  1. Bearlee, defender of snakes and other defenseless creatures! Sounds like your new superhero uniform (workout clothes) is working splendidly for you. I second the motion for pictures! This post managed to escape being eaten by Tapatalk.
  2. Ugh, Tapatalk wouldn't let me on yesterday. But, Monday was good, but cold. Fall suddenly decided to come to Flagstaff, which means it's easier to walk outside because I don't get overheated. So, walking! Not exactly assassin-y, but it is moving. I've managed my dead hangs this week, still have to do pushups and planks and squats. I've always had trouble at the beginning of the week with this stuff, so I'm not surprised. Next week will be vacation, so you'll see me try to fit stuff in at my parents house. Not that hard, since I don't need a gym. Bearlee - Tapatalk is misbehaving, so I'll have to get to a real computer to see the video. My phone is driving me nuts (Windows 8 for the (not) win). 3. Me neither. When/if I ever grow up, I hope I remember that.
  4. Music teacher and a firefighter? That's just too much awesome to put into one person! And I'm with Jakkals, play time with kitties is one of the most important things to remember. This post managed to escape being eaten by Tapatalk.
  5. The open university sounds like an awesome thing, and I encourage you to go. Don't worry about life and work getting in the way of fitness. It happens. A lot. You know you are winning when you keep finding ways to go back to it. Good work so far. Keep it up! This post managed to escape being eaten by Tapatalk.
  6. How are you doing so far? This post managed to escape being eaten by Tapatalk.
  7. That's what I thought. :/ I think I could work the walking in more often -- that was a lot of fun walking on the urban trail.
  8. So Thursday morning started off great. I got to work an hour before I had to punch in -- as usual because of the bus schedule. I chatted with coworkers a little and then went for a nice brisk walk around the grocery store next door -- about a half hour. When I came back, the work crew had arrived to finish off my store's update. We were all ready for them to be done, for sure. So they broke out the paint and the scaffolding and generally got in our way I was fine for the first couple of hours, but then I got dizzy and nauseous from the paint fumes. When I went outside for fresh air, the coughing started. And didn't stop until about an hour after the painters left. It was miserable, and I didn't get any bodyweight exercises in because I figured that not being able to breathe would make them too difficult. :/ Friday was better -- my day off. I had plans to meet my roommate at noon (she had to work a half day) so I got out the door and walked to the bus stop. Just in time to see it leave moments before I got there. (Oh, maannnnn So I thought to myself that I could wait for the next bus and get there in 45 minutes. Or, I could walk and get there in about... 45 minutes. So I walked, of course. It was beautiful weather and there was a steady breeze. And I found my way onto Flagstaff's urban trail system -- which is AWESOME , by the way. I was a little off on my time estimate, as I got to where I was going at precisely one hour. But I beat the bus there by like, 5-10 minutes. And, I got a really nice, long walk in. And I saved $1.25 bus fare. So, win! Here's the summaries: Thursday: Exercise: 30 minute walk. No bodyweight exercises (felt too miserable) Sugar: No. 31 days: Still on day 2 Friday: Exercise: Hour long brisk walk (instead of taking the bus) Sugar: ummmm yes. No excuses, but it was just a handful of toffee peanuts. 31 days: *hangs head* Nothing Friday either. This post managed to escape being eaten by Tapatalk.
  9. *sneaking in late* Great goals! Welcome to the assassins. This post managed to escape being eaten by Tapatalk.
  10. Mmmm. Crisp/crumble sounds delicious. I think that would be called an apple cobbler in my house. This post managed to escape being eaten by Tapatalk.
  11. Oh, it is tasty. It's not actually honeycomb, but a crunchy honey candy (sometimes described as sea foam candy) dipped in chocolate. I usually only see it in specialty candy shops. http://candyaddict.com/blog/candy_images/honeycomb.jpg This post managed to escape being eaten by Tapatalk.
  12. Down with Explorer! Firefox ftw. This post managed to escape being eaten by Tapatalk.
  13. Today was mostly okay, though I did end up eating sugar in the form of milk chocolate covered "honeycomb". My roommate offered me a piece and I couldn't (alright, didn't) say no. It was very good and I am almost not sorry. Other than that, today was fairly uneventful. Only managed a small portion of my body weight routine, but I still have time to catch up, so I'm not too worried about it. The scale this morning shows that it has barely budged. I am not ready to actually start counting my calories again, so I may have to deal with the consequence of not losing as much as I'd like. I'm (mostly) okay with that as long as I don't gain any weight. Wednesday summary: Exercise: Went for a 30 minute walk this morning. Also managed 3 more ten second dead hangs on my favorite stockroom shelf. Sugar: Yes. 31 days: In progress. Working on day 2 -- goals. Going to have a good rest of my week. See you tomorrow!
  14. Agreed. He was a jerk, and I am glad you decided to leave rather than find out exactly how horrible of a person he could be a few months from now. Good for you for walking out and not just sitting there and taking his abuse. This post managed to escape being eaten by Tapatalk.
  15. Breathe. It's okay. I understand completely. A few years ago, I had a couple of concussions, 8 months apart, and I ended up having to step down from my management position and stop working overnights. My free time suddenly vanished and my self-esteem along with it. But nothing, NOTHING bad has ever happened to me that didn't make room for something better to come along in my life. Don't worry about the stress eating. Take a deep breath and try to do better next time. And don't lose faith in yourself. Try to look for the hidden opportunity life is trying to give you along with all the crap. As for Windows 8, I have it on my phone, but I can imagine how irritating it is on an actual computer. You do get used to it. Eventually. :/ Hang in there. This post managed to escape being eaten by Tapatalk.
  16. Ugh. I hate it when drama in life keeps me up at night. I definitely feel your pain. Sometimes you can convince your brain to deal with it later (like, waking hours) and sometimes not. :/ As for the food pics, super yum! Makes me want to go out and get some arugula. 18. Week Two!!! No sugar so far. Yay!! As for everything else... mmmm, well, tomorrow is another day, right? I know, I know. I'll get on it tomorrow morning. I need to get onto day two of the 31 days as well. I'll try to do that tonight, so I can get back on track.
  19. Yay for an awesome reward! As for whether or not the muscles come with the shirt, I'll just leave this here: http://youtu.be/Nd6VIgWlPv4
  20. Okay, Week One summary: It was a short week because I came in late. That being said, I think it went fairly well. I hit a rough patch on Saturday, but things happen and I found out (once again) how awesome and encouraging everyone is here on NF. You guys rock!! Anyway, Sunday was a rest day, so here are my Week 1 stats: Exercise: Walking x 2 days. Strength x 1.5 days Sugar = No 31 Days x 1 day Ready to start my first full week of the challenge. This week is going to be great! (I'm on my phone, otherwise I'd find a nice SpongeBob gif to put here) This post managed to escape being eaten by Tapatalk.
  21. 79 pounds down. 863 miles walked. THIS is the awesomeness that is Nerd Fitness!!! Like I said before, 299 is calling your name. You can do it, and I plan to be there to cheer you on. This post managed to escape being eaten by Tapatalk.
