  1. Done! Much easier than I expected. Can't wait for the next one. All A's in my three challenges. Decided to join the Rangers after re-reading the guild descriptions so I will be doing my next challenge there Lost 5 pounds. Can now run a 5k. Am much stronger. All good things. I just need more goals to keep me on track.
  2. Thanks guys! I had today off and in addition to doing my weights I did a 3 hour hike. It ended with a waterfall. Very nice. I have been thinking about my next challenge and I think I want to join the Adventurers, because I like to do a little of everything for now. I want to keep up the diet/calorie counting, keep up the running and weights but add in 2 days a week of mandatory swimming and biking. And then in add in a personal quest about studying for the GRE maybe.
  3. Wow! All of your food pictures make me want to try Paleo. Looks so delicious!
  4. Oh also I am 5'8. And because I love looking at people's pics I thought I would post some. This is what I looked like in the 140's (still thought I was fat then! Silly) And this is what I look like in the 170s (or pretty close anyway) - And for good measure this is what I looked like back in the day in the 180s - So basically trying to get back to that first picture, and maybe a little stronger/in better shape.
  5. Oh forgot all about posting my weigh-in/progress here. On the 27th I was: 167 So down five pounds for this month. yay. Slightly over my goal of 4 pounds. Also lost a few inches and finished the C25K this week! Next week I am going to try to jog for 33 minutes 3X a week. I signed up for a 5k on April 26th, so I have that as motivation to keep jogging this month. I've been doing well this week, still have all As. I've yet to miss a workout in this whole challenge, and have eaten over only two days. Cool. Only one week left. I feel like it's very easy to be super motivated for 2-3 months though, but I've never really held on to being motivated for longer than that. As far as eating/fitness went anyway. This time it is my plan to always have some kind of event on the horizon to train for, so I literally have to workout and watch what I eat. So the 5k in April, the Odyssey in May, and the sprint Tri in August should get me through the summer, and then I will have to go from there. Who knows? Maybe a 10k or a longer tri? Depends on what my level is then. Also hoping that joining a guild and doing those challenges will help.
  6. Still doing well. I decided to weigh myself once every month officially and my weigh in is on the 27th (when my roommates and I took our measurement for P90) so I have four more days. Average weight in high school/college -180 Weight when I moved back to U.S. - 145 Highest weight since coming back (a month or so ago) - 174 (SO close to my old fat weight!) Current weight - 172, but I am hoping I have lost a few pounds this past month.
  7. Halfway done! Still doing awesome so far. I have eaten over 2 unplanned days, and have kept up with all of my workouts! So far I have As in all of my challenges. I have even added in some swimming and yoga to the mix! Only two more weeks left of the C25K, when I started it 7 weeks ago I was honestly unsure if I would make it to the end, but now I am very confident in my ability, and it feels great to actually be lifting again. I think the 10lb dumbbells I am using are starting to feel light and I will move on to 15lbs soon. So glad I finally started to take fitness and health seriously again. For a long time after my mom's diagnosis I thought I would never care about stuff like this again.
  8. Yeah, plus I seemed to get fat all at once so I am hoping the same happens for getting skinny again. I was being sedentary and eating junk ever since I got a car but I kept not gaining weight and thought I was immune for months and months and then suddenly it felt like overnight I was not happy with my body/not fitting in clothes/and about 25 lbs heavier. Soo I'm going for the same in reverse.
  9. This week has been going really well. My friend gave me her old gym membership for my birthday and I have been doing my jogging there and swimming for half an hour afterwards which feels awesome, today I did a Zumba class with a friend from work which was so not fun, but hopefully decent cardio. Today was my eating over day for the week so this weekend I have to stay pretty strict. I don't think I am losing any weight yet even though I have been calorie counting/exercising for about a month now, but I feel like I am definitely getting fitter so that's good.
  10. Thank you. It just sucks being such a downer all the time and not having much you can do to change the situation. But I'm working on it. Gonna go jogging in a minute then do P90. Want to get back on track this week.
