  1. Week 5 is ended!

    Lets look at how I did:

    Training goal: 22 / 22,5 -> this means B so far ( all of them with the push through attitude!)

    Food goal : 25/35 -> this means an A so far! I am on track!

    Mediation: did that 15+ / 15 -> A

    Head rush: 11/15 -> a couple of cold showers, but also a couple of time when I spoke up for myself.

    Weigh in:  81,7 kg!! (5/5 -> A)

    I did not finish this week on a high note mentally though and I don't really know why. I kinda ate more than I should, but not by much. I still hold to my food schedule. But I got struck with the strange case of simultaneously feeling

    A) I have this in the bag, I don not need to concentrate anymore(and somehow magically, anything I eat is OK)

    B) I know nothing at all about this, I will never be fit, why bother.

    I cant really understand those conflicting emotions. I can relate part of it to the "post dragon syndrome" and some of it to my back issues(bad posture and a kink in my spine that kinda hurts from time to time). But I don't know. I know the solution though! To wash away feelings off not being good, just be good. A kick ass week to get me back on track, that is exactly what the doctor orders.

    So that's how I tackle week 6, I go in guns first, ready to kick it! =)

  2. I would google "Strong Lifts" or "Starting Strength". The point off both off these being to build strength for the whole body using  3 compound exercises per workout.

    Workouts will take roughly(based on my own experience) 30 minutes when starting out and the tend to stretch out a bit as the need to rest between sets increases due to the weights increasing.

    The website for Strong Lifts says that workouts take 45 minutes or less.

    http://stronglifts.com/5x5/

    That link is a good description off the program. =)

    I would also recommend the warriors guild for all kinds off awesome information and good pointers for all exercises

  3. I hear you Chris, it is a slippery slope indeed. And it is so easy to fall back into old habits.

    But dont think that my "all positive" post was meant to bellitle the danger or to dimminsh the need for action by implying that a bad week is nothing.

    I just know that you got this! And that bouncing back with style like you are doing now is the preferred way for gents such as us! =)

    And again, with the right attitude and minndset a bad week is actually nothing at all im the long run!

  4. What is a week in a life?

    A week on sugar, that's manageable, that's not going to slow someone like you, you got this big time. Just look at what you just did man!

    "I've messed up guys" lead to: "this is my take control action" instead off: "these actions took my control". You saw, you understood and you came up with a game plan. In my book, that is the definition off process oriented progress.

    Just reboot, you kicked the habits once, just do it again. In my experience treats often leads to more treats and that is perfectly fine, give yourself a few days, then jump back on track. As I said to, you mind set in this is quite impressive and I believe that you will bounce back unharmed by the sugar traps!

    You are the man, man!

  5. Tuesday night and my first official night of strong lifts. I already cheated. I warmed up with dips =) 3 x 3 followed by one max attempt which turned into a PR to put on my wall! 15 in one set!

    And one thing hit me as I was meditating/reflecting: I am not going with the adventurers for my second challenge. After understanding what lead me to the idea/decision to go adventurers for challenge two as well, and slaying the beast called confidence as a level 2 adventurer, I realized that it is the exact opposite of what I need.

    What I came to understand is that it was the regular non-confident me talking, saying that before proclaiming what I want and which path I want to walk I first had to become "good enough". And that before actually claiming to be a warrior or an assassin I needed to prove my worth somehow. Well, the only one I need to convince about me being anything is me.

    What I am saying is that I have decided to pick up the fight as a warrior come the next challenge and that it is in that guise that I will straighten my back and kick my confidence issues in the chins to bring them down once and for all. It is a vile trick that confidence plays when it lures you into waiting for the good life while trying to "earn the right" to get good things for yourself.

    This challenge still has some hurdles for me to pass, but I got momentum now, and I got the scent of my pray. The hunted has indeed become the hunted and Confidence should tremble in which ever hole it is hiding its vile face!

    And finally a post-question. How do you post something as a spoiler? as in a box where the reader actively chooses to watch the material by clicking a button?

  6. @Chris the former sheep: Thanks man, and right back at ya!

    @Hazard: Exactly what I needed to hear and a mirror on my thoughts on switching to SL and dropping the weights. In it for life, and in it for gains in 6 weeks, 6 months and 6 years! It is very encouraging to get affirmation from someone who has walked the road before you!

    @The Swedish ninja: Those two groups sounds like a great Idea! I am thinking a long those exact lines! We should fight something together AND we should do some "friendly sparring" as well. I believe that those two groups should include a group of some of all the awesome rebels that will now clear the lvl1 stage. Regardless of in which guild we all end up for our second challenge. We should give this some more thought and design both a accountability group and a PvP that suits all our needs. Where is the best place for such discussion? should we maybe start the threads and decide their purpose in there, or should we discuss it somewhere else?

    Now, it is time to kick Monday nr 5 on the chins and bring this week down, work followed by the climbing gym. Here I go!

