  1. Keeping updated: 1. Been adding weight to the barbells, it's going ok. I think I tried to increase the weight a bit too fast initially but I'm getting an idea of how to handle that. 2. The snow is gone, but now it's just raining constantly. I'm totally being a huge baby about this, I usually run in the rain without any issues. I think I've been putting more of my energy into the lifting, so maybe I need to scale that back until the marathon is completed. 3. Still haven't found a magic veggie snack that I love, but keeping up my kale and broccoli intake for sure! My little kale baby kales are sprouting up nicely, can't wait until I can transplant them out to the garden.
  2. And you're a climber now too?? Way to go! Climbing is great exercise, super fun and it makes you feel so pumped and accomplished! Especially if you're hiding a small fear of heights...
  3. Those are awesome goals! Especially with a kid, it's great to be that kind of healthy role model. I know my son is a big part of why I'm putting in the extra effort to be active. I just spent the last year teaching pre and postnatal fitness classes for new moms, so I know it can be hard to find the time, but your daughter will have doing some of these workouts with you! See how many push ups she can do, kids are so strong!
  4. 1. So far this week, I have gone to the gym and used barbells for the first time! It was a bit intimidating, but I felt so much better for having given it a shot. Just wanted to get a feel for it, next time I will try a more challenging weight too. 2. I live in a city that doesn't usually get a lot of snow, but it snowed for 3 days straight and nobody knows how to clear sidewalks properly! I grew up in a very snowy area, so I know what I'm talking about Running is on hold until things become less treacherous, but there could be a lot of melting today so I'll see what things are like this evening 3. Getting through my bunch of kale in breakfast smoothies and mixed in with mac n cheese. Eating lots of broccoli and peppers too. I need a bigger variety to choose from, just don't know how to snack on veggies
  5. Woo! I'm sure your husband will be impressed! Sounds like you are a lady with a plan.
  6. It's practically rude not to eat treats offered by a grandmother! I'm really impressed you keep a food log too, I am never organized enough for that. I'm sure you'll do awesome at all your goals, you've clearly put a lot of thought into them up front
  7. You can totally do this! Never been a smoker myself but I have been there as a beginner runner! I still remember the first time I lost track of time and ran longer than I was supposed to without a walk break. It felt amazing. Happy to help with any running related questions!
  8. My Main Quest I signed up for a marathon a few months ago with the goal of running under 4 hours this time. I want to stick to that goal, but I have also realized I really want to start lifting weights to get stronger and look better. Missions 1. Go to gym 3x/week and do Starting Strength workouts. A - complete all prescribed workouts at the gym B - complete 18 workouts total, 15 completed with proper equipment at gym C - complete 15 workouts total, 12 completed with proper equipment at gym D - complete 12 workouts total, 10 completed with proper equipment at gym E - complete 10 workouts total, 8 completed with proper equipment at gym F - less that 10 strength training workouts 2. Run 3x/week + 1-2 cross training sessions based on Run Less Run Faster program. A - Complete all workouts as planned B - Complete all running workouts C - Complete 2 runs/week (including long run) + cross training D - Complete 2 runs/week E - Miss long runs two or more times F - Bail on all running 3. 5 servings of vegetables everyday. A - 5 servings/day B - Miss 1 day/week C - Miss 2 days/week D - Miss 3 days/week E - Miss 4 days/week F - Miss 5 days/week Life Quest Try again to start a toddler bookclub and meet other moms in my part of town. Motivation I want to have some sweet muscles when summer rolls around to buy my first new bathing suit in 7 years! Also I might be able to start rock climbing again this summer so some extra strength would make getting back to climbing a lot easier.
