  1. It's that time again, just checking in my progress! Tuesday King Kai's Training: I planned on working out 5 days a week, as stated in my original post, which would be 3 days body weight training and 2 days cardio. So the remaining 2 days would be used as rest. I decided to take on of those rest days today as I was feeling a little sore from the Super Saiyan workout. It was a nice surprise as I honestly didn't think I would. Must have been those push ups. No grade today. You change in your sleep: I got a good 8 hours in so that's fine. Grade=A Eat like a Saiyan: Did I ever! I was back volunteering at the school today so didn't have time to cook my eggs. I did have my porridge though. I hastily prepared a tuna salad with low fat mayo for lunch as well but it just wasn't doing anything for me. After a hard morning lunch came round and that tuna salad still wasn't tickling my taste buds so I ended up having a school meal instead. It was actually really nice. Vegetable chilli, whole grain rice with peas, and 3 small tortilla chips. Quite healthy. However there was also some potato fritters so I did have a couple, and also a small chocolate crispy cake type thing. Now I know not the healthiest. However I'm not going to deprive myself of food I love. I stated in my goals I will just stick to my calorie goals and not go over them. At home I prepared some tilapia with a bag of microwave golden rice. I'd been looking for tilapia for ages since UK supermarkets don't seem to stock it. I ordered some from muscle food and finally cooked some up. It was okay. Nothing too special but not what I was expecting. I'd heard it was a really mild tasting fish, but it tasted more fishier than cod (if that makes sense). This has been a constant battle for me. I want nothing more than to enjoy fish but unless it's battered my taste buds just flat out refuse to enjoy it. After this I think i'm done with fish. I enjoy prawns and tuna so if I do fancy seafood they will be my go to dishes. Grade=B Grades for the day A and B. New powerlevel is now 1028PL!! I'll post todays stats up later tonight or tomorrow
  2. Progress coming along nicely! Keep it up bud.
  3. Monday You change in your sleep +Had about 7 hours sleep but my legs felt a lot better after the last 2 cardio workouts. Grade = B King Kai's training +Hit Gregory with a hammer - Day one of my bodyweight workout. I was stuck as to what workout to follow. In the end after browsing some other members challenges on here I came across the site of Neila Rey who creates bodyweight routines. I saw one that I knew I would have to do, the Super Saiyan workout! Now I wouldn't say I was particularly weak. I enjoy going to the gym and lifting heavy weights, and I've done a few weeks of boot camp style workouts recently, so I wasn't dreading the workout. I put a DBZ vid on Youtube and off I went. 6 Push ups 4 Raised leg push ups 4 Wide grip push ups 60 Punches 40 Kicks 30 High Knees 10 Sit ups 10 Leg raises 10 sitting twists Level 1 was 3 sets. All exercises were to be completed one after the other with no rest period. It wasn't too taxing but I worked up a sweat. I also made it a little difficult by doing my push ups in a slow tempo to really work my muscles. I think tomorrow I will do level 2 which is 5 sets instead of 3. Grade = A Eat like a Saiyan + A massive improvement today. I stuck to good nutritious foods and the only bad food I had was about 3 crisps (chips) and 3 Haribo fizzy cola bottles. I started the day off with 2 whole eggs, 5 egg whites scrambled, then porridge with a handful of dried raisins and 2 tbsp almond butter. Then as a snack I had some grapes, then lunch was 2 chicken breasts and a large salad. I had a banana as a snack then for dinner I finished off with some tilapia and rice. I'm really pleased with myself today for sticking to my plan. Grade = A Finished the day with grades A, A, B. My powerlevel increased to 1023PL. Happy days!
  4. Keep it up 12 hour shifts can be a killer so just make up the time when you can. Something is always better than nothing!
