  1. For anyone who this can help, I found some Champion brand sports bras that are very similar to the Enell ones at Academy for around $20 each. I've had them for about 7 months now and they are very comfortable to wear for everyday use.
  2. I don't personally have any bad gym experiences, but in elementary school (k-5 here in th US) I witnessed multiple times when the less athletic kids were treated badly. IMO, I think some schools encourage the dark side of competition, or at the very least, passively allow it to happen. I'm all for competition, but only the kind that encourages people to improve their weaknesses, not tear others down.
  3. What a lot of people don't understand is that the opposite of love and acceptance is not hate, but indifference. A person who truly has no love for their own body doesn't hate it, but rather doesn't care what happens to it. They wouldn't care about their vitals like blood pressure and cholesterol, or that stronger muscles and greater flexibility will help protect form injury. They wouldn't care that losing (or gaining) weight would help improve their quality of life and enable them to do things they couldn't do before. Think about it. If people really didn't love their body, ads for the beauty industry would have absolutely no effect. The messages of these advertisements work so well, because people for the most part DO love their bodies and therefore want their bodies to be the best they can possibly be. Hatred is nothing more than a twisted form of love. The problem with these advertisements is that they turn people's love for their body into hatred that then fuels profits by trying to mold the idea of "best" into something that is unattainable by the majority and is ever changing. "Is it possible to love and accept my body while wanting to shed some pounds?" I believe by definition, its definitely possible.
  4. Woot! Just pulled 225lbs for the first time for 2 reps!
  5. I've always wondered what the deal with chocolate is. Why chocolate specifically? I would imagine there is some sort of nutrient in there that the body wants, but I can't think of any that are exclusive to chocolate that the body would logically want around the time of menstruation.
  6. I don't think waste belongs in pants.
  7. One of my favorite lines from that series
  8. Google image search was...interesting. Decided to post the "interesting" pictures (**WARNING** One of them is NSFW): And here is the closest thing to a serious comparison that the image search could find on its own (I'll give you points for effort, Google)
  9. What made me smile yesterday: scored 20 lbs of meat for less than $20 What made me smile today: almost squatted my body weight for 3 sets of 5 (missed the very last rep, but its still a PR for me)
  10. So as it turns out,it was a form issue holding me back. Specifically, I wasn't focusing on my grip, and it was slipping without me being aware, causing the rest of my form to deteriorate. In fact, I was losing focus on the lift in general. I am now pleased to say that I just did 205 lbs for a set of 5 with no form issues.
  11. I'm not sure who my figure looks like, but here is me back in August: Google image search was...interesting.
  12. At least you're easy to find in a crowd.
  13. Something that has been a mystery to me since middle school: Why did I see so many boys holding the crotch of their pants like someone was going run up and snatch their thing at any moment? For culture timeframe, this was from early to late 2000s. All through middle and high school, I saw guys of all types standing around, walking, and running while holding their crotch regardless of whether their pants were sagging or not. Could one of you shed some light on this?
  14. More funny than weird, but I didn't see any other threads that were more appropriate.
  15. The buckling happens at the start of the lift, before the bar reaches my knees.
  16. Is it ok if I do deadlifts more than once a week to correct serious knee caving issues, or would I just be working against myself recovery-wise? My knees are caving in all of a sudden at weights were they weren't before, and my deadlift isn't all that heavy to begin with (185 lbs, just barely got 190 lbs today with very bad caving on first rep). The weird part is that this only happens on the first rep, and I never have caving issues on my squat. In fact, I don't even think about my knees on squats anymore.
  17. I can now do a deadhang pullup! *cheering* Now to work on the issue of one side pulling faster than the other side
  18. Not to mention better access to food and possessing the knowledge that bathing on a regular basis won't kill you.
  19. I see you point about not doing anything at all. They should have called the animal shelter. That's what I did when I found two stray dogs living on my college campus. I didn't want to go near them because they had clear signs of mange, but didn't want to just do nothing either.
