  1. Not well. The next 4-week challenge will look a lot like this one... Nutrition: +15 - Avoid all liquid calories (soda, sweet tea, gatorade). I did a side-challenge with some Men's Academy guys, so I've pretty much conquered the soda. But just thinking about cutting sweet tea hurts (I'm from Texas) Still doing good on this. +35 - Drink 2 liters of water every day. I'm hitting the target about half of the time...it's really difficult. I guess that's why they call it a challenge. Workout: +30: Go to the gym 3 times per week. I put this here to help develop a schedule for going to the new gym I just joined. By the end of the challenge, I'll know what days/times work best. Still not good. I've only gone a few times. See next quest... General Health: +20 Be in bed with the lights out by 10:30pm on work nights. I have a nasty habit of staying up far too late when it's completely avoidable. I'm doing really well on this, especially the last week. But really it's not been by choice. I've been really tired, so 9:00 hasn't been uncommon. It's hurt gym time. Bonus Quests: +25 Avoid all social media (including Nerd Fitness forum & Nerd Fitness Facebook groups) on Tuesdays for 2 months. Technically I've already started that one. Tomorrow will be week 4. Perfect. This quest will be complete next Tuesday. +2 Read Steve's book Still haven't started it.
  2. My friends and I were there for 3 hockey games. We did brewery tours (fantastic beers up there), took a gondola up to the top of one of the mountains, went to a bar where a horse literally walked in the door, and drove around. It actually wasn't that bad...there wasn't even any snow on the streets. It was colder in Texas at the time.
  3. I thought I'd post an update now that we're at the halfway point. Week 2 was especially difficult because I was on vacation in Alaska for 6 days. Nutrition: +15 - Avoid all liquid calories (soda, sweet tea, gatorade). I did a side-challenge with some Men's Academy guys, so I've pretty much conquered the soda. But just thinking about cutting sweet tea hurts (I'm from Texas) I'm right on target here. I had a jack & coke on the plane yesterday to settle the nerves of flying, but I don't consider that a failure. I haven't had any sodas/tea with a meal or snack or anything. +35 - Drink 2 liters of water every day. This is a lot harder than I thought it would be. I only got about half of the first week and not at all while I was on vacation. I'm going to have to be perfect for the rest of the challenge if I want any of those points. Workout: +30: Go to the gym 3 times per week. I put this here to help develop a schedule for going to the new gym I just joined. By the end of the challenge, I'll know what days/times work best. Probably the most important one, and I'm doing horribly. I only went to the gym 1 day the first week, and I was on vacation the 2nd week. Yuck. General Health: +20 Be in bed with the lights out by 10:30pm on work nights. I have a nasty habit of staying up far too late when it's completely avoidable. I've only missed twice so far, and one was because I was stuck working until nearly 3:00am. But that's only 1 week. I was on vacation for the other week, so we'll see how it goes going forward. Bonus Quests: +25 Avoid all social media (including Nerd Fitness forum & Nerd Fitness Facebook groups) on Tuesdays for 2 months. Technically I've already started that one. Tomorrow will be week 4. Still on target. I did use Facebook messenger last Tuesday, but that was purely for planning logistics and meeting up with my friends on vacation. We had to keep in contact somehow. I don't consider this a violation of social media. It's practically texting. +2 Read Steve's book Still haven't started it.
  4. Thanks!! Yeah, I've got 2 main problems: "Just one more episode of _____". Taking my laptop to bed.I need to see if my TV has a scheduler where I can make it automatically turn off at a certain time.
  5. It's been a long time since I've done a 6 week challenge. I kinda like that they're only 4 weeks now. I'm assigning each quest a point value so that the total is 100 points. This way, a successful challenge will level up my character if when I complete all my quests. Nutrition: +15 - Avoid all liquid calories (soda, sweet tea, gatorade). I did a side-challenge with some Men's Academy guys, so I've pretty much conquered the soda. But just thinking about cutting sweet tea hurts (I'm from Texas) +35 - Drink 2 liters of water every day. 6. I haven't gone through all 6 pages, so I'm not sure if it's been posted, but there's a Facebook group for DFW Nerds now: https://www.facebook.com/groups/179018089112151/
  7. I'm in downtown Plano - 15th and Ave K, right at the DART station
  8. I joined last year and did a couple of 6 week challenges, but didn't really get involved. Now that I've met some nerds in person (Camp Nerd Fitness 2015 FTW!), I should probably start spending some time here. Now I just need to associate some aliases with your real names! I specified Travis B since there's already a Travis D (and probably more) If you were at camp and you see this, please speak up so I know who you are!
  9. Where do you live ine Boston area? I have 2 friends that live in JP
  10. I prefer silicone-based lubes over water-based. You can't beat Gun Oil
  11. That is Earth's address indeed (Teal'c pun intended)
  12. OMG Nedwin, your back is gorgeous (I must admit I don't understand the first one, though )
  13. This is actually 2 tattoos. The first was incorporated into it. Can you guess what was already there and what was added? This is so I'll never lose my way (in a very nerdy way) This is a tribute to a childhood memory with my mom. I just got it a few weeks ago - I'm showing it to her tomorrow
  14. Yeah, I heard that on NPR today. Homosexuality was illegal until 1993, and now it's legal to marry. Awesome.
  15. Week 2 Summary: Goal 1) I thought I was close to that pull-up, but progress remains the same. Keeping at it. Goal 2) Only read 3 more chapters. I need to step it up. Goal 3) Overall average is up slightly to 7:30.
