  1. So sorry for your loss! I hope you can find ways to nurture yourself during this tough time. We're here for you!
  2. Update!: I haven't done too well this week with packing my lunches - I missed my usual grocery shopping day since my friend was in town, and it affected things in that area. Sad! For workouts I've also been doing average, I really need to boost my motivation! In good news, I got cast in Pride and Prejudice as Jane, the oldest sister. It's the secondary female lead, so I'm pretty happy. Plus I jokingly say that I'll take it as a compliment, since Jane is supposed to be the most beautiful sister, haha. I'm just hoping that the added demands on my time for rehearsals won't derail me from my fitness goals! Note to self: get a crockpot...
  3. Update: My friend returned home today. I didn't do any workouts while he was here, but we walked around A LOT, and I actually ate pretty well while he was here, so I'm calling it a win. Have to get back on the normal routine now! As for the audition, I had a call back last night, and I think it went well! It's for Pride and Prejudice, and they read me for Elizabeth, so I'm REALLY excited! I love Jane Austen. <3 I'm hoping I'll find out in the next couple days. Wish me luck!
  4. I've definitely had this issue with certain styles of pants. Something I did that helped was to get sized at the Levi's store. They have a lot of different fits to their jeans, and the people that workthere were pretty knowledgeable about what to recommend based on my measurements. The only drawback is that Levi's are pretty expensive, but if you get a great fit, I imagine they would last you quite a long time.
  5. I'm lactose intolerant and I also have IBS. I have noticed that if I eat certain trigger foods that I am sensitive to, WITHOUT a hearty helping of carbs, I have a more severe reaction than if I included carbs in the meal. For example, if I eat lots of cheese, or cream based sauces, it's easier to digest with bread or pasta than with a big plate of veggies. Perhaps you are naturally sensitive to some ingredient in the pie, and the new balance of your diet has just made your sensitivity more prominent?
  6. That's amazing, what an accomplishment! Congratulations!
  7. Update: Life has been keeping me very busy, and to cap it all off, a friend from out of town is arriving this Sunday, and I still haven't done anything to prepare my apartment for a guest! I'm worried about straying too far from my fitness goals while enjoying my friend's company - we'll be going to some bars, and although I rarely overdo drinking, I usually end up eating junky food when I'm buzzed. I need to try extra hard to avoid that! I'm going to make sure to fit in a work out tonight AND tomorrow so that I'm free to enjoy the couple days of visiting without worrying about skipping one. Plus we'll be walking around a lot, so I'll at least be somewhat active. In news of life goals, I also have an audition this Sunday that I haven't done much preparation for. It's funny how all the important dates all end up clustering around the same time. Must remain unstressed...
  8. It's been 2 days since my last workout, but it seems to be kicking in today - random soreness in the glutes from all the squats!

  9. Update! I've had a super busy run of work the last couple of weeks - we're doing some fundraising that I've been pretty involved in, and it's eating into my time a bit. I skipped a workout (although I did my usual hour long walk that day) so I'm a bit disappointed. A heat wave has come on in my area, so it's also zapped my energy a bit. The good news at least is that it's encouraging me to drink more water, so at least that goal is still going well. Hi! Yay Whovians! I'm looking into the parkour group next week. I have a friend visiting from out of town on the meeting day, and we already have plans, but I'm excited to go check it out! It seems like one day a week they meet for conditioning, and on a different day they do training. Unfortunately I'm only free on the conditioning day, but every little bit counts, and maybe I can meet a more experienced traceur that might be willing to train with me!
  10. First time with a parkour group next week!

Thats wicked! I think parkour is the coolest!

  11. I finally bought my filtered water bottle, and it's helped a LOT with drinking more water! Another nice thing about it is that is has measure marks on the side, so I know how much I'm drinking. After paying attention to my water intake, I feel like I probably consume enough LIQUID in a day, but it's not always water (I love tea!) So now I just have to tell myself that if I drink tea, it's as an extra to my liquid intake, and not to replace my normal water intake with the tea. Also been plugging away with the workouts. The last time, I added more reps to the usual, and it felt good! I also found a local parkour group that does conditioning on my day off from work, so I'm excited to go scope it out!
  12. Oh no, that sounds awful! I know how tempting it is go to food for comfort, I do that a lot when I feel down or sick. I find that doing something that fully engages my mind (logic puzzles, suspenseful book or movie, etc) helps distract me from cravings. It's tough when you're sick though and all you can/want to do is move as little as possible. Feel better soon!
  13. Week one update and grading: 3x a week routine: A 2x a week routine: A Preparing lunch every night: B - worked an extra day this week and didn't have time to get groceries beforehand, so only ended up bringing snacks and buying a cup of soup for lunch. Overall doing pretty good! I need to work harder this week at drinking more water though, that was probably the area I needed the most improvement. Gotta keep going!
  14. Amazing how cutting back on carbs and sugars is already helping shrink my belly bloat!