  5. So after 2 days of my challenge I feel I am succeeding in 2 of my goals and failing a little bit in the other one. Saturday King Kai's Training +Catch Bubbles the monkey - Zombies, run completed. I found it a little difficult. I didn't have any proper running shoes and I felt like my shins were on fire afterwards. I proceeded to head into town later in the day and bought myself a nice pair of running shoes. With regards to zombies, run! here are my stats. I skipped mission 1 because i'd already ran it and knew the story from doing some of the Zombies 5k workout. Total Time: 0:36m Total Distance:4.77km Average pace per KM: 07:29 All in all it was a good run. At the moment I tend to walk during the story transmissions, jog when my music is playing, and increase my speed anytime a zombie chase occurs. This works for me at the moment but i'll hopefully be aiming to push myself further and increase my speeds or even run during the whole mission. With zombie chases on it's turning my workouts into a Fartlek training routine so it's nice to get some variety in my runs as the same pace gets a bit boring for me. My shins were hurting throughout mainly due to not having done any cardio for a few weeks but I pushed on, and the fact that the story sucks you in and encourages you to run faster during chases meant I was giving it all my all to escape the zoms that were steadily getting closer during the chases! Grade = A You change in your sleep +8 hours sleep = Check. Weekends are usually alright for me when catching my sleep. Grade = A Eat like a Saiyan +Aaaaand this is what my downfall is, has always been, and will continue to be. Food, glorious food. I love all kinds of food good and bad which is the problem. Today started off well. I had porridge made with water and honey for breakfast. During my shopping trip I had a small pasta box and fruit. I had promised my GF we would go for a meal on the night but everywhere we wanted to go was fully booked or had a huge waiting time for a table. So in the end we went where we normally do. The chinese buffet. Now I love chinese food. And buffets are a home away from home for me. But I don't go mad. I only ever manage 2 plates. I don't pile the food up ridiculous amounts either like some customers tend to do. My first plate consisted of a few spring rolls, prawn toast, and a helping of a few of the main dishes and some noodles. That was also how the 2nd playe looked too. Chinese buffets in the UK have a tendancy to charge for tap water, and I refused to pay money for a pint of water so had a diet soda instead. I'm not a big soda drinker either, I love an ice cold glass of water but I wasn't paying for it. Grade = C So yeah. All in all not a bad day. I worked hard on my run, I got a good 8 hours sleep, and my diet was generally good bar a few slip ups. It's a work in progress though so I'm not going to be too hard on myself. Final grades for the day A, A C which will give me a powerlevel increase of 7 out of 9. Not too bad for my first day. Powerlevel is now 1007PL Woop Woop! Sunday Went to bed around 1am on Saturday thanks to NBA 2k14. Woke up after 9 so first things first... You change in your sleep +8 hours sleep acheived = Grade A Eat like a Saiyan + A little better today on the eating front. I had my usual porridge and honey for breakfast, and snacked on 3 plums throughout the day. For lunch mum was making a traditional Sunday lunch. I took it upon myself to measure out the amount of mashed potato I had, and also made sure to have plenty of turkey for protein. I stocked up on veg and didnt bother with any yorkshire puddings. For tea (or dinner) I had home made burritos using extra lean minced beef, whole wheat tortilla wraps, and some low fat refried beans. Sadly some crisps and a chocolate bar slipped in as well. Grade B King Kai's Training +Catch Bubbles the monkey - 3rd mission from Zombies, run complete. My shins were hurting but I wanted to try out my new running shoes so I laced up and started the mission. If anything I felt that today was little slower than Saturdays run. However when I checked my stats after the mission ended I had a nice surprise. Total Time: 0:33m!!!!!!! Total Distance: 4.77km Average pace ker km: 07:00!!!!!! 3mins quicker than yesterday! Now I don't think it was due to my new shoes that shaved off the minutes but they helped a bit. Once my usual route after running to the end of my route I walk a short distance before heading back the way i came. This time instead of walking I jogged lightly which obviously helped. And I happened to get a zombie chase warning on the hardest part of my route. This part of the route is uphill and on loose gravel which is almost like sand. It tires you out quickly and most of the time I can't run it. However after walking for a little bit during the story transmission I sped up to a light jog on the uphill section, knowing I wouldn't last. And that's when I heard it. Zombies 100m. I actually thought to myself "not now, please not now" I upped my pace as best I could. My legs were screaming for me to stop and my lungs were barely taking in oxygen. Zombies 80m. I wasn't going quick enough. So engrossed am I in the story I at one point thought I should stop and just walk it. But then I felt like I couldn't let the town of Abel down so I pushed on. 2 steps from hell blasting through my ear phones helped me muster the last bit of energy I had to increase my speed and as the ground levelled out I heard the magic words "zombies evaded". The music was still playing which is usually when I jog. But I had nothing left in the tank. I started walking and the next transmission was the last one for the mission. It continued on with the radio so once I had caught my breath back I started jogging again, albeit slowly, back home. Another day, another solid effort. I also got my average pace per km down too so over all i'm over the moon. Grade = A and a fully deserved one too! Finished the day with grades A, A, B so thats a total of 8 out of 9. Brings my powerlevel up to 1015PL! I'm going to be following a diet plan from the Physiques of Greatness youtube channel. I've watched thier vids for a while now and they give sound advice. It involves carbs and I know a lot of people are all about paleo on here but right now it's not something I feel I could do yet. I may start a battle log for my diet and workouts but that would updating 2 topics so most likely keep this challenge as a diary for the next 6 weeks at least.
