  1. Last update... The last orc has fallen, the last day of the fighter's codex completed. The Bruce Lee tribute was rough but could have been much harder. it's been a crazy 30 days, crazy and trans-formative. I seriously did not thing I would get as far as I did and not in my wildest dreams did I believe I could throw 3,000 consecutive punches. Nor did I think i would be able to get my body fat % down even further than before. This sets a high bar for me, at the big event I was asked how old I was and after I replied they said I looked like a well aged 25 yo. I've inspired people to pick up and challenge themselves after seeing the results in person. Hell I feel like I am 25 again. So what about the next challenge and the challenge after that? This has been nagging me since the last challenge. Raising kids doesn't leave a whole lot of time or money to set the goals I want to go for (travel etc,) so finding new challenges has been..well challenging. So now that I have hit this point it's start the next few levels on hard mode, the challenge I have setup is pretty brütal being codenamed "Nerd Rumble 2015," at this point with this work out either I will sore to higher heights or crash and burn, there's not a lot of middle ground involved. Rotengar the ranger will be trained by heroes and gods, he will never be the same again...
  2. Ranger check in; Holy Crazy holidays batman! I haven't had a whole lot of time to post since I am either getting my head down to workout or it's been crazy busy at work. So since most of the past few weeks have been nothing but a blur for me I will have to summrize. I have been keeping on with my Fighters Codex. I completed the 3,000 punch challange in 00:22:20 which makes me really happy since it's only slightly slower than the 2,000 punch challange. Took a break for the big Belegarth event but there were so many archers and pole arm fighters that suffice to say that I died a lot. I got hit in the eye with an arrow and a sword tip (that hurt,) but had fun none the less. The 3k workout was the next day cause I am that crazy. Two more workouts left and then the program is done. In other news its looking like we're going to be looking into getting a YMCA membership which I may be doing the How to Train like an assassin goals in the next challange or so. Swimming, pullups, ect Going to be brutal but worth it. On the downside I am pretty sure I bomed the coffee part of my challange, I lost track a while ago and really haven't been able to function without at least a cup of coffee in my hands lately. :\ Well always next time for that one.
  3. what what? Heads down to get through this. NO heads up...we will DESTROY our goals! you all can do this I believe in you!
  4. Post thanksgiving post! Day 17 - Practice and it was rough, I didn't finish on account that my 25lb daughter wanted to ride on daddy's back for 30 of the 60 pushups I did do. Day 18 - Balance easy day my fiance got to enjoy wanting me do the blind airplane impersonation. Day 19 - Practice again, blew through it with no problems tho I did the "hey that doesn't look too hard..." oops. Day 20 - Challenge #2; 2,000 punches by the end of the day. Did them consecutively again, all of them in ~20 minutes I had my fiance count so I could focus on punching. Did a mixture of strait punches, jabs, hooks and cross punches. Day - 21: ???? We will see how it goes. It seems simple enough but so far things that look easy or simple.
  5. Day 15 & 16 I needed a day off...my body was finally starting to feel the effects of working out everyday for 14 days strait. Poor sleep, not enough down time to fully repair, and the caffeine withdraws was making things rather unpleasant. Took the night off and had probably a pound of American home made tacos basically browned beef, covered in cyan pepper and cyan pepper flakes, sharp cheddar cheese. Then sat on my butt and played RIFT for a few hours. Tonight intend to double up my workouts for a two for 1 session. we'll see how that goes blegh...I need to warm up better...the siren call of coffee is far too strong these days. This would be easier if it wasn't cold out.
  6. Days 11 - 14 of 47 Day 11; Close contact fighting. Okay not my strong point having an armspan of 6ft or so doesn't make this an idea situation for me but I powered through it anyway. After Day 10's 1k punches my arms were a little sore but not really flagging much. Also not a good idea to do these kind of workout in boot cut jeans. Day 12; Streching. Finally an off day, got a nice streaching in at work and my splits are getting lower again, so there's progress there. Day 13; Practice; At this point it looks like Neila's up the ante on the workouts but hasn't slowed me down yet. Day 14; Chuck Norris Tribute; Suprisingly no roundhouse kicks. It was pretty exhausting having only doing two sets and started sweating pretty heavily. Despite the littlest one running between my legs while I was kicking (no she's fine I didn't make contact, but it did force me to change stance every few kicks or so.) All in all a good power workout. Cups of coffee consumed; 2 it's finally going down now I just have to keep at it and not cave everytime I feel tired.
  7. Just stopping in to wish everyone a happy Weekend!
  8. On the topic of working out, I will be working out pretty much everyday until Dec 21st...and then promptly gorging myself on pizza Dec 22nd LOL
  9. Wow I feel like a total goober I have a had the wrong tent pinned! Evidently the party was so good there I passed out there (again,) anyway I am super happy to hear all the good news and great efforts. Xena: Congradolances on becoming an ambassador! Now you're like official n stuff...mwhaha For the new people; Welcome! I hope you find the fire as warm and inspiring as I have. Then again I might be bias because Rangers has been my home guild since day one. Hope everyone's week one has gone well! Mines been a struggle against coffee, and while the body is strong the will is weak against this warm life mana of the gods...despite this challenge #1 (aka Chunga) has not only been beaten but obliterated my previous consecutive punches thrown personal record. Anyway back to kicking ass rangers!
  10. Ouch I hate it when life interferes with my workouts. Don't worry you'll get back into the swing of things in no time!
