  1. Days 1-3, Week 2 Recap Crucio - Pain tolerance = Pass, Leg raises Nope Imperio - Meditation + Stretches + Trigger Mix, Theraputty 2x Avada Kedavra - Work treats 1/3, No Soda @Home 1/3 Minions - Research into Personal Care DIY, more adulting Distopia - Up and down. Open House this weekend, looks very promising so far. Forgot to do a challenge update! I mean I've been updating about the residence/income property hunt (i.e. despairing). I feel like a ping pong ball, going from enthused to despairing easily :/ oh well. Gymnasti-Pole! Success! And wow my glutes are still sore (and my wrists). I've cancelled my 4/5 class tonight since I don't think I've got it in me to invert properly, but I'm keeping the PiYo class (need the stretching badly). In that new class, we did somersaults (not bad, but need to get landing right), back somersaults (ahaha NO), cartwheels (I didn't lose much of it on one side yay! other side sucks though) and lots of handstands/handstands prep (I can kick up to the wall!). The more advanced girls did pole cartwheels (there's a certain grip you need to know to do it, I'm not at that level yet) and I got to practice a preparation on a handstand variation instead (where you lift your legs open slowly and go around instead of straight up). I LOVED IT. AND MY BUTT AND QUADS ARE SO SUPER SORE STILL. AND UNFORTUNATELY IT'S LIKE, BOOKED FOR THE NEXT MONTH But I can try some of the stuff during Jams (did I mention I'm booked for the next month on Jams? SCORE) at least! I've been forgetting to do leg raises (it's not even entering my head, I'm oblivious to them I swear), but Imperio is doing okay. I might have forgotten one day? I dunno, I've tried to meditate for a couple minutes when I get up/go to bed and I've been stretching like there's nothing else since Sunday. I guess consciously, I haven't been doing it as well I as could. And without meaning to, I've been doing well at killing that Sugar Monster this week. Last night was the first time I had Soda this week (I've done a potion, I only have a set amount of craft sodas like root beer in my mini fridge) and today I had a chocolate croissant at work and refused pieces of milk chocolate and donuts the rest of the week Goal for the weekend is sushi with my awesome dad, Open House to check for a second/separate entrance (numbers look good on this one if there's a second entrance and we can put 2 beds downstairs), and hopefully start making a list of the things I DO have/taking a chunk out of the stuff in storage at my Dad's. Busy Busy. Tomorrow is crazy day at work, so I'm probably just gonna plop dead in my bed tomorrow night lol. --- Did check Ipsy an goodebox out. I think I like more the natural/brand investigation of goodebox more than ipsy, but looking through reviews and the previous packages I notice a certain trend... I have no clue what most of them do xD And honestly, I know myself, I'm lazy. I don't want to learn about serums and all that stuff. I really don't Plus Goodebox doesn't ship to Canada. Plus I also found a box full of tester sample stuff from the last 3 or so years that have not been touched... I think it might not be worth it at this point in my life. Maybe later? But it is a possibility I didn't think about before so thanks for mentioning them
  2. THAT HAT. Seriously super cute on you!!! Ugh wrist/hand injuries give me the heebie jeebies. No drawing till it's healed? Nononoonono NO. I do hope you're okay from the fall Hope you get back home safe and sound too.
  3. Mmm your tofu zucchini a la fish and chips sounds good. It's so weird when our brains do that But I'm sure you'll get to the point where it won't freak out anymore (probably this challenge too!). And Grats on the free game tickets and an awesome game
  4. ouchies! I think that's when you might want to look for an alternative pose.
