  1. You misunderstand both my request and the WD program. I am not looking for someone unfamiliar with the Wild Diet to look it over and give their impression. I'm looking for people who follow or have followed the program to give me their pros and cons. If they joined the Fat Burning Tribe membership program, I want to hear about their experiences with the community and support. I want to hear from people who are in the know to bounce information off of. As for the Wild Diet itself, it was recommended to me by a good friend who had great success on the plan. But, after not being successful on other programs, I had no intention of diving into yet another program and hoping for the best. I'm done with that. So, I've been researching it for weeks now; reading the book, listening to dozens of FBM podcasts, researching some of the experts he's had on to talk about it, etc. I've been a strong believer in the Clean-Eating/Paleo/Primal way of eating for 3 years now. I was even a Crossfitter for 6 months before my adrenals and thyroid gave out and I crashed badly. It's taken quite a bit to come back from, but I'm still working towards my goals. The Wild Diet program is not a 40 day gimmick. I admit that the website gives the strong impression of a huckster sales-pitch; I thought the same thing when I first saw it. The program is a modified paleo/primal way of eating that's quite sustainable. The "20lbs in 40 days" is what the originator of the program (Abel James) did when he changed his eating from a SAD to Paleo/Primal-ish diet. It's a selling point of sorts, nothing more. He doesn't sell food, deprivation, or other typical "diet" ideas. He advocates eating whole, clean foods and rediscovering the joy in eating good food. He does include information about intermittent fasting, but also clarifies that this isn't for everyone and women especially need to proceed with care as it can have an effect on the hormones. As with many other paleo/primal sites online, he offers a 30 day start guide for those who want specific guidance in starting the program as well as a shopping guide, recipes, and other resources. As someone who knows paleo/primal pretty well, I haven't utilized the 30 day start guide though I may check it out as a comparison to what I'm doing now to see where I can improve. As for the sites you suggested, I've been through them many times. I have tried a Whole 30, going AIP, following strict Paleo, even tried to follow a couple of Challenges here on NF and I've failed to sustain any of these more than a week or so, which is why my commitment and satisfaction with the Wild Diet has been a pleasant surprise. This is also why I want to keep researching it, to learn as much as I can (and find support from people who understand the program) as I continue to find success. That's why I made the post, but you are correct in that only I can determine what works for me. Still, as I don't have much support at home, I can only seek it out online. So I will continue to do so.
  2. As a former professional cook and baker, that isn't an issue, I assure you. What I want to know is... Is anyone is following this plan? If so, are you paying for the Fat Burning Tribe subscription or for any of the cookbooks or other resources for sale? Does it work for you? Was it worth the money you paid (if any)? Would you recommend it to others? What advice would you give someone who's new to following the plan? I have roughly 125lbs to lose (starting at 282) and have been on many programs since I hit the 200lb mark over 20 years ago. I've counted calories, carbs, points, etc and have learned a lot over the years. Tracking sucks and I'm terrible at it. I have metabolic syndrome (high insulin resistance) and my adrenals are severely fatigued, throwing my thyroid off (I'm on meds for the thyroid). That's why finding paleo/primal/Wild Diet has been great. Now I really want to make it work for me and start getting the numbers on the scale to go down, for the inches on my measurements to go down, and to start feeling strong, fast, and supple. For me, if it was as simple as just "learning to cook", I would be fitness porn gorgeous by now. Believe me, as a lifelong binge and emotional eater, there's a lot more to getting healthy than just "learning to cook." I'm on NF to seek the support and advice to get healthy, not to be thrown BS platitudes. Those hurt and don't work.
  3. Greetings programs! I have a query regarding the Wild Diet from Abel James. I bought the book and have been listening to his podcasts. It makes a lot of sense to me and I've been applying many of the guidelines to my diet over the last two weeks. The changes I've seen are varied: a gain of 1lb, a small breakout of acne, moods have evened out, and cravings and binges have lessened to almost nothing. I have not yet added in any kind of workout. (That starts today.) I've been enjoying the food tremendously and I feel this is a positive way for me to go, even with some diet obstacles I face with paleo/primal (I have some reactions to coconut and nuts in strong/large doses; I have an extremely limited budget, so going solely grass-fed/organic isn't an option, though I buy some when and were I can.) Is anyone part of the Fat Burning Tribe online? Has it helped you progress towards your goals? Is it worth the money? Would you recommend joining or would joining the NF Academy be a better use of funds? I need to take my journey to the next level, but I'm short of funds and am trying to decide what will give me the best bang for my buck. Would love to hear some pros and cons. Thanks!

  5. The Great Sisyphus Challenge of Valyria Watersinger as told by DrCompanion Chapter 43 Never Give Up, Never Surrender Valyria stared into the dirty mirror, forcing her eyes into objective focus. The hideousness of the sight glared back at her in defiance and pain; every curve, every lump screaming at her to look away. It had only been a few short years ago since its last race, its last lift, and it knew it all too well. The void of sadness left behind had long since burned away, leaving only jagged clumps of regret in its place. “Yes, the medical issues could be considered a reason, but...†Valyria thought as she continued to stare, disgust rising like bile in her throat, “there are no reasons that are truly acceptable.†She knew this stray line of thinking was nothing more than a leftover mechanism of the mind, developed from her difficult upbringing and subsequent abusive first marriage. But, as with all learned responses, she recognized it for what it was and swiftly shoved it aside. Valyria took a deep breath and raised her arm. Touch... open... touch... focus... touch... click. Turn. Touch... open... rinse... repeat... She turned off the bathroom light and walked upstairs, the newly created images forever captured via pixel. As she sat on the edge of her bed, she opened her Gallery and looked at the pictures. She willed herself to find that spark within herself that she knew lay there. Bravery is not being unafraid. It's being afraid and doing it anyway. Valyria looked up at her wall. The images of success, the race bibs and medals hanging there, reminding her of those moments of bravery garnered only a few short years ago. The smile on her face in each and every picture whispered to her. She knew what she needed to do. Memo app in hand, she began to scribble out ideas, both vague and specific. The scribbles became a list. The list became a plan. She let her thoughts flow freely and allowed her limits to dissolve. Her hand moved with deliberate speed, jotting down anything that came to mind, eliminating any negativity that tried to enter into this new world. “No more negativity. There's been too much of that already. I will find a way. I will work the problem.†After she could scribble no more, she chose four goals to continue her journey with; four seemingly simple goals that would challenge her to find her strength yet again and sacrifice her known comfort level. Unlike the four books in 'The Time Machine', these would not be kept secret. She would declare these goals in a public forum best suited to her needs, where support and care would be found to assist her on her new adventure. Valyria closed the app and placed the phone on the table beside her bed. Curling under her covers, she considered the journey she was about to undertake. Her eyes quietly closed and a soft smile curled along her lips as a final thought drifted through her sleepy mind... “The game is afoot, Watson. Let us begin...†The Goals of Valyria Watersinger 1) drink 1 gallon of water per day (preferably not all in the evening) 2) eat a vegetable with one meal every day 3) deliberate activity 2x/week (doesn't matter what it is as long as it's conscious and active) 4) play with the kids for 1 solid hour every day (no tv or electronics, get down on the floor or outside)
  6. Can't post anything! GRRRRR!! My posts are NOT spam. Stoopid technology.

  7. Sent hubby to tore after he got out of work. He came home with peanut butter, diapers, and a BluRay copy of the 25th Anniversary edition of The Last Starfighter. I love this man so hard, it hurts sometimes. ;)

  8. Researched some new activity ideas today. Think I'm decided on DDP Yoga.
