  1. Something is happening because I just got here today! Definitely need some NFers to ease the transition, but forewarning you all have a lot to live up to after the Boston meet-up
  2. Cline is very right--they are possible! I had a maternity rotation almost a year ago and (I didn't see, but was on the floor for it) a woman who had two previous c-sections delivered twins vaginally. I have to agree with the sad fact that doctors aren't always open to the idea but definitely try looking around for a good doctor because they definitely do exist Good luck! We'll be rooting for you!
  3. Welcome!! Glad to have you. Ask millions of questions, I certainly do, and someone always has the answers
  4. A few of my friends are in PT school now at Mass General and LOVE it. Also a few of my brothers' friends graduated from Boston schools (BC, BU, Mass gen, NEU? don't remember where) and are all doing fine. I was thinking of going to PT school but after nursing school I didn't feel like it
  5. FDA recommends it...same thing is RDA (recommended daily allowance). They recommend based on the MyPyramid theory or more recently MyPlate. I'm not sure what would happen if you followed it perfectly. Overall though the MyPlate method is VERY easy to teach and understand, specifically I've taught it to illiterate people (mostly who immigrated here) that would have issues with "healthy fats" vs "unhealthy fats" etc. EDIT: American government, not sure what the Canadian/Australian governments say
  6. My big, giant, ridiculous goal for fitness is to participate in the CrossFit Games within the next 10 years. I worked towards it today by running and doing bodyweight exercises. My big, giant, but I refuse to let it be ridiculous life goal is to never lose a patient who isn't ready to go. I say "not ready to go" because I've seen 10-year-olds on hospice who were accepting of their imminent death and 90-year-olds who died because of medical mistakes. I will not let that happen to my patients.
  7. Are your loans private or through the government? Wondering if it's something I'll experience soon...
  8. Glad you're okay! I'm going to have to agree with Matilda--definitely check with the doctor on diet/exercise restrictions. After most surgeries there are some, depending on the type of incision and procedure. Three weeks in the hospital is a long time so you'll need to slowly get back to where you were.
  9. Hey, for my ceremony last week I wore a simple dress. The gown hides most clothes completely Our school offered the Kaplan NCLEX course--not sure yet how much it helped, but it's supposed to be good. Other people took Hurst and said that works too... Are you BSN or ADN? (or diploma...do those exist anymore?)
  10. My membership at CrossFit ended May 1, and it's been rough these past two weeks. I definitely don't work out at the same intensity without a coach behind me and others cheering me on. I won't even be able to join one again until July 1-ish, after I move. During the last month I kept thinking I would miss it but it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but even though I just started in February I seriously do miss it.
  11. I'm in starting in June! I'm also a terrible event planner and I don't know the state at all yet...
  12. I'm struggling on the squat hold--not even sure how to go about getting a 10 full minutes! I always have to stand up after 4-5 minutes.
  13. Follow up from earlier: life goal #1 accomplished! Thesis done! Officially graduating!
  14. When I worked overnight I didn't have any issues since going paleo. I didn't get the typical 4am nausea I was used to.
  15. If I could live in sweats/yoga pants/a sports bra I would. I only decided to become a nurse because scrubs are comfortable. Kidding...but it's a perk
  16. So, first week was...interesting. I got some flu-like thing, but that was short lived with my recent plans to move to AZ. After the initial excitement about the trip ended I noticed I indeed was still sick, and still am. Fevery, coughy, fatigued, and more fancy words I should not use when I become an RN. Never got to running, never felt up to it. Been doing body weight stuff almost every day and decided I really want to be able to do pistol squats! Another stressful week coming up: road trip this weekend, back to Boston next Wednesday.
  17. I'm moving to Scottsdale at the end of the month, would love a meet-up--I don't know anyone down there!
  18. I think this summer I'm going to give in and go for a wax. A friend of mine goes every 4 weeks (I think) even during the winter, says it makes it that much better when summer comes.
  19. GOOD LUCK! Wish I could be there!! Have fun!
  20. Now that I've accepted the job in Arizona I have to find some way to move all of my stuff down there. I don't have a bed or anything big like that, so I'll just be taking my car and whatever fits inside. Not sure yet if I'll be making the trip alone or if someone will be joining me--my father might but that's contingent on personal issues and my boyfriend talked about possibly flying out to Boston to drive me down. Anyways, any suggestions on planning a long road trip like this, specifically if I'm going to be doing it alone?
  21. Pride and Prejudice: Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett Or....Gone with the Wind: Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler I've never seen the movies though, so these characters are only out of my imagination. I'll think of more
  22. Love this idea! I'm going to do a max push-up challenge and attempt pull-ups this week.
