  1. Wow, way to go asking someone for form help in the gym! I know that had to be intimidating, but results are all that matter. Good to hear you're feeling the soreness, keep up the progress!
  2. Thank you for the kind words everyone! Day 2 started with a remarkable hunger. Its hard to comprehend how intense this new need to eat is, and how suddenly it has come... I started my challenge before the challenge truly started, at least the eating portion of it. I'd say i'm closer to three or four days of eating three meals a day, and my stomach's adaptation was astoundingly fast! I'll have to stock more food and look into more things I can pre-cook... I began this morning with a sausage egg and cheese sandwich and a banana. I have some trail-mix to tide me over until lunch time... so far so good. Don't feel like last night's mini bodyweight workout did much, so i'll be making some adaptations today to get a better feel of what my evening workouts not at the gym should be comprised of. Pictures and tape-measuring to come before today is over for me. I should use this slow time at work to stretch and release what tension I can; being more in tune with my body only alerts me to how much of a little rod of tensed muscles and bone I am! Its not doing me any favors in my day to day, nor is it good for my musical pursuits.
  3. I'm aiming for warrior, but with my current state of progress i'm more built to excel as a ranger. Versatility is great, but the lack of specialization/having one true and major strength has been frustrating up to this point! Perhaps my perception will change with time during this challenge, we'll see! Also happy tuesday from the east coast, I hope everyone's day 2 starts with success and ends with victory! Is it possible to have a happy tuesday...?
  4. I'm sick of shadows. Being built for stealth and guile doesn't mean one should be restricted to the trappings of their nature. Change begins now! Stats: Race: Tiefling Sex - Male Age - 25 Height - 5'11 ish Weight - 160 Main Quest: Prove my dedication to the growth of strength in hopes of earning my way into the ranks of the warrior's guild. No longer will I eat like a beggar, a scavenger... My form will be fueled, my work will be fruitful, my progress palpable. Missions 1. Most importantly, eat at least three substantial meals a day. No concern with strict calorie counting or drastic diet changes yet; The habit needs to be instilled. As written above, I have the eating habits of a stingy beggar: more content to hold coin and starve than be fed with less in the purse... although the deficit is more from the excuse of lacking time rather than tight-fistedness. 2. Train a steady three times a week minimum. This can be bodyweight exercises, weight training at the gym... whatever can be managed. Again, obligations were used as an excuse beforehand, and shall be no longer. The time given to me for the challenge is a good time to release the tension and lack of flexibility from my frame, as well as focus on the form i'll need for proper heavy weightlifting. 3. Keep note of all these events. Torn on whether to record eating every day, or just record workouts (exercises, amount of sets and reps). In this recording, I also must do a weekly weigh-in and tape measuring so I and everyone else can see what I can accomplish. If all goes well, i'll be accepted as a warrior for sure! Life Quest Practice a bit of bass every night. Moonlighting as a bard (however chaotic and dissonant) is fun and a distraction; I need more reasons to smile... music is certainly one for me. Background I'm a beanpole, I think... i'm told otherwise, but I know I can be cruel to myself. Its a motivator I shouldn't use, and i'm actively weening myself off of such and onto more positive pushing. I have muscle definition, but I yearn for strength. The smithy work (automotive repair stuff actually!) i'm soon to begin will require strength, and i'd like to have it in abundance. I also am interested in seeing how much more energy and stubborn willpower I can summon once I feed myself like I care about my own general well-being. I think thats enough for the starter post. I'm just getting in from night-classes; Time for a few sets of some bodyweight exercises, a bit of warrior reading (picked up starting strength to read through in anticipation), and then a fair night's sleep.
  5. Welcome Maffeo, i'm new to the rebellion as well! Fencing sounds like a lot of fun, and fun certainly does make sticking with plans a whole lot easier in my book. Good to see you're already making some progress, I wish you luck and look forward to seeing more good news!
  6. Welcome Fudweiser! I'm a newbie too, those are some serious numbers you're going for. Wishing the best of luck and looking forward to watching along your journey, it can be done with perseverance!
  7. Hello fellow rebels! It took some time to finally get this done, but i'm here! Suppose i'm to give a bit of backstory here right? I'm actually in pretty good shape. I was never really a sporty guy, took martial arts for awhile way back in elementary school, the discipline and focus stayed with me for life (Wish the flexibility did ). Did armed drill team in high-school, worked a pretty physical medical equipment job for a bit... transitioning into the automotive industry this March! Oh oh and i've played instruments for most of my life and gosh there's a lot of stuff I could put here, we'll get into more of that stuff later! Ask me questions if you like, I can be chatty! I'm here, as the thread title eluded to, to build up some more strength and muscle-mass. I'm terrible at eating regularly because of my packed schedule that I used as an excuse for a long time. I'm going to make changes, but i'll need some help. I'll be doing this challenge coming up for sure, and would like to take the path of the ranger! Looking forward to helping people where I can as well! Just to indulge my nerdiness, I went tiefling because I have dark skin, dreadlocks, piercings... super dark-brown eyes, I play and listen to a ton of metal and such to justify the unsettling/evil aura, good old musical dissonance <3 It also suited me better than something like dark elf. Can't wait to level up and start throwin' points around! Should I take some pictures or go into what I can currently achieve physically ooooor what do people like for newbies to share anyways?
