  1. Hi, I've read the sticky post in the programming forum, so I'll do my best to stick to that. Basically, I've never really bothered with the gym, because if I'm honest, I don't have a clue what I'm doing, or what I should be doing. I've done gymnastics for the majority of my life, I started when I was about 3 and stopped when I was 21, so I think I have a foundation to work on. Exercise Preference Probably using weights over bodyweight, just because I have the facilities there, but I'm hoping that people might be able to help with this. Current Stats Gender: Male Age: 27 Height: 173cm / 5ft 8 Weight: 72.5kg / 160lbs Previous Training History Gymnastics like I said, a lot of it was vaulting type stuff. I also play Ice Hockey. Current Training My first attempt at following some sort of program is 5x5 stronglifts. I've been following the program for about 5 weeks, but I don't think I've been lifting enough weight. A friend of mine helped me in the gym yesterday to get to my Squat 1RM. I hit 122.5kg / 270lbs I train with my Ice Hockey team once a week on a monday night and usually play a game on a saturday. Current Diet I dont think my diet is terrible, but it not great either. for example, yesterday I ate; fruit and fibre type cereal for breakfast at about 7, an apple at 10, then a tin of tuna and some salad for lunch at 12.15, a banana at 3 and for dinner I had a chicken breast and veg. Current Resources/Limitations I'm in the forces, so we have a good gym on base, with a squat rack, some kettlebells, benches an olympic lifting pad and a few machines that I try my best to stay away from. I work 8 til 5 and then drive home, and really the only time I can train is an hour a day. I'm trying to develop functional stregth that will benefit me playing hockey and in general. I'd like to put on a bit of muscle but really tone up and get a bit more definition. Thanks, Chris
  2. Hi! I'm new here so I thought I'd say hello! This seems like a great forum and I can't wait to start getting involved! A bit about me... I'm Chris, I'm 27, from the UK (This is starting to look like a dating ad!) I serve in the Royal Air Force so I'm quite active, but not as much as I'd like to be. I have a little girl called Evelyn, she's 2 and my life pretty much revolves around her now! What I do... I play ice hockey, just at Rec level, nothing serious, I train once a week and play a game most weekends. I regularly ride my bike the 15 miles to work and back, usually twice a week. I try and get to the gym as much as possible when I'm at work, but this is where the problems start, I really don't know what I should be doing in the gym! There are so many different programs out there for different things and promising results in the shortest period of time. My diet is reasonable, it's not fantastic, but it's not bad either. At the end of this week I'm going to start a paleo diet for a month and see how I get on. Hopefully this will help. The gym at the moment... My training usually revolves around deadlift and squats. Mostly because I want to build core strength and power for hockey and my work as a whole. I do a bit of bench press and some incline dumbbell press. And I usually finish off with some interval training on the treadder doing 1 minute at 8km/h, and a minute of 16/17km/h for 15 minutes. My goals... Like I say, I want to build usable power and strength that will benefit me in hockey and my life in general. I'd like to get more toned and better fitness level. In summary... I need help! I don't know what I should be doing to reach my goals! Thanks for reading, I can't wait to get started! I'll get some photos uploaded before I start my new diet and training program that I will hopefully get some help with from you guys! I'll then upload phots at intervals so that I can see how I'm doing. Thanks, Chris
