  1. On the chance that I'm going off topic. Is this why CrossFit and "Paleo" so often go hand in hand? - Gugi9000
  2. Bouldering or climbing. Skiing and snowboarding. Squash. Single track mountain biking. - Gugi9000
  3. Anecdotal, but still: I've done body weight strength training and long sprints. Then 10k and the week after the half. It doesn't have to be complicated :-) Why all these guides? Just get out there and increase your time running bit by bit. I'll answer. Becuase we love numbers and schematics. It's scary to do it by feel - "what if I'm wasting my time?". I'll go sit in my corner. Sorry. - Gugi9000
  4. I see. I forgot :-) I thought they were finishers - "if you have more energy". Then I revert to it being an upper body day :-)
  5. Gain what? You gain plenty muscle on sprints.
  6. I did the squat lunge combo yesterday and felt the burn. But it's right after pulls and pike pushes, so I'd think it's a upper-body-day :-) By the way. The 4 minutes of shuttle runs might be the reason it's light on legs too? The planks afterwards are awesome. Just don't finish up with L-sits. Man that hurt (because of the pike push, I think).
  7. But the blogs are missing *sad face*
  8. Awesome pictures! What do you mean cold? I did no prior training or warm-up for that matter, so I guess it was cold in either case. Also I had no DOMS - yay! :-)
  9. I'm in too. Will see if I can get another run in today.
  10. Maybe a bit too late, but you should try not to run heel-to-toe. That has alleviated my running pains (and doms). Not that 5K presents that much stress on your joints.
  11. Going back to the drugs.. That's just sad. Next time take one step at a time. I started with liquid sugars. I started back in July '11, I'm not there yet, but I never felt the withdrawals. I know other have done it much faster. I did lose 12kg - going from 92 kg with a height of 184cm. So something's right in the Paleolithic solution.
  12. I'm curious about how the two are going to tackle it? Do either of you have a battle plan?
  13. You could start off by reading Robb's post about what he considers Paleo.. Then read the book :-)
  14. I'm currently reading Spark. There he has a case (or more) with ADHD where he suggest cardio exercises. Specifically ones where you need advanced coordination, alike there karate mentioned above. But "just" running half an hour should help as well. You can read the sample on Amazon, to get an idea. My son has something akin to it and it seems him taking up table tennis has helped him.
  15. Also, thanks for the inspiration. Your post got me off the couch and out on the road. I just ran the 13.1 in 2:18 - turns out that the 10:00/Mile is a nice pace for me too.
  16. I think you can be proud of your time despite your (aggressive) goal. Well done!
  17. From the ebook: The Barbell Battalion, that is.
  18. I agree with you, Loren. Just saying that it is mentioned in the Paleo literature. I eat smoked bacon every morning. When I don't have left overs, that is :-) The USDA guidelines are not to be trusted, I think that is pretty clear after what happened under McGovern.
  19. There is a Nerd Fitness group or two in there. Look us up there :-)
  20. I think Loren Cordain is against salt. Almost on page one he talks about how it causes hypertension and whatnot. He advices against bacon for that reason. I don't concur. Just saying :-)
  21. I see calisthenics in the title, so I'm in too. Beauty and strength - no sit-ups although they are included in the Wikipedia article :-) I do sprinting and hiking too, but that's besides the point.
  22. It's still there. The text is just missing. Point a bit above "My Profile" and "Log Out" - there's the link. I don't know where the text went, though.
