  1. 4 hillyish miles this morning, 32:58. Not happy with the pace, but running after "leg day" is never fun. I desperately need to get faster...being at sea level would help, but it's no excuse.
  2. Dude, what the crap? You don't mention the keg until she gets here? Not cool...

    Almond Milk?

I use the unsweetened myself. You can get vanilla unsweetened from Almond Breeze. They also sell a almond/coconut combination that I prefer over regular almond milk. But yes, Almond Breeze is my usual choice. Simple Choice is also good (in my opinion), but my wife thinks it tastes "like dirt" haha
  4. Squats are definitely something you want to work your form with before you start adding weight. The "form check" forum is useful for that, as are resources such as http://www.mobilitywod.com (Kelly Starrett is a great resource for form/mobility-related issues). I feel like "before" pictures would go in your challenge thread or your daily battle log, whichever you opt to use. Work on whatever you want to improve!
  5. Well it certainly sounds like it keeps you from being bored, so that's a definite plus.
  6. That's when you pick up your plate and roll them toward your mouth.
  7. Nonsense! Squat racks are for weights that you can't pick up off the ground (and need to get higher than a deadlift), so unless your biceps are stronger than your quads, pick that bar up yourself! No rack needed
  8. Man, what do you do for work that has you putting out fires at 0100?
  9. Welcome, these sound like excellent goals! And you know, there is one universal solution for anyone unhappy with their thighs: squat!
  10. As promised (I used creme de menthe for this one): My wife takes such flattering photos of me Also, please ignore the baby toys scattered across the room. Yes, I am a dad haha
  11. Today I did a workout with a name, which is a sure indicator that it will be unpleasant. Everybody, meet Jeremy. Jeremy is a couplet, consisting of a 21-15-9 rep cycle. The two movements are 95# overhead squat and burpee. So, for those of you unfamiliar with the format, it looks like this: 21 overhead squats @ 95lbs 21 burpees 15 overhead squats @ 95lbs 15 burpees 9 overhead squats @ 95lbs 9 burpees Total time = 6:29 Followed Jeremy with 5x3 back squat @ 245# and 2x10 ab crunch shredder dips Then capped off my day by loading and unloading six 4'x6' stall mats into my vehicle. Gym matting is expensive, so for a home gym, stall matting is essentially the same and substantially cheaper.
  12. The Minimus are pretty easy to find outside of a fitness type shop (at least in the US, not sure about Australia). Fitness shops are not for people who have attained Ultimate Fitness. They are for people who are striving to improve their level of fitness. Thus, unless you have a seat reserved at Mt. Olympus, you are not out of place in one of said shops.
  13. This is why weight loss goals are often not great markers. Basically you lost fat and gained muscle, thereby becoming simultaneously trimmer and stronger. I would count this as a success.
  14. I think it's probably the range of motion bit.
  15. All food is finger food, it just depends on how motivated you are.
  16. Just ordered two barbells, 370# of bumper plates, and a dip belt. CAN'T WAIT TO GET THEM.

    1. ARock10

      ARock10

      when will they arrive??

    2. Why not?

      Why not?

      They ship tomorrow!

      And I'm not sure :P

  17. Don't get me started on hurdlers. I used to get to the starting line and look up at the guys on either side of me. I'm 5'10" and they were generally around 6'2"-ish (which makes sense when you consider the fact that the hurdles themselves are 42")
  18. ...and ready to mingle! Get in line, ladies.
