  1. Week 4, Day 4 Recap

Log All The Food - 2/2 Freebies

    Workouts 3X - 2/3 Rest Day **

Yoga Stretching - 1/2 Rest Day

    Draw and Post - Nada

Gold Quest - Scheduled for later this month

Found out what trigger I ate for crohn's.  Totally forgot it was a trigger so I'm hitting myself in the head for it (mentally, physically I think the crohn's itself is the best reminder!)

So tired!  Ate some sushi and went to see The Amazing Spider-Man 2 last night with a couple friends.  Awesome night, but only got back home at 11PM!  No wonder I'm tired   Now go do yourselves a favour and watch that movie (and then go check the soundtrack too).

** I'm debating on skipping the 3rd workout this week to try and let my shins recover since they're full of bruises and very tender right now (as well as my butt from the first stretch class).  Any thoughts?  The only reason I'd skip it is to give more recovery time this week.  I wanted to do Pole Jam tonight, but again, they are very tender (light touches are uncomfortable, and anything where I'm siting on my knees is not fun) and we have a part of floor work (and some crawling) (and yoga) on Monday .  I gritted through it last Monday, and they weren't as tender.  Another possibility is to check the gym schedule for aquafit (but that's not a garantee) since that should help them right?

Today: Hoping to do Pole Jam + Stretch.

    Tomorrow: Sushi+Movie

Friday: Pole Jam and maybe roller?

Sat: Mother's Day meal (She wants to go to this vegetarian place.  I saw the menu and debating on veto-ing...) and maybe Yoga?

That's as eloquent as I'll be tonight.  I'm pooped.

  3. Yeh, it's amazing to be so close to the woods (it's right behind my Uni, with a ton of deer!). I'm also a big fan of Escher. Something you must look up is 3D prints of Salvador Dali's work. I was flabbergasted (the only word to describe it.

Ahh, I am an illustrator, but my course offered a chance to do a term in animation. Now I have the decision to finish my final year in animation, which would give me a degree in illustration with animation. It's a good idea, I believe, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to change to animation for my final year as I enjoyed it so much! The current illustration project I'm working on is really putting me off illustration. It's a brilliant subject with so much lease for creativity, but he comes with this strange pretentiousness that after two years is starting to get old. I feel like animation is more real, and useful maybe.

Aha sorry, little vent. Just got a lot to think about.

What's your thoughts on it? Would you think that the two years of animation is too much to catch up on? And would you recommend any good books on animation? You know... To swat up on :)

    Cheers!

    Update

    Going well.

    Drew yesterday, but not today.

I've got a couple friends/old classmates who've done their animation diploma (graduated with me) and then did 1  1/2 years extra for illustration afterwards (a few of our grads did that or went into the VFX Stream.  3rd year Animation was 3D animation or Games Development).  I don't know how your school is setup, or how the industry is in your local area is (Ottawa and Toronto are pretty big hot spots), but from what they told me, they enjoyed doing the extra for illustration.  Said it really helped them with their craft (and learning some new skills illustration AND business-wise).  I admit it, I'm jealous of them for having that extra time at the school and stuff, but not the price tag lol!

As for projects putting you off Illustration... :P  I had those with 3D Animation and some 2D stuff.  You won't like all of it, but being well rounded makes you more valuable to keep at a company since (at least in our pipelines) you WILL get down time or time in between jobs.  Or maybe you're in a burn out for that aspect and need to take a break :P  (I took a year off after college due to burnout).

The bolded part of your quote, I'm guessing is one of your main Illustration teachers?  Does he have the "Art is for the sake of Art, and therefore commercial artists (those who work for money) aren't artists" attitude?  I've always found that attitude condescending and just not worth my time to deal with.  Just remember this if that is his modus operandi; is it putting food on the table or paying the bills/rent?  'Cause y'know, that's kind of important!  In fact, I'd say it's one of the most important things to consider... I admit, I felt animation and its surrounding jobs was much more useful in that respect, but illustration does have its own resources.

TLDR: If you're not going to drive yourself into the poorhouse, you're loving animation enough for it to be a passion and you've done your research on jobs/end game/after college scenarios, I'd go for both!

Richard William's The Animator's Survival Kit is like your lifeline of animation.  Buy it, Pirate it, whatever, just READ IT.  Anatomy books and references are amazing.  Figure drawing stuff is amazing.  There's way to many tutorials online but some of them (and they're free too) are gold!

Disclaimer;  I'm a recent grad so this is aaaaaalllll imo.  Don't take my word as truth, seriously research it because stuff in your area is probably different from here in Canada, and what might work for me may not be your cup of tea.  I also work as a production assistant (and other stuff, but it's not an art-centric position) and I'm loving this side of the industry as well.  I'm looking at doing production layouts sometime this year and (hopefully) getting some afterwork projects started (which illustration would be nice for).

