  1. Keep it up Hazard!!! Btw I just saw the HTTYD Movie sequel - it was pretty good. Pretty visuals if nothing else :> Made me want to do more parkour-y things even. (And Kit Harington from Game of Thrones even voices a character!)
  2. Ok well I just added Kip-ups to my wishlist for when I start doing more parkour style moves. That is awesome. Thanks for posting!
  3. I only somewhat recently started ... I will warn you it is pretty addicting. Elder Scrolls is awesome though Highly recommend!
  4. Yeah seriously - I think it may have something to do with children being tiny and having a different center of gravity. I remember being able to do back-bridges and cartwheels better too! And GO HAZARD
  5. 6/11 2 Sets of the BBWW - substituted 5 assisted pull-ups for where the 10 rows; also did 30 second planks 1 min each side Eagle pose. My calves are burning x.o I have a huge pile of "give away" stuff now - went through all of my clothes in the last few days and my books. Still have some other stuff to go through though. Also did a lot of house cleaning today but I won't count that toward anything.. just something needing to be done. Ooooww my caaaalves....!!!
  6. 6/10 - Yoga and chin ups (5)! Did a few balance poses - Awkward Chair, Eagle, Tree, and Warrior III. I tried to hold each for 1 minute on each side, but Warrior III wasn't working out (45 s and 30 s - left leg is weak!) At least I had a buddy to warm up with yoga :>
  7. Thanks! Crap: Giving away all of the stuff I don't use anymore or won't need when I move to school. Books, old clothes, bits and bobbles, whatever it is that is taking space and not something I need and use regularly or something I definitely will need.
  8. Hi!! Fellow assassin initiate myself as well! Hope your challenge is off to a great start so far. I'll be doing a lot of bodyweight work as well and hope I can do a little climbing, time-permitting. I'll try to check in with ya. I know it helped me stay on track more last challenge when people came by to say hi to me
  9. Woohoo! Enjoy your birthday Hope you first day of the challenge has gone off swimmingly. Duolingo is great! I have used it to catch up on French language and practice Spanish. I also did a little German but I'm much better with Latin languages...
  10. Hi fellow initiate!! Those push up and plank goals look pretty crazy - but I bet you're up for it! Hope your first day of the challenge is off to a great start! I found that I used planks in the circuit and ended up doing cumulatively more seconds of plank (I think 1:30 was the highest I got but it was broken up into intervals for each set of a circuit I did). If you find your current goal not working out I can recommend this method! Also I loved Pacific Rim - if you don't already I highly recommend the soundtrack as training background music. it's fun to lift/do push ups imagining you're gearing up for a Kaiju fight!!
  11. ALL THE DRAGONS I do admit I have a soft spot for Toothless. Mostly because he is so...cat-like. Hazard - I hope your first day of the challenge is going well! Looks like a good start already!
  12. Hope your challenge is off to a great start! I will be back (also because I love kitten gifs).
  13. First day woooo!!! 6/9 - 3 sets of the Assassin's creed bodyweight routine, 5 assisted pull-ups (with chair) Hope everyone is having a great kick off
  14. Haha thanks. I think I'll stick with my Skyrim theme as much as I can
  15. I haven't entirely decided yet - I have a few mini sets that I found but I need to ask a few of my real life yogi friends (one is an instructor!) what they recommend or check out some more online resources.
  16. First, thank you to those who came to my thread in my first challenge! I thought you guys were very supportive and it helped me to keep going! We Know... I am excited to try to push my comfort zone a little bit - most of my life I thought running was my jam, but I forgot about all of the tree-climbing and scrambling over big rocks I used to do as a little kid - and the hurdles in track and the rolls in jiu-jitsu. I am excited and ready to have fun while keeping toned. This round I think it'll be difficult for me since I am moving halfway through the challenge, and will be starting medical school right at the tail-end of it. It looks like a lot of my future classmates are into outdoor activities though so hopefully this will also be a way for me to make new friends. Anywho.. here is my newest challenge: Main Challenge #1 - Maintain and Increase Strength (+2 STR) Complete Body Weight training exercises minimum 2 times per week (aim for 3)Use either the Basic Bodyweight Circuit (modified with chin ups/reverse pull-ups) OR the Assassin's Creed workoutMain Challenge #2 - Improve Balance, Flexibility and Mental Clarity (+2 DEX, +1 WIS) Do a yoga routine at least 2 times per week (minimum 20 minutes) Emphasis on poses to improve balanceLife Challenge (+1 WIS) Try to eliminate as much crap as possible before moving on June 27th! SIMPLIFYSide Quests: Try new things (ie. rock climbing/bouldering) (+1 CHA)Alphabet vegetable challenge! (PVP) (+2 CON)Keep up cardio (running or biking 20+ minutes) 1-2 times per week (+1 STA)
  17. Hi All! After feeling very supported by the Assassin ambassadors during my level 1 challenge and learning a bit more about what this group is all about I decided I want to see if I can add myself to the ranks and hopefully become more of a badass in the process. After watching some of the basic rolls and vaults I'm reminded of the rolls I learned in martial arts and doing hurdles in track and field - I'm not as unpracticed as I had previously thought! Is there a word for someone who does parkour on trees/rocks/etc? Because that sounds like exactly my type of thing. Looking forward to getting to know you all better!
  18. Planning to check out one of the rock-climbing gyms in SF Friday :D

