  2. Thank you! Week 2, Day 1 I don't know what got into me on Sunday, but it knocked me out yesterday. I slept for around 12 hours that night, and then took a 4 hour nap during the day, and was then asleep again by 10, when I woke up 11 hours later this morning. In between my nap, I was tired, and all I did was eat and read and go through literally 2 boxes of tissues. The good news is that I added 90 minutes of reading! But other than that, 0 workouts, 0 yoga, and 0 points for food.
  3. Week 1, Day 6 I woke up pretty sore from Friday's run, and by the day I could hardly move. I was right Friday night when I said that I probably wouldn't do much on Saturday. I did get yoga in however. Food was only 20 points. Week 1, Day 7 I had to coach that morning, and then father's day celebrations in the evening. I had planned to go for a run and do BBWW in the evening, but my little cousin wanted to ride the 4 wheelers, so I took her out. After half an hour of teaching her to drive in fields my allergies kicked in real hard. I wound up not being able to see anything for the rest of the day because my eyes swell shut so bad. I'm feeling moderately better today, enough that I will get my WO in today, but yesterday there was no chance. No yoga, and 20 points for food. This week finished pretty rough, I'll have to do better in week two.
  4. I love finding another Runner 5, there are a lot of them around here. The story will probably get you hooked and running will become easy then! Congrats on your tournament and your stripe! Both great accomplishments!

  6. Week 1, Day 5 Got my run in today. It was a big one too. Its the longest run I've had since.. oh you know.. November. I put in 4 miles. That being said, the longest I've run since December (excluding today) was two miles, so I knew I was going to die. I went two miles up the street, planning on doing 5 minute runs and 1.5 minute walks. Then turn around with all bets off for the return trip. The first two miles were fantastic, exactly how I wanted them to be. The return trip was good too. I walked more than I ran, but I ran WAY more than I expected to. Also, it was on my parent's street so it was hills galore! This is a picture of what my garmin told me about elevation: It was ~450 elevation gain. Which felt like a lot, but if someone who runs hills for workouts could give me a different perspective that'd be great. Got my yoga in. Its the cheap kind that is for "bedtime" that you do actually in your bed, but hey, I'm tired. I ate really well today, 30 points, and as a bonus I found a primal friendly dish that my father actually enjoyed. He has bitched about every single thing that I've made, but no noodle lasagna sat well with him today! Yay! Also, I played slow pitch softball today. Immediately following my post run shower I grabbed dinner that my mom cooked for me, ate it in the car, went to softball, got lost, so I walked around trying to find my team for ~20 minutes, and then as soon as I got there I had time to change my shirt and get up to bat. I was already out of breath at this point (and beat from my run) and I decided to hit the first pitch, hitting a very nice double. The very next play I got out sliding into third and now my whole leg is grossly scraped up. I wanted to go home and sleep after that, (actually, I considered borrowing one of the bases for a pillow) but I still had 6.5 more innings to go.... I never felt rested for a single second playing today. But that seems like a good thing for building endurance. I'm supposed to run tomorrow, but after today's adventure I give myself permission to only do BBWW, if I feel sore. I will determine that in the morning. So finally, while the rest of the team is getting rowdy on a Friday night, I'm going to PTFO.

  9. I relate to a lot of what you're saying, and like Blaidd said, there's no judgement here. Its one of the most accepting sites I've ever seen, so don't hesitate to get involved. We all want to see every member succeed. No matter how they define success. I wish you luck with your challenge.
  10. Thanks! I do feel pretty good. But not crazy manic good like I did at the beginning of my last challenge. I don't see myself burning out super fast this time.

  12. Week 1, Day 4: Today I did sprints, for the length of my driveway, maybe around 300ft? They were hard. Harder than anything I've done in awhile. But I finished 3 real strong (and then because I had to get back anyway...) a halfassed fourth. I think its a good benchmark for me though. After that I did my first experience ever with BBWW (BBW?). I got through a whopping one circuit. But I finished all the target numbers. I think after sprinting I was real tired. I'll have to try this again, and soon! I did a bunch of 1-2 minute yoga sequences today (mostly trying to earn my first badge on myyogapro) Food today was good. I get full credit! Yay 30 points!
  13. Hey! I just came across your thread and I'm hooked!!! If you're still wondering about running in less than perfect weather, my general rules of thumb are: if I'm training for something then there are no excuses. If I'm only staying in shape then I won't run when its below freezing, unless its real sunny, but that's because the cold makes me a really mean person. On those days I'll do a workout vid at home. This time of year however, if the weather man says its only going to rain one day, I'll rearrange my workout schedule so that I can run on the better day. Or I'll put my rain coat on and go to it. Wearing a hat or visor helps because it keeps the rain out of your eyes, and the rain keeps you nice and cool so that's nice. I find that it is mostly about perspective. The more pumped you can make yourself feel, the better the run will be. If you start cautious, and are trying to stay dry, the run will be miserable. But if you run out your door and jump in the first puddle you see, then you'll be skipping around and feel like a kid during your run. Also, if you haven't figured out the "where do I keep my phone" issue, I usually keep mine in my sports bra. Now I'm relatively flat chested so its not poking anywhere uncomfortable, and if its going to be particularly hot or a long run I have to wrap it in cling wrap or a plastic bag because once I ruined a phone by sweating too much into it....... That one was awkward to explain to the phone fixing guys. In response to worrying about drivers, I can say that as a driver, before I started running, I never noticed runners. At all. No matter what. They were like another tree or something. So I bet a ton of people feel the same. Now that I've started running I notice people a bit more, but still the most they get is "WOW THAT PERSON IS SO FAST HOW DO THEY DO THAT? HOLY COW!" (because in this instance I'm usually stuck in traffic and they're running faster than my car can move) or "wow I'm so jealous that you get to run right now while I'm stuck in my car probably going somewhere really boring." I don't think I could tell you what gender a person is, let alone what their weight is, or what their arms look like in their tank top. Moral of the story, even if people are paying attention to you, they're not actually paying attention. They're caught up in their own thoughts, and don't actually care enough to worry about your appearance.