  11. Awesome I did middle eastern dance when I was more into historical reenactment, tho the male version. As far as the review, Haters gonna hate. I hope your challenge is going well keep at it! *goes back to beating on Orcs*
  12. Day 9 & 10 of 47 - Where in Rote meets Chunga the smelliest of Orcs. Day 9 - this day did not go well, it's pay weeks so naturally I am broke, I broke down and got a Pepsi and pizza from a gas station. I admit it was dumb but my need for caffeine over rided my logical thinking, and hoo boy did I regret that later. I came home to find out that the kids "broke the computer" but in reality jump started my graphics card up again, despite my soreness, exhaustion, general feelings of ick, and immense desire to get on and play on my comp for the first time in months I did my workout. I sweat more than a hog on a hot southern summer day. But I finished it, then I played games for two hours and passed out after giving my fiancé a massage (she had a really rough day with the kids.) Day 10 - Challange day 1, which gets a special character named Chunga. This Challange was to throw 1,000 punches over the course of a day. I did all 1,000 punches (strait with a few hooks in for fun,) in approximately 6 minutes. I barely believe it myself but I set a timer giving myself 30 minutes of my lunch to complete the task. I still have energy to spare, I feel I could go another 500 punches before cramping up. Before I started this routine my record was 82 punches. Suffice to say Chunga did not last long this battle.
  13. Well there's only one of me in action, mainly me fighting and then knocking over the camera (honestly it happened so fast I have no idea who hit it.) But it's only available via facebook. Boo. but here's some other videos that I was going to add anyway; https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10154753650475484&set=o.316984691690860&type=2&theater ^not sure if that will work, also I am the tall one in grey and green. There's some examples.
  14. Day 6, 7, and 8 of 47 the one week wrap up; Day 6 - initially started out full of drama (not caused by anyone in the house but by friends of ours who we had plans with,) but ended up being full of win as we drove to Milwaukee to fight with another local Belegarth group. Kicked ass took names for 4 hours then had dinner and sent a bunch of emails to those collected with us to neila rey and nerd fitness during dinner, drove home and still did my workout. It being speed based I blew through with little problem. Day 7 - Jet Li tribute...all the kicks and back fists. It was a grueling power workout I learned a new kick the Hook kick which was a bit to get my head around, but turned out good in the end. Despite the numerous stops trying to get the kids to bed. Day 8 - Break day! well kinda. Today's theme was balance...and while I technically made it though the challenge I could have done a lot better. One week synopsis; Fighter codex has been one long challenge so far we'll see how I do in the up coming weeks.
  15. Day 4 & 5 of 47 Where in we learn Rote is very thankful for all the sets of the Highlander workout he's done... Ok so Day 4 Jean-Claude Van Damme tribute stretching and splits. After Day 3 this was a welcome and probably needed break from all the damn pushups. Day 5. Practice! Each practice breaks my successive punches in a row, today's was 120, I am starting to feel sorry for my fellow Belgarth fighters at this point. Also I know my punch challenge is coming up I feel each of those should have a special name The first will be Chunga (for you battlelord fans out there may get the reference. But that's still three days away, till then I still have 42 more orcs to go.
  16. Keep on rocking Xena! Glad you can get out and run I miss that...I need new shoes something terrible (cause I am not running miles in construction boots.)
  17. Yay! I know the feeling, which is kind of the downside of dealing with Wisconsin in the winter time. Fortunately I abuse the exercise room at my work to complete my goals. Keep up the good work!
  18. Day Three - 3 out of 47 down Today's theme - Power, holy crap. Xena we found a brutal day! lol. Only one cup of coffee so far today, tho I did have a soda with dinner last night (it was a date and one of the very few I get to go on and it was a sprite so I am not penalizing myself for it.) Only stopped in the Cstore once today to get some tea and a Sprecher's root beer (uses Honey and not sugar.) So far flying steady and good!
  19. Day Two - 2 out of 47 down Lessening what I spend at the Cstore day by day it's dropping. I had two cups of coffee today (boo!) I blame the weather since storm fronts make me super sleepy. Day two of the Fighter's Codex is Speed, got through it on lunch, hopefully I can keep up the pace.
  20. Day one - one orc down 46 to go. So today was an emergancy coffee day, so the one cup I did have which was not a full cup anyway. Spend aprox 20$'s at the Cstore even tho I had snacks with me that would have compensated for that. So still good just not a great start. The Day One of the Fighters Codex went off with out a hitch, both me and fiance were able to knock it out in 15 minutes. It was a solid workout for day one.
  21. Yea right now I moved from a 3-4 cup a day, down to 1 - 2 cups now I am moving down to 1 - 0 it's a weening process one I have been through before but the siren call of caffeine is a hard one to resist.
  22. Day: 01 A very rough start to the day bad enough that I had to declare it bad enough for emergency coffee else i would have fallen back asleep for two more hours. More details as they come up.
  23. Welcome back! If I can offer some thoughts; 1; Up your protine but esspecially make sure you stay on top of potassium and hydration, working out that much w/o an easy day or a rest day can do hellish things to your body causing poor performance. (Read: your not allowed to break yourself, cause I said so ) I am doing something similar but 2; Learn to eat more effeciently. For me and mine we've found that Huge breakfast (cause like I need a reason to eat a pile of pancakes with honey on them) a smaller lunch and tiny dinner is the way to go. The mentality is filling up the tank for when you need it most, if you're sleeping you're probably not burning calories if you are then it's "sleeping." 3. Good choice! Yoga is a great way to keep limber (which you'll need for #1) and suprisingly lose some of that water weight. Hatha Yoga is good, there's many diffrent kinds but like walking into a Dojo if you don't work well with the instructor then it probably won't be relaxing for you. I like Kundalindi Yoga, but you can find Yoga for strength that will put you though the ropes. Best of luck I will be following you. If I can be any help let me know.