  19. UPDATE: I ended up adding my exercises to the Challenge log so for those from April-May 25th look there! Will update here again for what we've missed since I ended the challenge... 5/26: ~2 mile run, took it easy (cheated on my diet a bit at a BBQ and mexican food) 5/27: Mini yoga routine (~10 min) before bed. 5/28: 7 min warm-up on spinning bike, 3 sets of the BBWW (substituting bicep curls for lateral rows - 30 lbs on the lunges, 15 on the bicep curls)
  20. I'm gonna have to try this for next month - I've already been making a list. This looks like a great way to force yourself to learn new recipes
  21. Still working on that pull-up - but in the meantime I need to figure out a future challenge goal...

    1. Barfly

      Barfly

      Um... Challenge goal = doing a pull-up? ;)

Haha - well I am close enough I think I want to expand my horizons a little bit. It's definitely still on my roster!

  22. Thanks for the words of encouragement and for the motivation as I've been working through my first challenge! Since I start medical school in July, and will be moving in that time, I think I may look for a way to incorporate more life balance activities while trying to maintain strength training. Not sure exactly which profession suits me best just yet! I appreciate all of the support I received from the people in the Assassins guild
  23. Summary post-challenge: (Edit: needed to do A-F grading..whoops!) Quest: Be able to do one pull-up, unassisted. (+3 STR) * Standard Pull-up: Fail (~30 lbs to go) * Chin up: A! Can do 2 in a row, 4 in 1 day (+1) * Parallel Pull-up: A! Can do 1 (+1) I'm going to give myself 2/3 for this round on here Mission: - Do appropriate back and arm exercises every other day (Bent Over Dumbell Rows then Body Weight Rows) - Yes! (B since I did 3 days/week, not every other day) - Basic Body Weight Circuit every other day - B did x3 a week! - Eat more protein (from fish and meat) (+1 CON) - I ended up going 85% paleo part way through my challenge - will give myself 2 points for this! A Side Quest: - Do small yoga routine each night before bed (5-15 min) (+1 WIS) * C - I did yoga a lot less frequently than I had planned previously, so I don't know if I deserve the point for this. I think my next goal will be related to life-balance, so it may involve more yoga/tai-chi there. Also since I did a lot more cardio than I had originally set out, and I failed to get other points, I think +1 Stamina may be where I allocate my final point.
  24. 5/24: 20 minutes stationary bike, 3 sets BBWW (minus dumbbell rows), 5 reverse pull-ups Since I think I won't get a chance to do a pull up by tomorrow I tested myself on the weight machines - I can do around 104 lbs of a pull-up! Which is around ~30 lbs away from my body weight. Hopefully in the next month or so I can reach that if I keep working. Meanwhile I gotta think of the new challenge...