  11. Thanks everyone! I thought I did terrible calorie-wise on my actual birthday but I just tracked the calories a day late and was only like 157 over, so I am going to count that as a victory even though it was technically over again. Last night I went out for a friend's birthday which I thought would be a small, quiet type celebration but I ended up spending way too much money gambling and drinking again, this time in moderation but still waaay more calories than I would have liked, I was over by a little over 100. So that is two days this week I ate over outside of my one approved day. But now all of the birthdays are over and I have nothing to celebrate the next four weeks of the challenge and I am re-dedicated to doing well. Also given all the money I spent this month/booze I drank I think I have a pretty good life goal for the next challenge: keep a stricter budget and have a 2 drink max when I go out. I think this will be much easier without all the b-days though. Today I have to do the P90 and jog tonight (not to mention working all day) which I am not looking forward to on the small amount of sleep I got but it needs to be done. I am extremely stressed out lately by my life (my mom has pancreatic cancer and I am her main support system, I keep having to take my car to the shop, I am going back to school for a Masters degree soon which means I am stuck in this city I hate another few years and will accrue more debt than I am comfortable with, my brother is stuck in a terrible marriage and complains to me about it all the time, I feel like nothing in my life will get much better because I went through all of this 2-3 years ago when my dad was sick and died) and I feel like I can either deal with that stress in a healthy way, by trying to eat well and exercise and live very cleanly, or I can deal with it in a very unhealthy way by going out and drinking and trying to forget about it, and this whole week I have chosen the later when I really need to start choosing the former.
  12. Last night was definitely over calorie night for the week. It was all calories from alcohol. Ugh. I rarely go out and drink but the past two times I have I have drank way too much, need to tone it down. That means the rest of the week I need to stay under. Staying up on the exercise, today is my day off of P90 and running though. As a birthday gift a friend gave me her old gym membership because she is moving away and they have a pool, so I am excited to add in swimming and maybe yoga classes to my fitness routine.
  13. Still doing well. Eating at my calories, jogged last night, just did day 4 of P90. This week will be a little tough because it is my birthday and my best friends birthday and there will be lots of parties/dinners/lunches to celebrate those things. I'm going to try and stick to only one day of eating over though. Maybe Friday on the day of my birthday.
  14. So my roommate who has also been gaining weight decided to buy P90 and commit to doing it for 90 days, which is awesome because he is usually a super sedentary guy who just plays video games all day. Me and my other roommate are doing it with him, so instead of the Nerd Fitness body weight routine I have changed my strength training goal to keeping up with the P90 program this six weeks. We did the first one this morning and it was much easier than I had anticipated. It feels awesome to know my roommates are actually on board with my new healthier lifestyle this time because I feel like they were a contributing factor in my weight gain. I work all day and then tonight I go for the 20 minute jog. I feel so good about everything this first week. Except for the before picture I took today for P90. I have gotten so chubby it is ridiculous. Can't wait to be back to where I was last summer. I am hoping by June I will be.
  15. Good day. I woke up and did my BBWW then worked all day. Ate well at work even though there was much more delicious unhealthy food available. Looking forward to jogging a full 20 minutes tomorrow. I feel like I am finally starting to lose weight after 8 months of steadily gaining weight so that is awesome.
  16. I used to use Livestrong when I first started tracking years ago and lost 30 pounds and used to love the forums and go on there everyday, but then they randomly got rid of them which was crazy! So this time going back to tracking I started with MyfitnessPal to get sort of a fresh start. I like it so far, but I think it is calculating the calories I need differently and over calculates calories burned. I am hoping these forums become just as awesome and motivating for me, I just need to spend more time actually getting to know people, discovering this general chat thread will help I think. Hi everyone!
