  1. Hey Nuala! In the end I'm doing great progress! I managed to get down to 30 minutes on my ride to uni, so that's one I was able to complete! I've nailed also both sidequest. Aboute the other two challenges, I won't be able to complete them before the end of the challenge. The TKD grading will be next week, and for rock climbing I managed to get the gym to open another course that will be running next week. Too bad I won't be able to finish by the end of the challenge, but one week delay won't matter much. Specially because there was not much I could do there. Probably for the challenge I'll join the assassins and focus my training in Rock Climbing!
  2. Apparently I won't be able to finish the rock climbing challenge since the course needed to get the licence won't be offered before the end date... So much for the first challenge haha. However I'm going strong climbing at least once a week indoors and once outdoors. I might be able to have a friend teach me some basic lead climbing techniques so I guess I can have some of those stat points anyway! TKD is going good but I'll definitely won't be able to participate in the tournament, my ankle is getting better slowly and I want to keep it that way and not make it worse. I guess for next challenge I'll try to get a bit more focused in one guild and add the other skills as side quest. So I might join the assassins for next one. @Nuala I'll definitely take a look at the climbing posts! Thanks.
  3. Hello again fellow rebels! I haven't been around for a while as I was quite busy moving and settling in Melbourne. And I finally managed to get around a nice schedule and plans for my workout. I came with some goals for the next couple of months to keep me going strong even with all these changes. To keep it short I decided to make a change, leave my job and get back to Uni for a Master's degree. So I moved to Australia after some time moving around because of my job (I'm originally from Mexico but haven't lived there for a couple of years). Anyway, so I'm resetting my character because I didn't quite like the stats allocation and the goals/challenges I had... If I had any. So here is the challenge (it's never too late!) Main Quest: Martial Arts: So I ended up joining Tae Kwon Do since it was the one that fits better in my schedule and I can do it at Uni. There is a competition in the middle of April, so the challenge is: Take the belt exam (yellow belt) and get ready for the competition (even if I can't compete in the end as my ankle hasn't recovered completely). I'm guessing completing this quest would increase: 2xDEX, WIS. Rock Climbing: I also joined a Mountaineering club so I can get guidance in the process of learning traditional rock climbing. So for a challenge I'd like to get my "licence" for indoor lead climbing so I can make the transition to outdoors sport climbing. This quest would increase: 2xSTR, WIS. Cycling: I'm living about 8km from Uni, so I decided to ride a bike for commuting (public transportation is waaaay expensive). Currently it takes me about 40 mins to make the ride, so in the next month I'd like to do it in 30 mins. This quest would increase: CON, STA. Side Quests: Volunteer for "Student Appeal" by asking people around Uni to support the cause (I gotta get out of my system the issue I have with talking to random people and rejection). This side quest is definitely a: CHA. Drink no more than 3 beers in a week. (This one is hard). I'm not sure about this one, CON maybe? Motivation: Well, this one is easy. I really want to improve as a whole. I don't picture myself any more sitting in front of a TV, computer, just wasting my life. I want to see what the world has to offer and be able to really adventure myself into it. So here it is, and let's get on with it!
  4. Thanks Silver! Yeah, it was time to get out of there, I don't regret it though... I think the whole process made me stronger and learn a lot. Once I move I'll look for a good school, come out with a plan, and post some decent, real goals! Cheers! Thanks for the advise! I will take a look to some mixed martial arts like you say, something too calm might bore me (I tried yoga and found that I can't be still and quiet for so long). Yeah, I only drink a couple of beers once or twice a week, and only with friends; as an excuse to get together and have some fun. We made like a hobbie of trying different types of beer. Between my favorites are Chocolate Stouts and Cream Stouts. You wouldn't believe you're drinking beer!
  5. Hey Rebels! I'm Ricardo and am 25. I just recently found Nerd Fitness in my quest to get informed about how could I get the right start for my new life. About two years ago after graduating from uni I had a terrible break-up, and being unemployed I basically lost all my confidence. After a couple of months of being miserable (I was literally shaking during interviews) I luckily got a decent office job. Then, after a long time searching I nailed a new job I really wanted, one that would have me traveling a lot. During this time I tried to stay healthy but I ended always saying the typical nonsense: "I don't have time", "I'm always too tired after work" (after 11 hours working I was really tired but that is no excuse, what I lacked was motivation), "life in this place is terrible". And so a year passed where I would drink a lot (sometimes take "recreational drugs") and stay up late; sometimes even not sleep before going to work. And it hit me that I really didn't like where my life was going when I went back home for a couple of weeks and saw that I was completely out of place with my friends and family, and that this life was not leading me to a nice place. Hence, I decided to change my life and the process has taken me a whole year (I wish I had found Nerd Fitness earlier, I had to learn many things the hard way!). This week I'll be quitting this job where I don't stay long in the same place to move to a new city and study a graduate degree. I've changed little by little my habits, my wardrobe, and improved myself. And I'm feeling great about it! Now I work out 4-5 days a week and eat quite healthy (I'm going to try to get into Paleo), can't avoid the odd beer every now and then though. Anyway... I though it would be a good idea since I'm doing all these changes to get into new hobbies and retake old ones. So I've set my challenges: Learn rock climbing, parkour and a martial art (I still haven't decided which, I did TKD when I was a kid and I'd like to try another one, any suggestions?), and get better at snowboard and wakeboard. I know these might be too many to attack at the same time, so I plan to start little by little... Maybe rock climbing and a martial art first? So, that's my introduction! Ricardo