Blah.  That's a big wall of text  >.<  Also yay on going well!  You're probably drawing more than I am atm too :P  I'm having difficulties finding the time to immerse myself in a piece.

  4. I followed the path laid out by Ms. Hatter. She's a tricky one, she is. ;)

She has to be, that kitty-napper! ;)

Also I believe X Pole has the pressure mounted one.  There's also an article somewhere about installing a pole in your rental unit on the net which I think might help?  I'd get one if there was any room in my mother's house (there's none sadly).

    Hello! :D *waves*

    Haha she sure is ;P

Well I don't own my own house yet, but I do have a pole! You can buy free standing ones on a stage/platform & there are pressure mounted ones which don't damage the roof & you don't have to screw them in :) So you don't need your own house to have one! :D But yes, pole dancing is fun!

Thank you! I'm not doing overly well at the moment, I'm in a bit of a slump =/ But hopefully I'll pick it back up and get there! Thanks for dropping by!

Welp, you do have your personal cheering squad here :)  I hope your slump doesn't last long :D

    Busy Busy Week. It goes like this;

Monday: Ate all the noms,  Did pole class, did NOT do the 8PM Yoga class. I shopped and helped someone with stuff.  Busy busy busy.

Tuesday: Nothing, but I did make some Sweet potato and Kale pizza (with prosciutto added) and choco avocado pudding with my Dad.  Crohn's decided to say hi.

Also, Protein powder works, but DO NOT forget the cocoa.  And Hot Chocolate Mix does not substitute well.

Today: Hoping to do Pole Jam + Stretch.

    Thursday: Sushi+Movie

Friday: Either going out for early Mother's Day (if the mother can make up her mind) or Pole Jam or chilling out

Sat: Either going out for early Mother's Day (if the mother can make up her mind) or Pole Jam + Stretch/Yoga and then housework.

Also, was bad and got new shoes + boots that were on sale (angry gifs ahoy) and now I'll be looking at some clothes since a major retailer is closing its doors (thus, liquidation!) (Canadian ladies, that's Jacob I'm talking about).

  6. So I thought of you today... I'm super tired and cranky and yesterday was insane gym day and my legs feel like they wanna fall off...

Decided I'd go for a walk anyway because I'm a rebel and do a mile... got to the half mile point and decided against turning around because I'm a rebel and decided two miles for me.... long story short decided I'm a rebel and rebels don't give up easily and did 4.1 miles ;)

(sent by the phone. .. all mistakes are the phones fault)

    200_s.gif

You deserve a million cheers for that :D  I don't think I'd be able to if I was really cranky+tired.

Congratulation for your level up! :D

    Yay! Thanks :D

  7. Thanks both!

That sketch is great! Feet can be a very difficult subject , and your so lucky you could go to the beach every day!

And that quote is amazing (saved on phone!). To be completely honest I've been having some trouble with Uni and my art work. I've hit that point were its becoming a bore... I feel like every time in working in a project I'm dragging myself through it. But that quote makes a lot if sense, it could very well explain this phenomenon.

    Also, update.

    Diet is going well

Exercise not so much, but I've been running around the woods so much, I like to think I'm doing something.

    Drawing going well.

Here's my favourite picture so far...attachicon.gifimage.jpg

What type of classwork?  If I remember correctly, most animation assignments are normally pretty fun.  The only one that became a bore might have been life drawing (but it's kinda like yoga, you do that first meditation/warmup and then it just flows).  I can't comment on the illustration side of things since that's a very different beast (according to friends who went in that stream).  Maybe it's something I can help with (advice-wise)?

  8. I actually include pole in that category. I mean it's close enough and you do stuff in the air. :) I've played a teeny bit with silks, bit more trapeze and now hoop, but never consistently enough to get good at anything. Just an eternal noob.

I think Tuesdays are the worst. On Mondays I have fresh energy from the weekend, on Tuesdays I get reminded that I still have almost the whole week left in the office. But now during the test period every day is worst haha.

Ditto on the Tuesdays are worst!  Or maybe it's Wednesday on a four day week :P

Eternal noobing is fun, but only up to a point. Right now I would actually really like to get out of that category. It's limiting in how much and what I can play with. And at some point in the (distant haha) future I'd love to be able to create something beautiful - and not just flail around like an idiot.

I'm a physicist at a software company. We make treatment planning systems for radiation therapy so it's high risk software and requires quite extensive testing before release. I understand it's necessary, but it's oh so very booooring.

Pretty things are always fun to do!

That sounds like when it's rendering time here, you just leave for a long lunch then.  Unless you guys have to put a bunch of inputs in and monitor the testing?

  9. 1) truth.... indeed

    2) that's amazing!!!

Haha thanks! And I've got the bruises to show for it!  I should take a picture, my shins are so blue.

