  1. ... At least, some of those that didn't fit me before xD I was getting concerned with my weight gain. You know. You have a closet full of clothes, then you get depressed->gain weight and almost nothing fits you. Would you buy new clothes? Well, I didn't want to. Neither I was going to spend that much money trying to buy almost everything D: Well then. After 4 weeks, I can now fit in some of my old pants (I haven't tried all of them. I should, I guess)
  2. When you're on your period, you can actually weight more (up to 7lbs more, as much as I was informed of). The days before and the days after are also in that time lapse, so don't worry so much about your weight in those days. Just do what you always do and you'll see the results after that. I'm the living proof of that. I had a 3,7lbs difference in two days thanks to my bloody week (that ended three days ago) xD Also, I'm glad you're aware that you can gain weight while exercising and it's not a bad weight. It's muscle. What you have to lose is your body fat. If you did, then you were successful and you gained muscle. Just keep doing what you're doing and check your body fat once in a while
  3. Yes, I agree with that That's why I'll teach myself to eat less (I'm one of those that eats with the eyes xD). Thank you! Thank you! You are right, indeed. And thank you for the motivation Not only that. She did even worse... In the first appointment, she NEVER told us there was another way (with her, of course. I visited another nutritionist before and his methods were different). She only asked if we were willing to try it or not. Not like we had a chance, since she didn't present us one. Then, this last appointment, she says she told us on our first appointment that she makes two types of consultations: the regular ones and those with supplements. And she didn't. My mom is my witness. We are leaving. That's what I call incompetence. Thank you! Yeah, I know those supplements (I studied them when I was in high school) and I think I won't be using them. Just regular healthy eating with the enough exercise to make me feel good about myself Thank you! I didn't know about that website. It can come in handy Thank you I think I won't search for another nutritionist. I only have bad experiences with them (of course, not all are bad, but... You know. After some bad experiences, it's hard to trust another one). I won't put my health in their hands. My health is mine to care and I won't let them mess it up again. I'm feeling tired enough with this (I barely have energy to go on through the day... She cut every single carbohydrate from my diet. And dammit. We need them. A small amount, but we do!). Thank you Thank you 1. Yes. 2. Well... She actually didn't teach me anything new. I kinda have an interest in nutrition (it was always my fav theme from biology classes), so I'm informed. I agree that she said some stuff that makes sense, but... Maybe it was too much? We don't have to just eat the things she allowed. We can eat pretty much everything. We only have to be educated to eat healthy, not to eat trash food (at least, not regularly. Once in a while doesn't do much damage) and control our hunger to not eat too much. If it was useful? I did lose weight. And now I can fit in some of my pants I wasn't able to fit in before. And... The only thing I really appreciate is that second achievement, to be honest. Numbers aren't my goal. 3. No. Money is out of the question. There's no way I'm going to spend over 130 dollars a month seeing a nutritionist. There are cheaper solutions for what I need. And that's why my mom and I decided to leave the nutritionist. We are going there to a last appointment (my mom wants to shove some truths in that nutritionist's head. I can't say I'm against that xD) and we are going to show her how wrong she was. I hope no one has to go through what I've been. I'm currently searching some gym's addresses to check prices next week. I'm going to do what I want to do and what I need to do. And I won't need some damn nutritionist. I'm going to do this alone, it's my will. Even if I can't look like what I wanted to look (it might be impossible to achieve that. Flat belly for a natural curvy girl? Right, right. Not even in my best days and I wasn't always fat. I just had a tiny belly. It wasn't enough to satisfy me back then and that's why I got to this point, where I'm actually fat), at least, I will look better and I will feel better. I was always proud of my curves and I will still be. I don't care what they say. I don't have to look like a stick to be pretty. And I won't envy others in the future. The others should envy me, the improved me.
