  1. Why am I so angry at the world today?

  2. This is being posted a day late, but it is the beginning of week 3 and so far I would give myself a B- at worst. I've made it halfway, which I find very promising. (Also it means i get to level up! ) Last week I had to travel to southwest Wyoming to visit my great grandmother who had broken her leg, so I had no access to gym equipment, but I did stretch and do some bodyweight exercises in the morning, so I won’t count it against me. My hemiparesis is still causing me to do a bit of overthinking, but I think sticking to weights will be good for it in the long run. Besides, I don’t need to necessarily keep up my speed on the bag; my chances of entering the ring are slim.
  3. In a post-apocalyptic world, how would society use you?

  4. Wow, amazing progress. I am very impressed and inspired. show that Stanley Parable narrator that he was wrong about you!
  5. Ok, its cool guys. Thank you for your time and input. Aurai is correct, it would be a time consuming process and I don't want to spend it on nothing. I can see where ShadowLion is coming from though, its my challenge so I should have it completely figured out before proposing it. Could you direct me to where I should post concept ideas though, ShadowLion? Next time around I'll have a fully set up idea on this thread. There doesn't seem to be any interest from actual participants though, so I'll just leave it as it sits. Maybe try again later or something.
  6. Hemiparesis is a neurological disorder similar to cerebral palsy that weakens the muscles on one side of your body. It sometimes manifests in stroke victims as well, but I was born with it. The problem with going too easy on the right side is that it will never make gains, but if I go harder on it, or even at the same pace as my left side, it will get overworked and deteriorate. I'm kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place, trying to get advice anywhere I can. But no worries, I'm sure I will figure it out.
  7. Achievement unlocked (perfect day! 50 pts)
  8. As week two winds down, I can honestly say that I've learned quite a bit. I have a bit of anterior pelvic tilt, and when I rotate my hips to proper alignment, my stomach is actually pretty flat.My right-sided hemiparesis is still an issue in my life when working out. I knew it was never going away completely, but I had kind of forgotten about how difficult it was to work past in my youth.Weightlifting has, in fact, made me slower on the bag, which I was warned about but didn't really buy into until now. With this in mind, I feel that maybe I should modify my challenge. However, that would undermine the original goal, which was to stick with something for a decent amount of time, and quite honestly it may just be my lack of focus kicking in making me want to change things. On a separate note, however, I have been searching around for any info on how to compensate for right-sided hemiparesis in the gym and have come up with jack squat. Does anyone here have any suggestions or advice?
  9. Congratulations champ...champ sounds kind of patronizing when not directed toward a dog or six year old boy doesn't it? congratulations champion.
  10. Fine, I don't care. Rejection from society is what created the X-Men.
  11. Yesterday I had a great discussion here regarding human nature involving the ideal concepts of good and evil. Today I’m wondering if an ideal concept can actually exist in reality.

Yeah, there appear to be a few flaws with Platonic Realism.

I do disagree, however, that simply existing makes you valuable. There have been plenty of people throughout human history who have been completely worthless.

      Eilyd

I need to find a clearer way to phrase that. A person is valuable because they are unique, with their own potential contributions to society and their not-like-anyone-else self-ness. That being said, ignorance, disuse, and abuse of this self can make someone worthwhile into someone worthless. It is a shame that many people allow themselves to become so.

Potential value I can agree with.

  13. So, it turns out that I have a bit of anterior pelvic tilt. I'm gonna throw some planks and glute bridges into my stretching routine and shift a bit of stretching focus to my hip flexors. Hopefully that will roll my hips backward a bit.
  14. I'll try a PvP instead. I think this could be a fun idea. My PvP challenge thread
  15. I've started a new thread in PvP for any boxers or martial artisits, give it a look and let me know what you think. If I get enough positive feedback, I'll make it happen http://rebellion.nerdfitness.com/index.php?/topic/47625-simon-saysor-something/

  16. I'm considering starting a PvP for boxers and martial artisits that is kind of like Simon says. The concept could hopefully allow the participants to learn new moves and teach others new moves as a sort of information exchange. It would require a video post from the participants and possibly some considerable setup time and logistics planning on my part, so give it a read and give me some feedback: The first person to start the challenge would begin with a 3 hit combo on a heavy bag, the participants would try to copy the combo, and after successfully repeating it, show their own 4 hit combo, which the participants would then try to replicate adding a 5 hit combo afterward and so on until nobody could top that person, who would receive a point. The person to post a response first would be the combo to top next in the challenge, and there would be a 48 hour window of inactivity before the latest combo is deemed the winner and a point is awarded. The person to earn the point would provide the new 3 hit combo. First to 5 points wins. Logistically speaking, I would probably set up a youtube account and give the login info to the various participants, then change the password at the conclusion of the challenge or something like that. Let me know if anyone is interested or has some feedback.
  17. Here is a link to some pretty sweet hand speed workouts if you are interested. http://www.expertboxing.com/boxing-training/boxing-workouts/hand-speed-drills-and-exercises
  18. Maybe I should look into one of these accountability groups.
  19. Ok nerds. Marry, boff, kill. Scarlett Johansson, Tina Fey, and Jennifer Lawrence. For you ladies, Tom Hiddleston, David Tennant, and Robert Downy Jr.

I think I've finally made up my mind. Marry Tina Fey, she really is better then Jesus; boff Scarlett Johanson, she has the most exquisite body I've ever seen; and I wish I could have all three, but kill Jennifer Lawrence.

  20. Alright, week one went well. Got all of my weightlifting sessions in, went a bit lighter on the bag workouts than I would have liked, but got them in, and managed to drag myself out of bed to stretch on tuesday, thursday, and saturday. I'd call that a good start, B- for missing some stretching sessions. Now week two. this is about where I'll probably start loosing interest, so lets see if I can keep it up.
  21. Wow, your fever dreams are brutal. At least the narrator's voice is rather soothing, unless he was just saying "Jessikuh laid in bed to no avail, it made no difference and did nothing to move the story along." all day. Glad you're feeling better and getting out and about.
  22. Much less sore today than I was on Tuesday, getting tougher to get up and stretch in the morning though.

      Ba'sini'on

I hear ya, after a brutal workout stretching the day after feels gruesome. But it's got to be done :-|

  23. Sounds like you are very clear in what you want to accomplish and some military discipline, should have no problems. Good luck in the civilian job market, it can get kind of brutal.
