  1. Hah! I was definitely experiencing this. In other news I DID make it to yoga today! And have been working on the last bits of packing for our move over the weekend.
  2. She's wonderful <3 I also like her work a lot.
  3. Probably a little too late but I love my Mirena (hormone) IUD - has not had any impact on my weight gain or loss. I see a lot of patients who like both Mirena and Paragard (copper) - and most of the complaints with them have to do with spotting or excess bleeding during menstruation (respectively). No weight gain issues like with the pill. Wishing you the best with whichever you choose
  4. Welcome back to the grind and kudos on you doing such a good job keeping up with exercise! That's honestly the most important health factor even if the weight is a bummer. I don't know if this works for you but chewing gum to keep your mouth busy might be a possibility in the meantime when you wanna have little snacks. Also if you have any hobbies you can kind of do on the sly like write or plot DnD games or doodle and keep a small notebook handy I find myself able to pass time if I am stuck in a slow monotonous situation and need help even just staying awake.
  5. In other self-care news I have been doing a lot more art recently which has been really great <3 Attached is a picture I did of my aasimar cleric from a DnD5e game I am in
  6. UPDATES: Still doin' pretty poorly on meeting all of the goals. Might drop the NF one and focus on doing yoga more consistently. Doing well: hydration, meditation Doing okay: diet, yoga Not doing... : NF workout
  7. Sadly I actually was doing *better* about going to classes before the challenge started! I'm going to attend one tonight and one tomorrow to make up for not making it last week I'll check and find you!
  8. Fellow PNW person here - wishing you the best motivation and confidence going forward!!
  9. Completed my morning meditation, and trying SO HARD to get that water goal met. Bah!
  10. OKAY I have been bad about not updating y'all buuuut here is what I have to report: Goal Meeting: DIET: I've been drinking maybe 1 full glass of water when I am supposed to? It's silly this is so challenging for me, but I really just am not someone who stays well hydrated. Need to focus on this one! Diet has also been iffy but I have been eating a bit more veggies. FITNESS: I havent even done 1 NF workout... ack. Might need to re-adjust my own expectations. I have plans to attend yoga tomorrow though. MINDFULNESS: Meditation: I've been using Insight Timer pretty consistently to aid in meditating. I find a lot of their guided meditations are really helpful and I especially recommend Sarah Blondin. Super nice and heart-warming and makes you examine yourself in some good and positive ways. I've even had my furry friend assist in my meditation ONWARD!
  11. Too true! Also excited to learn some good recipes stalking your posts
  12. Woo Yeah - may require me to make sure I dont just sit in a puddle during lunch hour
  13. ======== She rolled out of bed, head pounding, the light from the window giving her reason to flatten her ears against her scalp in irritation. The day was young and there was much to do and she wanted nothing more than to curl up in a ball in the dark, tuck her tail and continue her rest. But this was not to be, and she pulled herself from the safe, security of the blankets and pulled herself to fill her palms with fresh water splashing it on her face and drinking a few laps. The reflecting pool showed the dark circles and the tired expression. Yes... it is time for this one to change. ========== Hello everyone - I'm a recent convert to "druid" class after a bit of a hiatus for a few years. I am a recent medical school graduate and a stress-monkey so I am trying to address both physical health and mental health in a lot of ways, and hope I can build a sustainable way of being for myself that is rather challenging in the world of a resident physician. I'm also an Elder Scrolls nut and DnD fan <3 CHALLENGE Diet (pick two) Drink 1 bottle/glass of water in the AM and PM Eat one full, prepared and cooked meal with protein and vegetables per day Fitness (pick one) Complete the NF bodyweight workout at least 3x a week Go to a yoga class x1 a week minimum Level Up Your Life 5 minutes meditation daily Go on a walk OUTSIDE 3x a week CHECKLIST of thing for the upcoming month: * Find yoga studio until moving ACHIEVED * PACK ALL THE THINGS * MOVING DAY * Find yoga studio in new town * Diet plan with husband
  14. oof sounds like you've had a recent spat of misfortune - I hope you recover well from all of these trials and your surgery goes smoothly!
  15. The advice is 100% valid - 19 hr shifts are nothing to sniff at. Those are all applicable to me and I appreciate the insight
  16. Yay ES LOVE! I'm all over ESO right now - let me know if you play ALSO big achievement for me, def level up of Intelligence (ish) = GRADUATED MEDICAL SCHOOL
  17. @ Elice - it's difficult to work-life balance in a world of 24 hr shifts and weekend call but so so true the mental health aspects are completely essential to any shot at overall well-being. Good luck on the grad- school train yourself! None of it is a cake-walk.
  18. You're so right, mental health is such an important part of overall health and well being - good on your finding yourself the resources to get here now! I'll be cheering you on as I also re-enter the game.
  19. Managed to get myself out of bed and to a yoga class this morning. Feeling a lot better now than when my day started <3
  20. Hi all - I spent some time here really loving the resources and community back in 2014-2016 but had a lot of busy times and some personal stuff that made me pretty much revert back to level 1 in terms of exercise and diet. I feel pretty weak which is frustrating, but it s hows how important continuing to practice. In the meantime maybe I have a higher intelligence score because I am just finishing medical school and about to start residency! A lot of important self-care goals are what I want to be focusing on, so I am swapping from my old Ranger class to Druid for the time being since I think that is more in-line with what my needs are right now. Would love to hear from folks who are involved in really insane professional job settings because that seems to be my struggle for sure. Will also go around and see other folks here so we can support one another
  21. Heh I mention Junkie XL since that's the guy that made the mad max music in the new film
  22. Gonna hop on this wagon, albeit a little late Sounds like you're doing great so far! If you have a buddy to help you, this technique set is what we learn in school to help with shoulder mobility problems: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGBJm_1bBmg As far as travel... you aren't going to Portland are you? I ask because.. well, Voodoo doughnuts. I understand >.>
  23. Love the theme you've got here. Definitely use some of Junkie XL's music for gym motivation - it's just so BEAST. Hope you're feeling better!