Honestly, I'd do guesstimate everything as best as I can. It's hard to interpret data when you have gaping holes, especially for weight loss purposes. Let's say you conveniently forget those two meals and they're worth 700 each. That increases your average calories for the week by 200 a day. That's almost 0.5 lb of potential weight loss for that week. Doesn't matter if the meals are "healthy", you're shooting yourself in the foot if you really want to take the calorie counting approach.

And grats on the fireman! :D

I usually just plug in 1000 cals when I go for sushi at lunch time.  I normally don't eat for the rest of the day since I'm so full!  But I guestimated as much as I could for lunch (I'll do it again at dinner with the leftovers).  There's just so many little things...  But I guess it'll help to try that during sushi+movie on thursday :P

Also I've just been told it's catering on Wed and Fri too.  I can't say no to her (our Secretary/catterer/Den momma) cooking.  Excuse me while I drool at the thought.

  11. Week 3, Day 7 Recap

Log All The Food - Check (man I eat badly when I don't want to cook...)

    Workouts 3X - Nada

    Yoga Stretching - Nada

Draw and Post - Posted colour flats after Queue cutoff (about 10PM)

Gold Quest - Scheduled for 13th (as long as it all goes well...)

Rest day and cleaning day.  Drew for quite a bit as well.  I'm sooo close to finishing with this little experimental drawing/painting.  Shoulders hurt (DOMS) but not as bad as last week.

Also, I may need to do an Amendment on Goal 1's grading.  I've got sushi this week with friends (Freebie number 2) and then we're cattering at work 2 times; which means free buffet lunch normally since I help set it up (and it's really healthy with exception of deserts).  Thoughts?

** And by healthy, I've had smoked salmon, potato salad, shrimp, fresh veggies and fruit, some ham, chicken and a bit of cookies/cake.  All in small portions.  Just way too much to track imo since it's all homemade.

  12. that's cool about turning your cancelled class into something awesome :)

and you got the fireman down! (not entirely sure what that is as I don't pole dance.... but it's a new move and I am proud of you!!)

:D I'm feeling proud about that one.  The pool was full of a lot of ladies just chatting around (read: complaining loudly) about the class being late while I was using that time to do some aerobics.  I figure, I'm a Rebel, and Rebels don't give up that easily

    [video}

That's Fireman :D  Mine's not as graceful or smooth, but I've got the gist of it!  Just need more practice to nail those two points down pat.

  13. There are awesome physical differences in your before and after but IMO the biggest one (and my favourite one) is that you're giving off this confident/charismatic vibe in the newer one  :D  And you know what they say about confidence ;P

  14. Week 3, Day 4, 5 & 6 Recap

Log All The Food - 4 and 5 check (6 not finished)

Workouts 3X - Some Water Aerobics and a Pole Jam

Yoga Stretching - 3/2 Yoga class

Draw and Post - Haven't posted yet

Gold Quest - Scheduled for 13th (as long as it all goes well...)

Thursday was Thursday.  Tried to do an Aquafit class but I was in the pool for 10 minutes when someone came in to say it was cancelled (don't know why).  So I decided to experiment.  Tried doing the BBWW (minus planks) in the water for 3 rounds, doubling the reps.   Also did other parts that are normally in the Aquafit class.  Total time I spent moving, around 30 minutes, I think. Also my skirt needed to be constantly pulled up.  Same with the jeans.

Friday was a rest day, though I did eat badly (didn't feel like breakfast, forgot lunch and went across the street for food, barely had a supper).  Also got my meds for the colonoscopy (hooray Costco) along with a BIG bag of scallops, socks (I'm running out of un-holey ones here) and a running/yoga jacket in a blinding magenta/hot pink.  25$ I could have added in my next car payment or to moar food but I can't seem to find it in me to be ashamed :P

Because on Saturday... I DID LOOK AT THE PRETTY SUNDRESSES!  BUT I did not buy anything.  Except lunch (chocolate protein smoothie. I've got no appetite today).  There were things I wanted to buy (shoes and clothes) but until they go on sale/I purge my shoe closet/lose more weight, I'm putting it off.

    I went to Pole Jam (I think I've got the Fireman down now!  Still afraid of lifting that other foot off for front/Back hook) and then went to yoga (arms/shoulders and back today).  This is me now;

    tumblr_md39025RjM1rgt79vo1_500.gif

I think it's deserved :)  Also it's due to the boredom/frustration I'm dealing with my main computer.  I'm doing a fresh windows install on a new (and bigger) ssd and iTunes is being a pain.  actually, everything is being slow AND a pain for it right now...

    Sigh.

Gold Quest - Done for Month, Next extra payment is in May

I wanted to go to pole Jam and stretch tonight (Day 3), but the DOMS is strong in this one.  I did do yoga and I feel somewhat better (it's all concentrated in the arms right now).  And my badges of honour are a nice bright purple! Wheeeee!

    So it's been resting mostly.

    Also, I finally unlocked my chair.  Thankfully my co-worker who sits behind me was sick today, because I literally gave up and then slouched in the chair.  And then this almost happened. Almost;