  5. Yay on inverts! You build so much on that move to get more advanced ones Spinning classes are so weird, but that's only because I am not used to that function on the Pole. It's also pretty brutal on the grip/forearms, so I'm holding off on going to the class for awhile. Amen. That poor puppy, I feel like him most week nights when I get home. PREECH! I realize that it's a certain type of advertisement ploy, but geeze, there's better things to do than wait on someone's response. Plus they didn't even respond to all my questions AND they said it was copy pasted. If it was copy pasted (esp from your own site) and people have to ask you about it, maybe it's because you don't make the information accessible enough (this particular developer always makes me go through a gazillion hoops to find information on their apartments AND their New Builds. Such BS). Thanks Jill I'm just getting tired and the fact that I need someone else to help pay for this (ie roomate ect) really rankles me because I like to be independant (or at least I like to think I am). And every person I know under the age of 30 is having problems finding jobs let alone rent at a decent price (my older co-workers listening to the prices vs ammenities are horrified/shocked that it's that bad, and people my age are like, how do we move out from home? It's the only viable option if we don't want to live in debt or paycheck to paycheck or if we want to get ahead). Sorry if I rant on this, it's just super depressing. I know it'll work out, it's just putting all this effort in and feeling like I'm screwed either way... yep. I need to revisit my goals, and see what makes sense. The one thing about the income property I'm worried about is the competition. There are people on there who aren't getting anything and they've been listing for a couple months....
  6. Oooo! That grip looks like baseball grip (with wrist down). You're right on the "it's looks so simple but it's not" for this one Reminds me I need to practice on it... I think it's used in handspring (they used it in pole cartwheel last night for the more advanced students). Glad you had fun with your daughter and koodos on giving her the opportunity to check out a possible future career path You're being extra extra awesome and your optimism is contagious?
  7. I am here sitting at work waiting for food and I'm just drooling over that terriyaki salmon and asparagus. Oh man does it look delicious....
  8. Frog is one of those poses that help with front splits, so yes, it is a bit ridiculous. But you can't deny that it is a nice stretch when you need it. You just reminded me I need to see if I'm activating traps and lats (somehow I don't think I am...). Good work (esp adding the extra minutes )!
  9. You put a lot of thought into your business model Jill, and that is like 150% perfect/awesome. You have it written down, you've taken steps, you've gotten future goals written down. I know it'll get done and be awesome (in fact this is kinda what my pole studio looks like, though the receptionist is either the teachers or a student who gets a free monthly membership for taking one night of each week). Have you looked into the Mindbody connect app? My studio recently switched to this method for booking classes and it's amazing! Your friend is awesome And I'm glad it went well telling the bf and for week 1 even with all the meetings (I hear you on those!). Sorry to hear about your mom, but your reasoning behind it (it being super rare to do/know what makes you happy and GO for it) is spot on. Some people prefer mediocrity or stability or keeping up with the joneses, and others want to do what makes them happy. I am glad the rest of your support group is supportive!
  10. Owning Butt everywhere Karina! And I agree, we are getting restless from the snow too up north Thirding what Nymeria and joedog said. They look creepy, those not-snow men. ps. like the colours on the hat.
  11. My gluteus and my quads are feeling it this morning (and shoulders). Going to look into bringing my tablet and sneaking out for super between my regular 4/5 class and the gymnastipole the next time I can get it booked (which is mid April! Seems like the class is booked solid and even the waiting list is full continuously).