  17. Just went jogging. Today I went on the treadmill because it was windy and cold and was happily surprised by how much faster I could go on flat ground. It is still easy so far, which is good because in the past I have done the C25K and struggled around these weeks. I am probably going to go 200-300 calories over today because I am going out with a friend to a show and drinks but I only plan on being under my goal 6 days a week so I am not too concerned about it, it just means I have to eat on track all weekend.
  18. Just finished my BBWW of the day. So far I have just been doing the exercises twice but next week I will go for three times. It is just frustrating because last time I was working out I was capable of doing so much more. I would do 40-50 minute workouts with 15-20lb weights on every exercise, so now to think that 10 minutes of body weight exercises is hard sucks. I will get back there though, and even stronger I hope! I also took one of the dogs for a 40 minute walk on the hill out back. Eating within my calorie range. I hope this whole 6 weeks is this easy, but I know it will get harder later.
  19. Good second day. Just got back from jogging day 1 of week 5 of the C25K. Chose to stay home and cook a meal within my calorie limits instead of going out to dinner with the roommates. Didn't eat super healthy (had a turkey-bacon sandwich and popcorn for dinner), but I stayed under my calories and that's all I am really worrying about this first challenge. I looked up 5ks in my area in the next two months and they were all like obstacle courses or had weird themes I didn't like so I am hesitant to sign up for one.
  20. Sounds like great goals and motivation. I am really sedentary at my job too and trying to work walking in more often on my breaks so I'm not just standing and sitting all day.
  21. Ah that is good motivation! Hope you get the money. Now I kind of want to make a monetary bet with my roommates.
  22. Day 1: Went well, I did my body weight workout and went for a 40 minute walk with my roommate on a hill behind our place (where I usually do my jogging). I am within my calories for the day and have a healthy meal in the crockpot already. So excited about this six weeks!
  23. Oh we have similar goals and quests! Good luck!
  24. Thanks guys! I haven't signed up for a 5k but I have signed up for a bigger event at the end of May, so I am trying to get into shape for that. It is called an Odyssey and it is a giant relay race ran in a team, and each member has three sections. One of my bosses at work recruited me to do it for a company team and told me I could have 3 of the easiest, flattest sections that would only be about 3 miles. So I am actually training to run 3 different 5Ks over the course of two days, but I have three months to prepare for it so I'm trying not to freak out about it yet and have 2 full months to figure out how to train for it better after completing C25K.
  25. Main Quest I would like to lose the 30 pounds I have gained since moving back to America, and especially since buying a car 5 months ago. I don't expect to do this in 6 weeks but want to at least get on track and start. To achieve this, I have three specific goals: Run 3 days per week using the Couch-to-5 K program. I am already on the 4th week so for the last two weeks my goal will just be running around a 2 mile trail on a hill behind my house 3 times a week. A – Completed C25K and kept up with running in the remaining 2 weeks B – Skipped 1-3 runs C – Skipped 4-6 runs D – Skipped 7-9 runs F – Skipped more than 9 runs Performing the Beginning Body weight workout on NF three times a week, and adding some upper body barbell exercises I used to do regularly. A – Completed all 18 workouts B – Skipped 1-3 workouts C – Skipped 3-6 workouts D – Skipped 6-9 workouts F – Skipped more than 9 workouts. Tracking my food daily and staying within my calorie range at least 6 days a week. A – Tracked every day and stayed within my goals! B – Missed tracking or ate over goal 1-3 days C – Missed tracking or ate over goal 3-6 days D – Missed tracking or ate over goal 6-9 days F – Missed tracking or ate over goal more than 9 days Motivation: I have been overweight and uncomfortable with my body most of my life. Two years ago I finally lost 30 pounds and had been at a healthy weight and happy about it until recently when I moved back to the U.S. (I was living in Mexico for a few years) and resumed an average American diet and sedentary lifestyle and gained back the 30 pounds over the course of about six months. I am sick of living this way and need to go back to how I was before and make healthy eating, preparing my own meals, and exercising regularly a part of my life again.
