loreal, not the supersupercheapo stuff) -a soft pink blush - think pink rose petals, not fuschia or brick. -chocolate brown eyeliner (try to find a retractable pencil one, or just a pencil. Liquid is an advanced game). -Dark brown or black mascara (always go for waterproof) (match your lashes. I have fair hair, but black lashes. Browns look weird on me for this reason). -a berry colored lipstick or gloss. Try for something a couple shades deeper than your lip. Bonus points - get an eyelash curler. They look scary, but they really AREN'T. Let me know if you need tips. I love beauty junk.
  5. Had a pretty good day today. I did a very leg-strengthening heavy version of my work out for "Zombies, Run!", which involved lots of mini-squats, high-knees, and kicks. Felt good! I'm also really loving smoothie-ing. My creation today was kale, 1 carrot, 5 strawberries, 1/2 banana, 1 clementine, 1 oz silken tofu, 1/4 cup water. It is delicious and pulpy and taste like healthy-green-deliciousness. I'm really loving kale lately. And we had BRUSSELS SPROUTS WITH DINNER! Yessss.

  7. - Yes, I've been weighing myself after shower, before breakfast. - I've been weighing myself on Fri/Sat (sometimes I forget), so about 1 week. - MENSTRUAL CYCLE... That might be a factor. I'm due in about 4-5 days. - Yes, very sure. I've been measuring oz and keeping track pretty consistently. I'll check back in on my weight post lady-times. That's a good point.
  8. I LOVE the NYC Ballet workout. It runs through the basics of a real ballet class, and can really get you sweating. It's definitely a strength-based workout, but it's fun and is great for improving posture and flexibility. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/191055420600?lpid=82
  9. Hi all! I have been doing great with my diet and exercise routines. I walk/jogged 6 miles last week over 4 days, which is up from zero. I've been eating healthy meals (with the exception of my birthday dinner) over the last two weeks, staying around my 2000-2400 calorie goal. (My TDEE for 2 lb weight loss is ~2400). So, imagine my surprise that after my awesome 8 lb weight loss, I'm now back at my starting weight. Over the last five days, I've gained back those eight pounds. I've been exercising, eating well... And I don't get it. One bad meal cannot equal this, right? And it wasn't even that "bad" - Not burgers and fries, it was scallops with parsnips - nothing was fried or oily. So, any clue what's going on? I know I've gained muscle, but that doesn't seem to add up.
  10. Pizza is definitely a weakness of mine. I've given myself several "break meals" during the week of my birthday, and the heavens didn't collapse on me! Keep on rocking:)
  11. Tequila, pwease. Help me out with the astrology- what does that mean?
  12. I'm okay, just irritated at being car-less in a rural area. Plus, I'm working PT and don't have a ton of extra cash until I start this new gig! Thanks for your concern, everyone. FWIW, the kids on the bus were super excited at being late for school!
  13. Today was.. a fucked up day. This morning, I left for work 10 minutes early to get gas. The school bus in front of me stopped short, and I slid on ice and hit the back of it at about 20 miles per hour. My poor little Hyundai is essentially destroyed, and I don't have insurance on my own car if it was my fault (It's called collision coverage, I think). I will hear by tomorrow what the estimate is, but it is probably totaled. Ugh. GREAT START TO MY DAY AND HAPPY DAY AFTER BIRTHDAY TO ME. But then, this afternoon, I got a job offer from the interview I went on yesterday. It pays well, has full benefits, and I think I will REALLY enjoy the work. SO THIS IS AN AWESOME END TO MY DAY AND HAPPY DAY AFTER BIRTHDAY TO ME. My brain is a confused mix of emotions and is basically an exhausted mess.
  14. Strength does not equal muscle mass. You can build strength at a weight-loss caloric intake, but to build MUSCLEmuscles, you do need a surplus. So, Aurelia, eat a healthy calorie amount for weightloss and push yourself with weights, and you'll strengthen up!

  16. I'm a sucker for a man with dark hair and blue eyes. Hot cha cha.
  17. Nerdfitness is so weird. But that's why I like it. BRB - gonna go feed a chicken Rocky Road.
  18. Are you guys doing the color run in Manchester New Hampshire? I live right around there and was thinking of signing up, should we do a team!? You know I love zombies! And I have zombies, run!
  19. Woo hoo! You are so awesome. Keep it up, you're doing so well!
  20. I'd love to hear an update on your results! You seem to be totally killing it. Are you seeing any benefits yet?
  21. I'm losing fat and gaining muscle! In fact, I've stopped weighing myself, because I'll see the number stay the same despite being significantly stronger and my pants being loose!
  22. I had a huge success today. First off, it's my birthday (!), so I wasn't even planning on hitting the gym. My mother was going anyway, so I thought, "Meh, I'll do a lighter workout since I hit it hard yesterday". Hah. I don't know how to keep it light. I had two major breakthroughs. 1) I have NEVER done 2 miles before. I've walked slowly for longer on trails... but pushed myself on the treadmill? No way. 1.5 was previous high, and that was just 2 days ago. 2) I maintained a pace of 19:21 for 2+ miles, when my previous pace for 1 mile was 20:30. This INCLUDES my 2mph warm up and cool down. I estimate my actual workout pace to be around 18:00. 3) I got up to 3.9 on the treadmill. My previous fastest pace was 3.5 HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!
  23. LOL, look forward to hearing more about your zombie status. I used to have an iPodTouch, and it didn't work on that. It requires streaming data, I think, so a phone only. My arms feel fine! A little sore, but no major DOMS. My big issue is abs/lower back, since those are the muscles I've used the least in the past. Even jogging, my abs are getting more sore than my legs!