  12. I admit I'm a bit iffy on these since I barely use any makeup normally (max is mascara, eye liner and burt's bees/lipstick on the odd day I do wear any). I'll take a look, but I really don't know if I'd try it since I hate spending time doing makeup. More then five minutes and I'm done lol. But if there's natural stuff and sample sizes like Raxie says, maybe... See condo fees wouldn't be bad if they actually helped cover utilities! But they don't for townhouses and most condos here. Not even in rental apartments. They only really had citronella for citruses, but maybe if I check another store... Do you know a trustworthy website on what applications they're good for? Google gives me mixed results most of the time. I saw the powdered ones and thought maybe after the bar was done (I'm transitionning from drugstore stuff) but considering how messy I am with powdered stuff it might be better. ... and the patchouli smell is actually growing on me. crap. -WARNING: RANT-ISH PASSED THIS POINT- If we buy a house, it's an income property. That's been the plan from day 1 due to the cost of ANY property in this city. The first idea was to build an income suite in the basement and I'll grab that and rent the upstairs unit to students or something. But even the cost of a semidetached with zoning for a basement unit is 320k. Not detached, SEMI. And your operating costs are about 2500$/month, and for students you can only get about 500$/mth per room (and the competition is FIERCE in this area). And the basement suites might only be able to hold 1 bedroom not 2 due to combined laundry/water tank/furnace. So you're looking about 2500$ operating (mortgage, taxes, utilities, insurance, maintenance and future property management (10% of rent)) 1500$ in rent IF you get 3 students upstairs or maybe 1200-1400 for the unit. Maybe 2000$ total if you have 2 rooms in basement and I get a roomate (which isn't bad, but the problem is, again, space) That leaves me forking over about 1000$/mth which is almost 50% of my take home. 500-600 if I get a room mate if we have a 2bed basement. And the cost of food in the city is stupid if you want to eat real food. Actually, no. Any food, even processed crap. And that's not even considering the liquid assets in getting the house, bringing it up to code (egress, kitchen may need update, furniture for student rental). Soooo... yea. And if you just buy a 4 bedroom house (or 3 bed and add 4th in basement) and get 3 roommates, you still have the same problem. 2 bed apartments run 1100-1400 in the city (700-900 sq ft), and then they don't cover Hydro/Water/Heat (which are extra). So you're looking 1350/month usually and then finding a roommate for 650/mth (which is reasonable) (because rooms in this area run 400-600 normally). Then you need internet (probably unlimited because if you go over your allotment it's BRUTAL). Oh and then add parking (50-70$)... Basically, number wise, if I get a roomie in the own house and create basement suite, I'm at the same thing cost wise (just lots of stuff going on). Sigh... TLDR: Adulting SUCKS. ---- Spinning and Gymnasti-pole tonight! Tomorrow registration opens for spring session classes in the City (art/ect) and I'm going to look at 7-8PM Monday ballet classes. 100$ for 11 classes isn't too shabby imo to try it out. Looking at more House stuff (and apartments. half of them aren't listing the regular apartment prices nor are they saying what utilities are included until you inquire. Such BS)
  13. Ah makes sense. I don't go to a tailor, I usually just ask my mom and pay her since I can't pin my own legs lol. It wouldn't hurt asking if there's something you really like though (and is worth the investment). Oh dressy leggings are awesome! I can never tell if I'm wearing leggings or dress pants since they are so versatile. And as mentioned earlier, they are super easy with folding in boots for the sexy
  14. I found that taking in pants that I love works well instead of straight out buying new ones sometimes (though jeans are always a PITA due to double stitching). ALSO! There are dress pants leggings floating around this year!!! They feel like leggings but they use a dress pant type material if you want a compromise between the two (also super easy to dress up/down).
  15. Boom! Week one accomplished! Grats on the A+ grading and the stuff you've learned about yourself (that stuff is always priceless). And yes we do like you Rowan!
  16. Lol! Will report back my success when registration opens in a few days for the spring session
  17. Week 1 DEEEE-STROYED~ ps. because of you I'm looking at ballet classes now haha. You are a good influence. Hmmm I've seen equivalents of this at the dance store nearby (I also saw a different version that a couple pole instructors use). Might take a look at it when I go check it out
  18. Awesome week and good on the complement! Sorry to hear about your friend, I'm glad she has a group of friends to help her through whatever is happening. The drinking night is totally justifiable.
