  1. Yeah totally worth picking up paddle boarding if you live near a large lake or near the sea, as you get used to the balance you can increase intensity with faster runs. Observation one of trying full paleo, definitely limiting on social activities as most places in San Antonio are carb heavy. Also one question a lot of people tout almond butter but is cashew butter as healthy or inferior than almond butter?
  2. Hello NF community! Really exited about joining the community and getting accountability. I suck at introductions so here we go: While growing up I was into surfing (daily almost) and soccer so when I graduated high school I weighed 117 at a height of 5'8" so I was thin as a pole and had great endurance. College did it's thing and I got to 130lbs give or take as I was still pretty active with surfing and walking tons as I took the bus to my classes. Things changed when I went to Medical school rather severely the lack of sleep, drinking 2Lt coca colas too stay awake and whole pizzas lead to a size 36 waist from a 28, 160 lbs and horrible health and that was only on my first year! Come second year I was diagnosed with a tumor of the spine that kept me out for recovery for about 6 months and pretty much shot my self esteem in general about my health. This unfortunately is a great propagating engine (seriously if they could bottle poor self esteem as an energy source we would have the ultimate renewable energy in my experience). I survived all this and residency and have been practicing for 2 years now, For at least the past 4 years I have been trying to keep my weight between 165 to 175lbs did have a pretty good run where I was doing consistent exercise where I got to 150 lbs. However, that stopped. This January though I got to the point where my weight got to 192 lbs which shocked me, but also increased my determination to get healthy since coronary artery disease, and diabetes are so prominent in my family. I have been at it since February doing heavy cardio and changing my diet and am now at 170lbs but really want to get to 148-150lbs. My goal is to not only become healthy and lower my risk of coronoary artery disease and diabetes, but to have over all a healthy body that is suited for all around sports. I currently am doing the body weight work out 3 times weekly and cardio 5 times weekly, do go to a local gym for the cardio (as I messed up my shins when I started cardio with running without taking it easy, figured my muscles would be ready for the work out lol). Every 2 weeks I try to go on my time off to paddle board on Austin lake and if I visit my best friend in Florida paddle board as much as I can (definitely love beach sports but being land locked in San Antonio is not the best for water sports lol). Again good to join the community and look forward to future challenges.
