  1. Still working on updating my list of go-to foods and getting an idea of what I can eat while out. This week should prove especially challenging, as I am staying with carnivorous friends while on vacation. There's also a renaissance faire. The good news is, one of them is interested in learning yoga, so she and I can work together. There's also a Planet Fitness nearby, so I can get to the gym a few times as well.
  2. Well, I have been working for a more local, organic diet for the last several years. I've been slowly losing weight and increasing my activity, but my cholesterol continues to rise. So several weeks ago, I decided to limit my diet to what I can grow/catch myself, or *could* as it's a bit early in the growing season for that and I don't have a bunch left over from last year. I'm working on eliminating all meat but fish, all dairy products, and eggs. I won't know about my cholesterol for a few more months, but I've been maintaining a weight loss of about a pound a week since I started, without changing anything else. Also, I refuse to give up honey. And, weirdly enough, since about three weeks after I gave up meat, I've stopped having the end-of-work-day edema (water retention/swelling) in my legs.
  3. I just wanted to mention that I'm looking into teaching yoga at some point in the future. Trying to get myself into the mindset for it. I don't know if there's any point to this post. I blame swing shift, which is OVER, thank heavens. Hooray for a regular schedule!
  4. Mine was entirely health reasons. I cut out all artificial sweeteners last year and that alone dropped 12 lbs over 12 months. I increased my activity, and my cholesterol STILL went up. So I decided to go mostly vegan. With the exception of fish, seafood, and honey, I'm trying to keep completely vegan. I've lost six pounds in six weeks and my energy has shot through the roof.
  5. OMG, so nervous, I didn't put anything but super basics up there. I don't know what else to say!

  7. Trying to figure this thing out as we speak. Really going to buckle down and do this.