  7. Read about your strategy for assisted pull ups and I understand it as aiming for 3 x 10 and then lowering assistance? I tried the exact same thin whilst adding weights and after a while found a slightly varied approach to be more effective. Instead off going 3 x 10 and the set one resistance for all of them I upped the resistance for any set that went to 10 reps. In your case that would mean lowering assistance for set 10 right now, and lowering for the other ones as soon as they reached 10. (number one might need less assistance before any of the others are ready, but that is part of the idea).

    This might or might not be worth a try, =)

    You continue to be a great source of inspiration, sticking to your goals and making sure to fit them in to your everyday routine! great work! I am very psyched for that seer sucer( I just cant stop ranting about the fact that we will be two awesome suit-reds at this summer!)

  8. End of week four is here, and I am still going strong!

    As for my usual weekly wrap up:

    Training goal: 17 / 18 -> this means B so far ( all of them with the push through attitude!)

    Food goal : 20/28 -> this means an A so far! I am on track!

    Mediation: did that 12+ / 12 -> A

    Head rush: 8/12 -> All I am doing is cold showers and small things like that...hmmm, now it is time to really kill this goal

    Weigh in:  81,7 kg!! (4/4 -> A)

    Looking at my status it seems as if it is time to look at the Swedish ninjas list again and see if I cant do some of the things he suggested for some head rush points. Apart from that I feel that I am really on track for this challenge!

    I have also done some(a lot) of thinking regarding my goals and motivations and I am becoming more and more of a warrior with every passing day. So much so in fact that I am now switching up the gym part off my workouts to 3 days a week and Strong Lifts 5x5 style. I am a bit concerned (this is crazy me talking) about dropping down in waits as I am entering this new plan. But I am rationalizing this with the following facts: 1) that I am doing and extra session each week. 2) I am de-loading and will be lifting sub max for roughly 6 weeks but I am bound to come back stronger. 3) resetting all exercises will give me time to work a lot on form and also to get used to the whole system of SL.

    As I see it I will go with SL and see where it takes me and when I will hit a ceiling, and I am very psyched. And if it turns out that I am entering way to light on all exercises then I will simply have more power when I am climbing and running for a couple of weeks.

    I will also try to hang around more on the forums this week. And read up on the progress that have been made by my fellow rebels(especially the lvl1s!)

  9. Cracks me up that you call me "Chris the Sheep"!  I love it, bro.  Great job on the deadlift PR.  Hoping to get there one day, but I still struggle with my form from time to time...

    Well I got to separate my Chrises somehow =) But I think that I should rather go with "Chris the former sheep" for you from now on =)

  10. Haha, to much time on your hand from taking a break seems like a very comfortable problem :P But no, I understand, you start to go batty at an alarming rate when you are forced to rest like that.

    What are the doctors orders on mobility exercises? Are you allowed foam rolling or stretching of that back? or maybe some ankle/hip mobility to improve other aspects of you training regime when you are allowed back? I guess visualization can be good also :P

    Or maybe, just maybe, it could be could to kick back a week and actually rest, but what do I know ;)

  11. Good to see you home and back on the track of the silent killer. Preparing for summer camp sure is nasty business but your are keeping at it with an attitude that is sure to impress the old grand masters!

    There are no failures in the life of a Ninja, there are great wins and good lessons. Nothing more, nothing less.

    You make sure to teach me slack lining when you have the skill down though, thats some skill you have set your eyes on!

    Keep on being awesome!

  12. Wednesday night, week 4, and I am hammering away!

    Yesterday was weigh-in day and I landed on a strong 81.7 kg, so almost 2 kgs up from last week, but I am not worried at all. Last week was weak and hungry since I really wanted that sub 80 at least once :P This week was strong and kick ass!

    Today was finally lower body day at the gym, finally a chance to stick yet another dead-lift-crusher-medal on my chest. I loaded the bar to a new PR at 155 kgs after some warm ups at 70, 120 and 130. I CRUSHED IT! It actually felt so good that I wanted to go for more, so I did. Loaded and lifted a whooping 160 kgs! 5 kgs from my long term goal! I loaded that as well, but I was out of gas and it did not move an inch :P I guess I am saving it for next time.

    After the gym I ate a salad and then got challenged by a friend in a "who can do fifty pull up with chin over bar(regardless of form) in the least amount of sets" competition. I ended up finishing in 6 sets (10 10 10 10 9 1). So that also felt good!

    I have given some thought about Chris the sheeps question regarding where I am headed after my two first challenges in level one and adventurers. I first though Assassins since climbing, running and body-weight exercises are high on my list. But now I am more and more realizing that I am a warrior at heart. Lifting heavy stuff, putting them down, write down what you did and beat it next week, that's LIFE right there!

    Until I see you again!

  13. Woot for you and your husband!

    Same as swedish ninja I also ran the tough viking race in sweden last year. One of my friends blacked out for a second in the electric wire obstacle which meant his face had a pretty rough date with the muddy ground. He did not need saving though, but neither me nor him knows how he got up and kept running =)

    Again, great work!

  14. I'm so jealous, what make is she?  And how long?

    She is a Leisure 23, 23 feet long. And sleeps 3 comfortably and five if you don't mind cuddling a bit =)

    Here she is just before she was put in the water( I will try to get som pictures when the mast is mounted):
