  1. Figure I might as well put my goals down here to help me keep track and constantly remind myself what I need to get done. Physical Goals - Run a sub 1:30:00 1/2 marathon - Run a marathon - Run a marathon (@ specific time based on performance of 1st marathon) - Complete a triathlon Career Goals - Get hired somewhere! I figure that would be a great start. Learning Goals - Destroy the GRE - Learn a few songs on the piano - Start learning Norwegian Personal Goals - Create finances sheet to better keep track of spending
  2. Sorry I've gone quite a while without an update. It's been a hectic few days with one of my sister's friends coming into town and scary rainstorms appearing from absolutely nowhere. Not so well for the first few days. My brother moved into my room while my sister's friend was here and I didn't want to wake him that early, but he's out know so the clock is set up. Although the pavement has been receiving some punishment. Day 1 Went out for my first good run in quite some time. I got in about 30 minutes at a decent pace. My watch broke a while ago so I can't be sure what time it was, but right now it doesn't matter too much to me so long as I'm running consistently. Pros: It felt good to run again, and I didn't feel any major issues with my legs or anything. Cons: It was hot...bleh. Day 2 Woke up early than I have been, but not as early as i would have liked. Nevertheless I took advantage of it and did some quick yoga in the basement. I realized quickly that I don't remember a lot of yoga, and probably should have looked more at some of the resources here, but that's just extra homework. Pros: Stretching always feels nice with slightly sore legs. Cons: I felt like a complete newb, cause I was. Day 3 Not an early start at all. I woke up at like 9am by accident, oops. I looked outside, and it was raining... Decided to stay inside during the day and see if it got better. It did for a while, when I was neck deep in GRE studying. So I didn't end up going for a run yesterday, but I did make myself go down to the basement and do a quick cardio circuit. Simple stuff like high knees, butt kicks, jumping jacks, etc. Pros: Got to sweat a little bit. Cons: Missed the prime opportunity to run. Today I want to make up for missing the run. Going out as soon as this is posted actually to do another 30 minutes at least, and I'll try and update after I'm done. Edit: Today's run went pretty well. With all the rain yesterday I pretty much felt like I was swimming, but I'll get acclimated to the humidity soon. I managed another 30 minutes, but went farther then my last one. Yea improvement. Pros: Further distance in the same amount of time. My legs are waking up. Cons: The humidity was killing me.
  3. *Shuffle, shuffle* Hello scouts! I WebMD'd that for you. Top results suggest either a hematoma, or a bruise. Apparently bruises can be caused by bruises...who knew?
  4. Thank you to everyone for the support!! I'm really glad people liked the speech! It's so amazing to get to join an awesome guild like the scouts. I'm looking forward to running with all of you over the course of the next few weeks! Also, getting transported by the Tardis, dream come true!
  5. Greetings everyone! This is actually my second time trying a challenge, first time I'm going to complete one. I recently graduated college and due to finals and then a very blurry senior week I have fallen off my running track, but excuses are in the past. Now it's time for action! Main Quest Run a sub 1:30:00 half marathon Current PR: 1:34:37 Boot Camp Workout 1) Get back in the rhythm of running. That means lacing up and heading off 4 times a week for the first two weeks. I'll plan out more specific runs/workouts for the last four weeks after I see how behind I am. 2) Get in those yoga sessions! I've had problems before with my shins and calves and I'm hoping that increasing my flexibility will help ease soreness and reduce the possibility of injury. The actual requirement is three a week, one for each off day. 3) Buzz!! Buzz!! Gotta get that alarm clock going again. One of my main excuses for not running is the heat. (Tampa, Fl) The thing is, it's not that hot around 07:30. Not heat leads to no excuses leads to running leads to progress. **Tracking my progress in excell! Also I don't plan on completing this quest in the course of this challenge, but I plan on making a ton of progress. Life Quest Unfortunately, I am a recent graduate who is unemployed and in a strange city with nothing to do but stalk Facebook and envy all the other grads who now have jobs. Fortunately, I'm not doing that. 1) Finish cover letter(s) and resume. Send out applications 2) Finish studying for the GRE. Vocab, Essays, and Practice Tests left!! Now I have two, but if everything goes according to plan number 1 will be done prior to the challenge. Many of the applications need to go out this week, so if there are any left for the actual challenge period they are late, but I included it anyway. Motivation Awesome Motivation My dad sent me this speech after my graduation speaker was...less than motivating. I know I can be faster, more powerful, more confident, and happier than I am right now and so I will be. I've already started making my bed every morning and it's been helping so I am certain that I can and will do this. Archer came upon the crest of the hill and surveyed the encampment below. Row upon row of canvas tents lined a field with tall grass and small purple flowers. A large banner hung just before the tents. Dotted underneath the banner were his fellow new scout recruits. Some seemed to be busy boasting about their speed or endurance while others seemed to be carefully contemplating the daunting journey that lay ahead. Looking to the west he saw the forest that would be his new training arena. It was dark and slightly unnerving, but Archer found himself longing to throw himself into the treacherous entanglement of shrubs and trees. Breaking away from his urge he turned back to the camp and headed down to join his new found ranks. Passing under the large banner Archer finally was able to read its message, "Welcome to the Rebellion Scout Boot Camp! New scouts await first mission details here."
