  1. Sounds like you got the short end of the stick Moralitea. Lucky clone!
  2. Ok, caught up. This thread has me cracking up already. From your picture with the bed head (hilarious!), to the difficulties between imperial and metric. I love the post about the sleeping bag, I can totally see that skit happening in my head. And regarding the Aussies (I work with a team from Sydney) the only thing we can NEVER figure out is how to tell each other how hot or cold it is. Oh, and that damned picture makes me thirsty. Damn you beer for being so good!
  3. Lol, that's one hell of a post. Sounds like you did pretty well regardless of the beating you took from the travel and such!
  4. Woot! Here now! Going to catch up on your thread now.
  5. For those who are beginners to Zombies, Run! here is a tip that really helped me when I first started with it (and still does when I'm not feeling great running): Set a playlist with songs long enough to wear you out when you run the whole length of them (3-5min for me), and then walk during the story parts (usually around 30 seconds) and run to your music. This really helped push me to eventually be able to run more consistently and for longer amounts of time. I have different playlists with lengths of songs that will adapt to how I feel. For when I'm exhausted, I choose songs that are shorter, and when I want to push myself I choose songs that are longer in length. I've got a playlist that is about 8min long songs that I use when I really want to go for a LONG time.
  6. The only thing that helped me with shin splints was losing weight. I had them bad when I was over 200lbs, now at 180-190 (190 currently) I don't really have too many issues. But you are correct on the stabilizers being built up over time and it becoming less of an issue.
  7. Lol, super nerdy way of saying crazy cat lady. Very clever name! And elder scrolls are a great series, I highly recommend them! They will eat up a TON of time though.
  8. Loved the blog post Spark. Well put, and very good description of NF! Keep those shoulder stretches up. I'm currently rehabbing my shoulder as well, and I've found out that I have some serious range of motion issues too. They're really a bear to deal with!
  9. Haha, glad to you have guys with me. Well, yesterday overall was a good day. Worked on rehabbing that shoulder, but it's definitely still sore. The good thing is that I'm being able to focus on some items that I normally don't focus on, like core, arms, etc... So while I'm missing out on some of my favorite lifts temporarily, hopefully I'll be building up some weaker areas at the same time. And it'll give me more time to do cardio! Today will be two times at the gym, because I'm meeting a friend there after work. I've got a Kayla leg day today as well, and I'm a bit afraid of what she's going to have me do! Alcohol: Went and watched hockey with my friends. Had beer, was tasty. Had more beer when I got home, which wasn't as good of an idea... I really need to be stronger.
  10. That's actually a good question Xanjra. I'm really not sure how to do it. The only way I've ever been able to feel confident is when I feel like I'm in good shape. It's probably not the "right" way, it's just what I know. What's slow exposure therapy? And I love to dance, so that kind of class would be a lot of fun!
  11. /agree with Sarah. I often feel that it's not appropriate or correct for me to ask questions of certain people, thankfully with Twilight I know it's not going to be perceived as a bad thing. Thanks Twilight!
  12. Welcome Ninja, most of us here use either a c25k or Zombies, Run! to help us out on our runs. But we're happy to have anyone who wants to get more into running!
  13. Lol, ouch Twilight! I assume you end up with some bruises and such from those rope hangs? Pretty cool though. How did you decide to get into that?
  14. I feel you on the handstands Hazard. Seemed so easy when I was a kid, now they're likely to kill me. Good luck with them!
  15. Question for everyone: On your average run, how many miles / km do you run? I'm finding that I always want to do about 3 miles, but I'm wondering if I'd be fine doing less. Sometimes I think that maybe I'm psyching myself out of running because I put that 3 mile standard in my head. I COULD go out and run a quick mile or something like that, but instead I do nothing because it's not 3 miles. Pretty dumb huh?
  16. Very cool! After getting fitted for my running shoes, I've tried others that I thought would have worked and they haven't. I love my running shoes and will try to buy them every chance I get. It's so nice having a correctly fitted shoe. One less thing to think about when you're out doing your road work.
