  1. I agree with everything that Vain says and their are no real conclusive tests that show the medications that are manufactured really improve our lives. I work in a nursing home and can tell which resident is on multi medications and those are on very few. The ones taking tons of pills are getting worse and the others are still full of spark and life. I upset my Dr. every year after my blood test show my LDL/HDL's numbers are scewed. They have been for ever and have not changed in 15yrs!!! I have no build up of cholesterol in my body at all. In other words my heart works fine and the blood flows well. Why mess up what works okay. Yes I do have some blood pressure issues but that has more to do with dealing with a sick spouse and I do take meds for that. So much of our enviroment affects our body and we live in a very over chemical world. It's no wonder we have all kinds of health issues.
  2. Eating out for a Lactose/Gluten intolerant person is hard so going Paleo was no problem because I already have the problems solved. I live in a small town in the middle of no where and have few choices eating out here. We used to have a Mexican resturant that just could not get my order correct so I just never went back! When I go to the BIG CITY I have no problem however. My fav place to go for a beef or turkey burger is Hardys who are very willing to wrap in a lettuce leaf and I get a side salad. Any large resturant is very easy because I just go simple everytime. I always hate to look at the menus because most everything is covered with sauces and cheese. I do miss cheese!! Oh well maybe in my next life.
  3. Since I wrote this i really thought about what I have been eating and I am probably short on the protien and vegtab;es but eating too much fat! I have lost 3lbs in the 2 1/2 weeks of diet change which is not too bad. I don't want to lose to fast.
  4. I do love this diet because it was a short jump from my present diet. I am Lactose/gluten intolerant and have been for a awhile so going Paleo was very easy. My concern is that at my present age (64) am I getting enough protien or not enough. I find that I do okay consuming the bulk of my protein in the early part of my day and consume fresh/cooked vegies through out the rest of the day with some nuts and fruit added as needed the rest of the day. I think I'm getting enough oil-fat consumed because I do not feel hungry very often. I sleep like the dead at night which hasn't happened since the hormone changes 10 yrs ago. I do also drink Almond/Coconut milk, goats milk, goat cheese (when I can get it). Am picking up my processed goat tomorrow so that will be eaten along with beef, pork, chicken, deer, and any other game I can get. Fish I'm a little short on! Need to really work on that and I will. Just got out of habit because Husband and Children did not like smell of it when cooking. I get pretty good work out daily working in yard and walking but probably will add more eventually. I need to only loose about 15 more lbs so I know it will come pretty fast if I'm not careful. Well what do you think guys?
  5. I'm a newbie just starting last week and really have only one question: Is it okay to consume lacto-fermented veg and kombucha? I know they probably are not paleo but I love both a lot. Other than that changing to Paleo is not much of a jump for me because at this time of my life (64yrs) its just up from being Lacto/gluten free. I have spent a bigger part of my life trying to understand the workings of the body/food relationship and have found (always) that eating a clean diet is the healthiest way of life. However, I have not always been good at sticking to a good eating plan. My biggest problem is that I just plane get lazy about my meals and I have never been able to convince my family that the food at the lower levels at thet grocery store are not the good stuff! Now the children are on their own and its just my husband and myself which means he cooks what he likes and I my own meals. In other words I could never change him either!!!! So I always go on my own mission looking for a healtheir way of eating and try to get him to try other things. Now for the Paleo diet, it makes complete since and I can go with it very easily as long as I don't get lazy. How do I keep myself motivated to continue on the path of loosing 20lbs of fat off this old body of mine?