  4. (I hope I'm in the right section) So... I've been seeing a nutritionist for a month now. I can't say it's not been working. It has. But today happened a thing I didn't like. At all. She threatened she would have to dump me (as a client) if I didn't follow exactly her advices when it comes to supplements because she was hired by a company (the one that makes the supplements, that cost a LOT) and she had to report to them. If I wasn't able to buy them, then I couldn't participate in the program. Sorry about my language, but I got pissed. Really. A lot. Then, she worries the most about having to report to the company than to acknowledge that we aren't perfect (I can't say I'm following the program 100%, but I am, at least, following 95%!) and that not everyone is rich (her supplements would go for over 130 dollars a month). Of course, it's been working so far, only not as good as she wanted. She needed 5/6kg (11~13lbs) for her reports. I'm really thinking about quitting. Not the weight loss, but going there... It was soooo rude of her. I'm not in this for the numbers. I just want to be able to fit in my clothes and feel good about myself when I look myself in the mirror. Should I quit? (The solution I proposed my mom was for me to join a gym, which would be a LOT cheaper, and then have a regular diet. Eating what I always had, but paying attention to the portions, since it's what was making me gaining weight. That and not exercising in 4 years. Anyway... I just wanted to take control of this. As I said up there, I'm not in this for the numbers. I don't care if I lose 5lbs or 1lbs, or even if I gain 2lbs. If I look myself in the mirror and I like what I see, then I'm doing a good job! Too bad my mom doesn't seem to trust me because she thinks I'll quit gym too and that I'm just giving excuses to not do a thing).
  5. Since I wasn't able to go to the nutritionist on the 31th, I went today. And I'm not pleased with the results, since I'm pretty sure I lost weight (the nutritionist said it might be something caused by period and... Sometimes, being a woman can be depressing, since it made me look bad). 7/02/2014Current weight: 72,3kg / 159.1 lbsLost: 0,3kg / 0.7 lbsMeasurements:- Chest: 104cm / 40.9 in- Waist: 82cm / 32.3 in- Belly: 97cm / 38.2 in- Hips: 97cm / 38.2 in Now I can fit in some pants that didn't fit before (finally), so... It wasn't so bad. Still, I'm pretty sure I lost weight. Maybe I'm retaining water thanks to that stupid time of the month... At least, so I hope. Also, I'm thinking about quitting my nutritionist and doing things on my own. I'm going to find a thread to post my rage instead of talking about it here xD
  6. Be careful with that. Some tips: - When you feel your hand numb, remember the carpal tunnel goes through your wrist. Massage your wrist (the bottom part of your hand and the inside or your wrist) to stimulate your nerves. - The carpal tunnel syndrome is an injury that usually appears with repetitive manual tasks. Try to figure out what might be worsening it in your life. Once you find it, make sure to take regular breaks so it doesn't get that repetitive. - Exercise! Try to do regular exercises (stretching and all that. Do you know those sponge balls? They are also interesting for that) and then check your performance with daily tasks (grabbing a pencil, grabbing a knife, etc). If you need to do that daily task in your life, you must be able to perform it. Try your best so it doesn't affect what you need to do. - Rest. I'm serious. Resting is also essential to keep your hand healthy. Just place your hand turned down in a table (so your fingers and your hand are stretched and doing nothing else) so you can relax. - Warm water always helps your muscles relaxing. If you're really in need, just use a bowl with warm/hot water (be careful with the temperature. You don't want to burn yourself). Place your hand in the bowl for a few minutes (don't overdo. 5min should be enough. Dry your hand with a towel and don't use cold water). Better yet, why not joining this with some exercise? Get some marbles and just throw them in the water. Your exercise will be taking them from the water one-by-one. I hope this helps!
  7. I used Puma when I played handball and I really liked them. Unfortunately, I ended up ruining my knees with that and now I have to be really really careful when I squat (only after a good warm-up). It gives me a sensation like it's going to snap if I don't do that D: Your case might be some sort of sore aftermath (within the muscle, without hurting), which is no big deal. Focus on your warm-up (a good warm-up prevents stuff like this) whenever you are running. At least, 20min for it. If you would like, I would also recommend relaxing your knees after a long day. Use a soaked towel with warm/hot water (be careful with the temperature. You don't want to burn yourself) for 5min and then massage them softly. Repeat if you want. It won't make you feel bad, that's for sure. The massage will help your muscles stretching and prevent cramps when you're exercising. That's a version of a technique I used with my clients when I need to relax their muscles for activities. Asics is not a bad brand. I also buy that brand for me, but I never used it to run. For my brother, for example, I always have to buy Nike or Adidas because they really have better quality (they may be expensive, but they last longer and I really like the transpiration system in those brands). My sports teachers also recommended those brands and I had to buy one pair for their classes. I have no idea if the padding makes really much difference comparing those brands, but I would believe so. Even within Nike, some sneakers feel weird in my feet (the padding feels misplaced for my feet shape), for example. Oh, and physical therapists (and occupational therapists, like me, but I've just recently graduated) aren't really the best examples to compare yourself with! xD After a few years of practice, they can be in worse shape than a regular person. Always moving around, squatting, lifting... They need to take care of themselves.
