  1. Thanks for asking! Its been going really well but life has just been too busy to post.
  2. Nope, no worries, post away. It was nice to meet y'all!

  4. Oh yeah I am already trying to decide between a greyhound or a mimosa...
  5. My personal opinion is that its valuable for children to see adults drinking responsibly. Could be, I usually bring some cars and some colors then she is usually fine as long as she has something to munch on and something to do. Fancier places sometimes aren't into kids coming but most places are good as long as the kids aren't nuts.
  6. As an aside I am from Ft. Worth originally so it will be nice to meet someone from my native Country.
  7. Looks like Founding Farmers might be easier Metro access for us, its only about 30 min metro ride to foggy bottom and an hour to U-street (45 min to GA ave/Petworth). I would like to bring my two year old along if that's alright. I don't mind bowing out if you guys are hoping for a kid free brunch experience though! Weights, cycling and yoga is our normal Saturday morning. I look forward to it all week but it would be nice to meet some NF nerds!
  8. Sound body, Sound mind, sound soul. My mood is much improved and I am finding comfort in my skin. I might not ever loose the loose skin around my middle but I am loving getting healthier. I hit a dance class tonight and only did two songs in the hour at a 'reduced' intensity. I love getting more energy and being able to do more. I also really like lifting. I talked to someone at the gym I spotted on the rings and so now I want to try to start my dead hang practice on them. They are really really high though. Maybe 9/10 feet up. Now (at end of last challenge): Bf%33.3 (33.3%) BMI:24.6 (24.9) Pants size: slightly comfortable weight:143.6 (147) waist: 30 (31) belly:36 (38.5) hip:39 (39.5) thigh:22.5 (23) arm: 12 (12) Drop that BMI to around 22: I guess most of my recent weight loss (got down to 140) was actually water loss from being really sick between challenges. My weight and BMI have gone up slightly from last Monday despite being pretty good with food choices, calorie counting. Kind of thinking this might not be an attainable goal for my body type. I'll keep doing my thing though and see where I end up. 3 workouts a week: -Monday-Kick n Core & Yogalates Tuesday-Modified Bodyweight Workout with TRX, line dancing Wednesday-off Thursday- Bench, Overhead Press, Deadlifts, Dumbell Rows, barbell squats, pull up assists, tri dips Friday-travel day Sat-Cycling-deadlifts, barbell squats, Hatha Flow Yoga Sun-lying in the sun reading (I have been on mommy vacation with the hubby and tiny monster <3 gone. So far- a few papers from Materials Corrosion selection, Terry Pratchett, The Power of a Praying Wife, The Restoration of Men, and The Fault in our Stars{saw the movie too}) Flonase twice a day: So I've been only about 40% on this one. Away on travel I don't notice as much when I miss it but boy howdy, at home, totally do. If I don't do it, again breathing is way under-rated. Pull up without assist-60 lbs still, (3 sets of 5 reps of regular, 3 sets of 3 reps of narrow, 3 sets of 3 reps of wide- I wait until I can get 3 of 5 to move down) Splits:-some days better than others. I talked to my Hatha Yoga instructor and got some good pointers and she helped me correct my form, now I can do the stretches effectively without hurting my knee. Life quest: Pay off debt: So I had a nice per diem check coming to spend on my car principle- but I spent it all on a mini makeover as I've achieved a level up at work that requires power professional dress and makeup- (which I stopped wearing as things have run out) and needed some new stuff. I could literally go to the lab in work out attire and sometimes do. I admit I do wear my house slippers to work from time to time. I could use some more myfitnesspal buddies if anyone wants to add me. I am lanielouo0 on MFP.
  9. whoa whoa whoa. That just isn't right. the elephants beneath our feet tremble, the turtle doesn't care though. The books are hilarious so don't read them around quiet people like librarians who don't have bananas or on airplanes, or outsiders. Its dangerous and its likely you don't have the right kind of inn sewer ants for that. One of my daughter's favorite books to read at night is 'Where is Cow?' Disc world is beyond phenomenal. Then if you start toeing the line and feel like throwing in with Neil Gaiman, you must read Good Omens. It is one of the best books written in all time, they co-wrote it.
  10. thanks for the reminder! I'll do it now.
  11. I vote for weighted squats or what about squat jumps? You could also sub in a mabu for the squats. Keep feet straight, thighs parallel to the ground as if seated, back straight hands out. Hold stance for as long as possible. Start out at 1 minute. After you can do 5 minutes add a bar or hold weight plates.