  19. That is a gorgeous place to go hiking! So how did week 1 end?
  20. Such beautiful weather, super jelly (the snowbanks are as high as I am in some spots). That does look like a mountain troll's abode but yea, seconding KB Girl's motion! Sounds like week 1 is a success
  21. I would take it with a grain of salt since I only know this from hearsay/gossip from them (plus Ottawa/Gatineau is far different from Denver culture-wise, we're a government town). I think they do 1-3 productions a year (small and big, not paid I think...), but they are also in high school/teach at the CEGEP so again, it's on the "side". But they DO specialize in musicals and practice all the time. And that is awesome, it sounds like you exceeded your expectations by far last year! It's long but worth it. I had to watch it in small chunks. Congrats on keeping up with the higher levels! That's always one of the best feelings when you do that It's like a lightbulb goes off and you're like "Holy crap I'm DOING it! There is a light!". That sounds pretty interesting actually. I bet it does tons for your grace and rhythm. Do you need pointe shoes?
  22. That is super incredible for being in the middle of your second year (from what I understand from my Aunt+cousins who do shows on the side)!!! And yes Tea is the answer Aggh! no room in the gym sucks! I'm sure you'll get over the OH plateau soon too. Question, is this ballet begginer for adults or something in between? I'm curious about what you learn in them. Speaking of casting decisions, here's some interesting ones; Hope you find it as interesting as I did, what goes on in their minds.
  23. Week 1 Recap Crucio - Pain tolerance = Pass, Leg raises half done Imperio - Half done (stretches on Thurs, trigger ball today), 2x Theraputty Avada Kedavra - Work treats 4/3, No Soda 2/3 Minions - Starting to rebuild Makeup/Personal Care stuff, adulting Distopia - Open house, may look at renting apartments (I feel in a better place to accept a room mate) Aight, so curse wise I guess you could say I only had my head half in the game. It's been a busy week, but that's no excuse for not remembering little things that can take 15-20 minutes (or saying I'll do it after the dentist appmt HAH). I am pleased with the Soda though. Won't deny that! I'm in the middle of figuring out what I want from my make-up/hair care/etc stuff. The into-mind posts are being extremely helpful I find. Though I need to be more selective and do my research thoroughly (example, the burt's bees lipstick I got isn't the exact shade I wanted nor was it like I thought, I'm not sure if the argan oil will work in the long run (at least I can use it for hair after ) but hoping it will) but at least I know more on my preferences! And that's not to say of the make-up stuff I've trashed (or I'm finishing up). Also got mason jars to make DIY stuff (like dry shampoo and hopefully that deo from karina depending if I want lavender or citronella, or patchouli (it's growing on me)). Didn't get a response on those chairs I wanted :/ And nothing of interest at the second hand stores. But at least I'm looking. Minions pass! Dystopia (Business development for the income property/me moving out) is just weird. The open house was nice, super worth it. Buuuuut not enough room to negotiate a lower price so that we could do what we wanted with the place. Heck, even just buying as-is we would need to replace a couple things (the owner is also the realtor AND current landlord). Pity, because I actually liked it. However it led me to thinking differently. Townhouses are a no-go due to the condo fees (300 month + you have to add taxes which is... probably 200 on those) since they will ALWAYS be apart of the operating costs. In fact without doing renos they cost almost as much as a semi detached/detached. Crazy. However! When I said I was done in January, I was in a mentally bad space. I didn't want to deal with others. That's different right now. I think i can deal with having a room mate or two PROVIDED that they are not like the other two I'm living with at the moment. And there's a dishwasher. Because that kitchen needs to be clean. So that's a different possibility; renting a 2-3 bedroom apartment/townhouse (believe it or not, it's way cheaper) or buying one and then having a room mate. The problem I'm now faced is, to continue with plan A, or go with Plan B. And then if it's Plan B, rent or own? So many numbers... But man, are those numbers eye openers about the living situation in this city. Geeze. So overall good week, though I think I should hard hat one thing next week. I'm going to try Imperio. BTW thoughts on essential oils? I've got Lavender, but I'm thinking citronella and peppermint might be next to acquire. What other ones do you think smell nice?
  24. Glad you're doing better Italian sausages make a lot of food super good (especially pasta stuff). Your standby looks delicious <3