  17. New thread for anyone still following! http://rebellion.nerdfitness.com/index.php?/topic/49777-xahn-challenge-3-a-refocus/
  18. Xahns Challenge 3 Hello everyone, thanks for joining me on my 3rd challenge. I've been pretty successful with my first two challenges, and I'm excited for the third. I've decided to refocus a little bit on myself and less on the lifting and diet (because they're mostly perfect anyway, it's the other stuff that holds me back). Embarrassingly, I've got rediculous will power for food and working out, but am completely undisciplined in the rest of my life. I think it's time to fix that. Main Quest: Drop below 10% Body Fat: It's about to hit 100 degree weather here in Texas, so I want to be as lean as possible. I also suffer from sever body dismorphism, and consciously have to fight it all the time. If I'm leaner, I think less about it. It's actually a little bit of an obsession, and I'm so tired of feeling like that. I'm embarrassed to be touched, take my shirt off, and enjoy my life. I know I SHOULDN'T feel this way, but I do. Side Quests: 3 leg days per week - I'm super obsessed with building my legs. I used to hate leg workouts, but now I love them. I enjoy all types of squats, dead lifts, lunges, box jumps, etc... I'd also like to work in some plyometric type leg days into this as well. Chances are I'll be in the gym about 5-7 times a week anyway. +4 STR Shoulder Rehab - I'm having an issue with my rotator cuff right now on my right shoulder. It's made it so I can't do a lot of work with my shoulder which is hitting all upper body movements. Rather than pushing it farther, I need to find out what's wrong and correct it. I've already started some light rehab work, and need to get in to the doctor and likely get an MRI. Regardless, it's time to fix this. +4 WIS Drink Less Alcohol - I go out and drink with my friends almost all the time. It's taken a toll on my diet, my health, and my sleep habits. I cannot keep doing this. I'm fairly sure I'd be lean as heck if it weren't for this stupid and detrimental habit. I'm also starting to worry that maybe it's becoming a problem. Alcoholism runs in my family, so I need to be very aware of what I'm doing. +2 Char +2 WIS Life Quest: Buy a Bike - I've been telling myself since I moved to Austin Tx that I would buy a bike. I'm at the perfect spot to ride, and I haven't done it. I really need to do it and go exploring around here. It's such a fun place to live, and I'm just a few miles from everything that's really cool! +4 STA That's about it! If you have any questions or comments about my journey, please feel free to ask.
  19. Good luck Nora. That's a lot of writing to do whilst keeping up with the challenge. Subbed.
  20. Hey Chris, Are you going to be able to keep up with challenges with your new job? I know it must be a lot more challenging.
  21. Nice Spark, can't wait till your shoulders loosen up enough for those squats! You'll love 'em! Subbed.
  22. Hey Bouldersnap, do you have a new thread yet?
  23. Hey Xanjra! I'm here too now! Subbed! Good luck on the challenge.
  24. Sorry Xanjra, I haven't posted it up yet. Was out of town all weekend moving 2 different friends, finally back to life. I'll post it up today. It's going to be much lighter than my previous challenges since my shoulder is having problems.
  25. UPDATE 6/4: Chest and Pull Day Bench: Set 1: 135 x 12 Set 2: 155 x 5 Set 3: 185 x 4 Set 4: 185 x 3 Set 5: 185 x 3 Set 6: 185 x 3 NOTE: I'm really frustrated with bench right now. I feel like I should NOT be having problems with 185, yet it's still a struggle. Reverse Grip Barbell Bent Over Rows: Set 1: 135 x 8 Set 2: 155 x 6 Set 3: 165 x 6 Set 4: 165 x 6 Incline Dumbbell Press: Set 1: 65 x 8 Set 2: 70 x 8 Set 3: 75 x 6 Set 4: FAIL Neutral Cable Seated Rows: Set 1: 135 x 8 Set 2: 145 x 8 Set 3: 155 x 8 Set 4: 165 x 8 Reverse Grip Neutral Cable Seated Rows: Set 1: 135 x 8 Set 2: 135 x 8 Set 3: 135 x 6 Set 4: 135 x 6 Dips: Set 1: bw x 6 Set 2: bw x 6 Set 3: bw x 3 Cable Triceps Push Down: Set 1: 135 x 8 Set 2: 155 x 8 Set 3: 175 x 8 NOTE: Shoulder started to hurt again doing this... Even after taking a week off. OVERALL: This was a pretty bad day at the gym for me. I didn't get a good sweat going, no matter how long I was working on things I didn't feel like I got into a rhythm, and I just did NOT feel strong. Granted I had a huge workout yesterday, and I missed two meals, but still... Days like this are tough. Also, the mirror made fun of me today.
