  1. Not a very productive weekend.... Me on Friday night - "I can't wait for crazy workout time tomorrow" then went out after work to buy stuff to build some parallettes and a pull-up bar for my garage. Me on Saturday morning - "cough cough. Urghh I'm dying" then rolled up in my duvet and slept for the day.
  2. Hey fellow darksiders. Apologies for my absence, been arranging moving house *yay* It seems a million new challenges have started up since I last checked in so looks like I'm going to be busy on my day off tomorrow
  3. I find it really funny and it's a good way to show people what it's like too. That little voice that gets louder and louder until you can't take it anymore and you have to get up and move someone else's cup onto a coaster
  4. I don't think I've ever seen a gif that so accurately portrayed my mood
  5. Not made any more progress this week as I've been busy adulting. Planning to move house and I've had meeting after meeting, solicitors, banks, mortgage brokers, estate agents... I believe there is a gym near the new house though, might be tempted to truly join the dark side
  6. 2 days in and I'm pretty much done with baselining everything now. Bit of a mixed bag really. I've found I am much weaker in some areas than others, but that's part of the fun of a challenge like this. I get to find out my weaknesses and make them my strengths.
  7. I didn't even notice that for a while Also, Dark Side Bros *high five*
  8. Keeping to a routine when on the move can be tough. Good luck with it
  9. Gifs and cats. Looks like you meet the Assassin entry requirements Best of luck
  10. I've not been great at keeping up with these (I didn't even know about the new 4-week format) but the previous mini-challenge has inspired me to get back in to calisthenics training. It's so much fun and I get a real buzz from learning a new move that I never really get from other exercises. I have put together a list of exercises, roughly increasing in difficulty and covering different areas (these were from the book Complete Calisthenics which I thoroughly recommend): Push-ups Standard Wide-grip Close-grip Archer Fingertip One arm (legs apart) One arm (legs together) One arm, one leg Superman Spider Clap Back clap Pull-ups Chin-up Pull-up Wide-grip Close-grip Rock Climber Horizontal Finger pull-up Typewriter One-arm (assisted) One-arm Muscle-up Dips Box Tricep Front Handstands Wall walk Wall-supported Freestanding Handstand 90 degree Levers planche planche push-up Front lever Back lever German hang Human flag Floor Squats Single leg squats Sit-ups V-ups Dragon flag Hanging Knee raise Leg raise Wipers The main focus of this challenge is going to be around the mastery of each move. I don't just want to be able to complete a move. I want to be comfortable and controlled throughout a full set. In the mini I must admit that I was not very happy with my form in a lot of the exercises. I'm glad I exercise alone because some of it was embarrassing and swearing throughout a movement doesn't exactly show poise. I am not expecting to complete everything within the space of this challenge but it should be plenty to keep me going. I will be marking off each exercise as I go, highlighting beginner level in red, intermediate in orange and mastery in green. Beginner will be when I can just about grit my teeth and push through one rep (I'm loooking at you one arm push-up) Mastery level will be achieved when I can perform 3 sets or 3 (or 3 sets of 10 second holds depending on the move) and maintaining good form and control thoughout.
  11. An Unexpected Journey My wife was asked if she could step in as a replacement to run an archery coaching course this weekend (expenses paid + bonus pay for being last minute ) and I thought I might as well tag along. I was planning to sit at the back and fletch some arrows or something but was dispatched this morning to buy lunch. Shortly after leaving the hall I found myself at the bottom of a large hill and a sign for a public footpath. Got some time, might as well make the most of it... 3 hours later and I'm exploring the hills of the Peak District... Making some new friends along the way... and I even found a spot to finish off the week's exercises... Not a bad day
  12. Didn't think I would manage that one-handed press-up but a one-handed pull-up.... no chance.