  8. Portuguese girl here! Too bad I'm way too far from the other countries to be able to meet you. That's what I get from living in a corner xD
  9. If that's what I'm thinking it is, take care. It might be a reflection of your workouts. I had those after I played handball without the right sneakers (either with sprinting or handball, you really need the right sneakers that can support you and cushion every single step you do. After all, walking and running is a sequence of balance. Running is a even harder sequence. First you get unbalanced without one foot on the ground and then you get back to your balance with the other foot, which means you will have to support yourself every time you put your feet on the ground. Sorry if it's confusing, but I was trying to explain you the importance of the right sneakers xD). Which kind of sneakers are you using?
  10. Oh, yeah, I learned about that in college. My mom doesn't listen to me because I don't have a degree in nutrition (even though I have some sort of degree in sports). But she probably wouldn't believe me either, even if she needed something from my study area. Her mentality is "I'm her kid, so I don't have as much experience as her". Fuck logic xD Oh, nice to meet you Well, I try not to let her affect me, but I don't have all the patience in the world. I wish I had. She's the kind of mom that never praises her kids (if they do a good job, it's their duty. If they don't, they are the worst kids ever) and she has been self-pitting after my dad left us. Which is annoying... Always using that argument for everything and she was supposed to be over it now -.-
  11. I'm into anime/manga, books, movies/series (not as much, but I still like them. I love quite a few), videogames (my boyfriend only made it worse, since now I feed his videogaming hobby and he feeds mine xD) and arts and craft (mainly because of my course). I also have interest in the japanese and south korean culture (since now I'm into kpop as well!). I also started learning web design on my own. So yeah, I started quite early with my nerdy side and I'm really proud of it xD
  12. I already tried. She doesn't understand that's not the way to have a diet. Don't worry, I don't follow that xD (but yeah. She can be pretty destructive with her comments. You have no idea how much I cried because of her) She's having a diet now and she thinks that, if she eats too much in one meal, that she should skip the next. I get shocked, but what can I do? She doesn't listen (and she even gets mad if I try to talk to her about it). If she wants to destroy her body, go ahead. It seems I don't have any influence on her, since I'm her kid and I don't have any nutrition course. She only listens to the nutritionist.
  13. The only thing I like in my body are my legs. Not that they are long/skinny, but they are really nice. Great shape and not that common. That's the only thing I like to show off, since I like them. So many years swimming had to give me something good xD I also don't mind my eyes. They are hazel brown. I used to like my hair, since it could get a golden colour under the sunny weather (got a bit lighter), but then I stopped leaving my home during the summer and it never appeared again =/
  14. What I usually hear is: "That's all yours?" *looking at boobs* No, no. It's not mine. These belongs to my neighbor. "You must be eating all the time when I'm not looking!" Yeah, my mom. And I'm not eating all the time. I actually had a very predictable "schedule" to eat.. "Don't eat. You lose nothing by eating". Again, my mom. Sometimes, she thinks I'm better off not eating. "I'm older than you and I'm losing more weight than you!" Well, duh. I have a lot less to burn... "Sorry to say this, but you have some great boobs!" If this is the second thing you say to a girl when you meet her, you just lost the game. Also, not exactly a comment, but... You know that disapproving stare someone gives you when they learn you like games/anime/manga aka "you are different"? I also get that all the time and it hurts more than a comment...
  15. Playing Xenoblade! After that one, I'll get back to Eternal Sonata. I was playing ES, but then I got my hands on Xenoblade... I couldn't resist xD
