  1. Update for Monday, April 21st, 2014 Bodyweight workout went well. Doing five reps on each leg for each set of the Bulgarian split squats is a touch easier than last time. Changed from bent-leg bodyweight rows to straight leg, to increase the difficulty a bit. 4 reps on each set. Got another two seconds out of the plank. After the normal workout, I set a Tabata interval timer and did a couple rounds of alternating working the heavy bag and deep close squats, but didn't have the energy to do more than two rounds after all else. Wussed out, but it was extra credit, so I'll take it. Pretty nice day out. I think I'll play some Borderlands now.
  2. Update for Sunday, April 20th, 2014 Happy Easter, to those who celebrate it, and happy Sunday to everyone as well. Jogged the 5K non-stop again. My time was about 2:30 faster than the first time I did it without walk breaks (and only other time, so far). This was unexpected and made me feel great, especially as I wasn't too exhausted afterward. During the run, I listened to the Zombies, Run! app, with a pretty eclectic music playlist. I need to maybe find something a little more fitting, because the BPM of some of the songs messed with me a little... had to slow myself, a couple times, with the faster songs. Also, with the Zombie app - I have the zombie chases off. I'm not going to push myself with those for at least another week or two probably. It was a nice day out. This is corny as hell, but when I get tired or want to quit running, I will only let myself quit if I can say to myself, "I give up." And I hate doing that. So instead I'll ask myself, "Would Rocky quit? No! He'd finish the damn run and then go kick Apollo Creed's butt!" This is really motivating for me. Hahaha.
  3. Thanks! The day off was nice. That run on the boardwalk in VA beach sounds awesome... I've still only ran solo. Hopefully that'll change soon! Thanks! I keep myself looking one day at a time as far as not letting myself get overwhelmed, and long-view as far as seeing how far I've come and how far I anticipate going. If that makes sense, haha.
  4. Update for Friday, April 18th, 2014 Increased my reps on Bulgarian split squats by one, increased pushups by one, realized that I actually increased bodyweight rows by one during last workout and by one this time, but had slight difficulty completing last set of eight, so will repeat for a couple more sessions and see how it goes. Added five seconds to plank time. Everything else is as before. I'm pretty excited that tomorrow is my day off. Hahaha.
  5. Hey, it sounds like you're committed to your own progress, though. And I agree on the punishment thing. But... it's starting to grow on me. Slowly. We'll both keep accomplishing.
  6. Damn, ashhhole - thanks! That means a lot to me. I have definitely been gaining a lot of respect for the mental commitment that runners have... I never knew before, just thought it was something mystical one was born with, you know? Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  7. Thanks, sjr243. Showing up is half the battle! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  8. Update for Thursday, April 17th, 2014 Went and did 5k around the cemetery again. I wanted to jog it non-stop as I did on Tuesday, but that wasn't in the cards. I jogged a little over a mile and then had to switch to run-walk-run, which is okay. My legs felt like they were still recovering from the other day, and my pace was too quick for that first mile, so I burned myself out too soon. Learn from my mistakes. At about 40:30, this was faster than the non-stop jog, but still slower than the constant run-walk-run. It's a process, and right now the important thing for me is to put in the minimum thirty minutes. And I'll keep working on the distance/speed. Meals were so NOT paleo today... but delicious.
  9. It sounds like you're doing awesome, HyrulianHero. One of the things that has held me back in the past is letting setbacks discourage me and ultimately I have given up on goals, just out of minor shame or disappointment in myself - looks like you're already kicking that possibility right in the ass! Like Red1263 said, keep your eyes pointed in front of you!
  10. Thanks, 18ck! I'll definitely do that... and one of my goals moving forward is to transition up to 10k, but I'd love to increase my speed with the 5k first. I'll check in to the Tavern tomorrow.
  11. Thanks, TheStephil. I like having to keep myself accountable here... I was pretty tempted to take today as my recovery day, but it's so much nicer having that in the bank still.
  12. Update for Wednesday, April 16th, 2014 Today was a bit of a hard scramble to get the bodyweight workout done before heading to spend a few hours with my best friend. Reps were the same as on day 1, although I didn't complete the pike pushups. My form isn't good, and I haven't locked it down yet. Everything else is looking good, and I feel like I got better benefit from the leg-assisted pullups - I really took my time on these, only gave myself as much assistance as was needed (a lot). Two paleo meals today - pork roast vegetables and leftovers. Had lots of coffee today, little bit of cream. Breakfast was standard - plain Greek yogurt with cinnamon and also had two brownies today. Yummy. Looking forward to my run tomorrow. Since I finally broke the 5k non-stop, I got the Zombies, Run! app and will try it with my next continuous jog. Oh, and did a bit of impromptu fixing on a fence last night - technically this works towards the life goal, though I want to do a bit more before counting it for this week. Gotta buy some cement and dig some new post holes this weekend or early next week. Holla!
  13. I'm in SE Idaho. You can do both the fitness goals and the GRE! What do you aim to do your Master's in? Library science? I began, but did not (so far) finish my MA in anthropology. Anyway, good luck! Kick some butt! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  14. If you've gone three days, you've got it in you to do three more! Keep up the good work.