  12. After my daughter was born I started out doing plates and yoga, specifically trudie styler videos. I couldn't do the whole routines but having a routine to strive for strengthen my core and my confidence. See if she can find a local post partum pilates group. I also found that simple leg lifts either laying on my back or seated on the edge of a sturdy chair helped. Help to make sure that she is kind to herself too. It takes time to get the muscles back and settle in to your new beautiful post partum body.
  13. I am worried about getting too hungry! calories in, calories out is far too simplified. I feel like I get crazy hungry!
  14. The exhaustion got me in my last challenge way to go for catching it so soon and making changes! I've been feeling the inside side of my knees sort of pinched. I don't push past when it starts to hurt too bad.
  15. You'll have to keep posting progress of your painting too! I've been working on my pull-up too. I'm down to about 60lbs assisted, a long way to go but I started around 120. Negatives and dead hangs have really helped. How's your first week of your second challenge going?
  16. How are you feeling? Have you found yoga and jogging to be working out well?
  17. How has it been going? Are you planning on busking with the flag for cash? Works in key west; sounds interesting! Double workouts that often is challenging, especially on top of 3x soccer. I found I just burned out after several weeks of something similar.
  18. Wiping the sweat from her nose again and wiping the mud from her brow, she picked herself up again. She had been knocked down over and over again. Every logical though left asked why she was even there. The next blow came before she was up again, a front kick to the head. Breathing heavy and reeling she rolled back over her head to stand. Returning to her stance she was ready to start again. Still on travel so no update, however I do feel better overall. The weeks between the challenge I tried to cleanse and just stay to my weight loss calorie goal. I had to reset my hunger levels after my last challenge. I was grumpy, got sick, and had no energy but my hunger levels came back to reasonable and my weight loss got started again. During that time and my previous challenge, I realized that when my body is dehydrated, I gain. This week I just haven't been drinking the fluids I should and lo and behold- bloated. Despite that I feel smaller and more energetic. My lower hunger levels has made eating to my goals much easier. Today my buddy and I tried out all the exercises in the 5x5 workouts. It was a blast! We added some tri dips and pull up work. Couple laps around the track. Improved my mood after a tough work day and it was a blast. I fasted breakfast this morning but ate my breakfast back in the form of a pre workout cliff bar. Might not do 5x5 but I will certainly add those in to my gym visits!
  19. Okay-like I said- long physical day. Double post. Eh well.
  20. This week has been going well. I'm on travel this week so I'm away from my scale and measuring tape. For the record, Sunday my scale said 142, Monday the gym scale said 147, and the shipping scale at work said 145. I stayed within my calorie goals except for today. I was pretty hungry after a pretty physical day at work but I have no idea how to count the calories for my physical activity for today. I am pretty sure it doesn't matter since I finished off dinner with a dairy queen. Workouts have been great this week and the forward fold has really loosened my hamstrings. I am planning on the 'try to get a washing machine' workout-lots of stairs and rows since the doors are pretty heavy on each of the 6 floors I have to check. Then some stretching. Yesterday I went line dancing in the spirit of doing something I suck at. I was terrible, it was a blast! Before that a friend of mine came to do a modified bodyweight workout with me. We got through three circuits together and had a great workout.
  21. So for today, I had Cream of Wheat Cereal with 2% milk, for lunch grilled blackened chicken breast, boiled eggs and a handful of delicious cherries. These kept me full and going until after a trx modified beginner body weight workout. A friend came along and mDe the time much more manageable. After that I did something I suck at: line dancing!! What a blast! I wish I had taken some pictures today of dinner. I had most of the best veggie burger ever, two onion rings, and some brownie ice cream. Hard work tastes good! I managed to meet my calorie goal today. I performed some minimal stretching towards splits, and worked on body weight rows towards my pull up.
  22. Glad someone caught that... Thanks Nuala! I was thinking about how to add a social goal to keep up with others.
  23. I am going to stalk you for your splits! I've already stolen your pinterest find there. I find that last one really hurts so I'm hoping some more hip openers and hamstring lengtheners might help. you look like you are pretty close to getting yours back. Political science would probably be a good summer course for the retention part. Recalling all that reading will be easier in a short course, if time consuming. My kryptonite was calculus 2. I quit the first time because I thought I was failing. Turns out there was a huge curve. Second time I dropped it, third time I must have failed it I don't recall, fourth time I got an A. Just got to get over the block. Good luck!
  24. We've got some similar goals, are you following any sort of progression for your splits? Were you able to do them sometime before and working on reattaining it? I like the burpee idea. I shall share it with my hubby. Right now I just threaten to punch him when our two year old starts to repeat his more unsavory terms...