  6. Thanks I'll make sure to follow your challenge and journey too! Zombie chases are fun, although at the time I find myself thinking "not now, please not now" when my legs are almost giving out. Those zoms are so inconsiderate!
  7. Hi everyone, Thought i'd jump in with my 6 week challenge. I know it's past the start date but it's better late than never! Sex: Male Age: 28 Weight: 219lbs Height: 6'2" ::Main Quest – The Journey Begins:: +Lose weight to get rid of fat, before starting on a muscle building workout. Also attending the year 11 prom with the other teachers in July and would like to look and feel better about myself than I currently do. ::King Kai's Training:: +Catch Bubbles the monkey = 2 x a week, cardio training (I'm currently enjoying Zombies, Run so will continue with that. If I enable zombies chases as well that's going to help with some variety of speeds too.) +Hit Gregory with a hammer = 3 x a week, resistence training (body weight circuits such as burpees, sit ups, press ups, high knees etc.) ::Saiyan Eating:: +Calculate a calorific defecit to encourage weight loss. I want to eventually be eating “clean†for most of the week, however if I do have some food that isn't deemed nutritious I will still stick to my calorie limits. I will also keep a food diary to track what i'm eating and help me identify trends where I might normally begin to snack on junk food. ::You Change In Your Sleep:: +Ensure I get 8 hours of quality sleep a night, regardless of what I am doing at home when bed time arrives. I may download a sleep app to monitor this too. ::Life Quest – Chi Chi's Scholar Training:: +I want to be an art teacher in secondary school, it's something i've recently discovered that I would love to do as a career. To achieve this, here are the main bullet points for what I need to do. +Apply to college for GCSE certificates in Maths and English +Continue to work on my artists portfolio and students work +Keep volunteering at my old school to gain more experience +Apply for my teacher training. As you may have guessed, I'm a big DBZ fan. I've based my challenge on the world of DBZ as I feel it will help keep me motivated and on track, and to me it's fun. For grading I'll still use the normal A-F but I'm going to use a number system as well. The numbers are purely for fun and games on my part and will be used to calculate my increasing powerlevel the better I do in my challenge. A=3, B=2, C=1, D=1, E=1, F=0 So for example. On Monday I put maximum effot into my goals and grade myself two A's and a B. That would mean my powerlevel will increase by 8 for the day. However on Tuesday I may only grade myself a D, E, and F. My powerlevel would only increase by 2 due to the poor effort I put into my training. I'll calculate my power level on a weekly basis. I'm also going to set myself little fantasy goals to work towards. So as it's my first challenge I don't feel like I'm anywhere near the level of a Super Saiyan. However due to training with King Kai I may be able to learn the Kaioken technique. I'll measure this every 2 weeks since there are varying stages to this transformation and I could potentially achieve Kaioken x6 by the end of my challenge Starting powerlevel = 1000pl Kaioken x2 = powerlevel must be at least 1100pl Kaioken x4 = powerlevel must be at least 1220pl Kaioken x6 = powerlevel must be at least 1330pl A long post I know but i'm a creative person and I like to get fully immersed in what i'm doing
  8. Hi there! Been browsing this site and forum for a while now and finally decided to join the fun A little background info: I'm Lee, 28yr, and currently reside in the UK! I'm currently weighing in at 219lbs, and standing at about 6'2". I love the gym, I love lifting weights, and I love eating better. The only problem is this will last a couple of weeks before I fall off the wagon and end up slipping back into my old habits of late nights, eating junk, and not bothering with the gym at all. I'm at a constant battle with myself between losing this "beer" belly thats slowly built up around my mid-section and the urge to have a superhero physique. I'd describe myself as skinny fat. My fat is basically all in my mid section and chin, and I hate it. And I know it's difficult to lose fat whilst building muscle. I would probably say I'm impatient even though I know results take time and there is no quick fix. But I'm slowly working more towards my goals and I hope by joining this great community will help me I just want to get involved with like minded people who share common interests with me, and also feel as part of a team of fit-nerds, all aiming and fighting to achieve their goals whilst supporting their friends! That's just a short intro to my goals, hope to get to know you all in the future! SSJGoku/Lee
