  1. How did you decide to format the bodyweight strength sessions?
  2. Attack life, it's going to kill you anyway. - some meme somewhere
  3. This is late now, but Comptrain gave some good tips here:
  4. I will be sitting out this year. I am still rebuilding my upper body strength from a spinal cord contusion and twin shoulder impingements that led to 5+ months of basically no training. Combine that with not being allowed to kip handstand push-ups anymore (degenerative disc in my neck) and that movement would spell instant death for any hopes I harbored of a competent performance. Thus, I will complete the workouts on my own, but I will not be paying money to CrossFit for the privilege of getting frustrated when I get stuck on HSPU #3/50 in a workout. I am, however, quite interested to see how the new format plays out. I know it's still early, but overall registration numbers seem to be a good bit lower this year.
  5. The only protein bars I buy these days are the ones made by Epicbar. They don't have quite the same quantity of protein per bar, but since they're actually made from meat, they have better amino acid profiles. They also avoid all the extra sugar and other additives that plague so many protein bars, even the "organic" ones.
  6. Honestly I would recommend the "eat it until you like it approach". I used to be a lot pickier with vegetables, but I knew I should eat them, so I decided to just make myself eat them until I learned to like them. It takes a little while, but it works.
  7. Well that did not go as planned. When I saw the February competition back in March, right after I had PR'd my snatch by 15#, I got excited. Welp, this one was 35# lower than that. C&J was 20# off the PR I set 16 months ago as well. Pretty disappointing overall, but I suppose they can't all be good days.
  8. Not much happening on the oly front so far. I'll see what I can do later on today.
  9. Is there a thread for it somewhere that I've missed?
  10. Seems like we should be about due for another one of these
  11. Thanks! I'm still ridiculously sore two days later Yay for no knee pain!
  12. Alright, I'm curious. How do you use a medball for grip training?
  13. Today was a fitness competition for my installation. WOD #1 Strict Murph 1 mi run 100 strict pull-ups 200 push-ups 300 squats 1 mi run Each movement must be completed before moving on to the next. 48:30 (1st place) WOD #2 Mini DT 3 RFT 12 Deadlifts 9 Hang Cleans 6 Push Jerks All at 155# 6:19 (3rd place) WOD #3 Mini Hansen 3 RFT 30 Kettlebell Swings (62#) 30 Burpees 30 GHD Sit-ups 21:53 (1st place)
  14. 8 rounds, each round for time: 100m Run 25 Burpees 1 min rest 1:36, 1:51, 1:54, 1:53, 2:02, 2:05, 2:08, 1:55 That first round may have been a tad bit quick...
  15. Choosing the row is not the way to set yourself up for success going back into T2B!
  16. This seems like something that would have been posted here before, but it's worth the read. http://taskandpurpose.com/the-real-way-to-get-back-in-shape/
  17. Run the cord up your sleeve into your shirt.
  18. Zeus (finally got around to it) 3 RFT: 30 Wall-balls 30 Sumo Deadlift High-pulls (75#) 30 Box Jumps (20") 30 Push Press (75#) Row 30 calories 30 Push-ups 10 Back Squats (bodyweight - 185# for me) 32:55 Throat is still recovering, but that's almost an 11 minute PR from the only other time I've done this WOD (three years ago).
  19. I have a workout mix full of Red, Demon Hunter, Nine Lashes, 12 Stones, Flyleaf, etc. When no one else is using the speaker, I blast it regardless of whether or not anyone else is in the gym
  20. Well done! Glad I could be along for the ride on this one!
