  1. So. It has now been a long time since I've been seen on this site. Sorry for the wait, and I can't promise I'll be back regularly. Yet. College is a blast, and tough. So I've been busy studying and taking care of business. I would like to say that so far I have gained weight during my freshmen semester. But I've LOST FAT. Which is awesome. I've been watching what I eat, running around campus instead of driving, and just generally trying to stay in shape. So far, so good. I've missed you guys lately, you're such a good example. So thanks for sticking around, and giving me some goals to strive for.
  2. And here I was thinking that marching band kids knew how to balance. That's seriously impressive.
  3. I went to visit my grandparents one year during Christmas-time, and they live in Canada. It was like -20 with 7 or 8 inches of wet, packing snow. Then without warning, the electricity and running water went out. That was a fun weekend. You think you know cold till it's negative with no heating. Sooooo many jackets were worn.
  4. Lol, fair enough, I'd still take cold any day, I can breath easier when it's cold.
  5. I dunno about that, when the asphalt starts to melt into the bottom of your shoes you may change your tune. On top of that, it's dry heat, so it doesn't matter what you do, if you're outside, you feel like a baked potato.
  6. Yeah, it's ridiculously quiet here. you still can't walk anywhere, but it's peaceful. I just don't really have the endurance to go outside. (Due to round the year 90+ temps.) so i was just wondering, thanks for the advice!
  7. So out of curiosity, how do any of you guys practice free running, or climbing, etc? I live in a tiny rural town in literally the middle of nowhere. The college that I will begin attending in two days will have more students on campus than there are people in my hometown. We don't really have anything in terms of a gym that has a rock wall, and I've no clue what to expect in college. Just wanting some unique ideas for a workout to mix it up if I start straying off the path due to boredom. (I have a serious attention span problem.)TIA!
  8. By the way, good word choice. Epitome is a great word that is rarely used anymore. Also: found a good song to work out to. Hero by Pegboard Nerds
  9. Thank you. I've been able to talk my way out of bad situations before, but I'll now be dealing with people who may be slightly (very) inebriated. So that may not go as well.
  10. That's a good point, so thank you to both of you! For the most part (due to my asthma) I'd like to be able to run a mile without having problems breathing, be able to lift at least my own weight on a benchpress, and box well enough that i'll be able to protect myself in the event that I anger someone enough that they start it. (A common possibility, as I tend to have a big mouth) Thanks for the support, I used to hate the idea of working out but lately I've been feeling more awake and happier, so this is a good thing for me!
  11. So. It's time to ask for help. I am about to be enrolled in my first year of college. Yikes. That's a scary thought, but at the same time it's a chance to get out of my comfort zone. So I took on the challenge here ---> http://goo.gl/f1ZEfv -To try and strengthen what muscle I already have (not much, mostly from marching band, lol), and build on top of it instead of gaining extra bad weight. So now I've realized that I'm in over my head on workouts. Currently my workout consists of push-ups, sit-ups (when I can), walking, jumping rope (ouch), and boxing. That's as far as I know, and I've found myself wondering if I should add something in or take something out. That's why I've come to you guys, as you most likely know far more than me. Anything from new exercises to tips on the ones I've currently got would be great, so thanks in advance!
  12. It's actually been great! I've worked out four times this week, almost entirely cut sodas out of my diet, started eating healthier, and I've been feeling great. All is well with the freshmen so far. Now to see how this works once i get to college in a couple weeks.
  13. Hey guys, starting up on the site for the second time, I was on it briefly for a time last year, then got caught up in school, now I'm using this as a basis to get into a good shape, and stay that way, or get better. Wish me luck, and it's good to don the shadows with pride, they're my favorite.
  14. My goal for this one is to survive college without gaining weight that isn't good for me. If it's muscle weight, fine, but I'd rather not have more of a gut when I leave. Goal: Gain a good workout routine and use it to get into a better shape than I am currently. 3 Mini-Goals: 1) Box, Run, Body weight lifting at least 3 times a week, for at least an hour. 2) Get down to one soda a day or less. 3) On the 4 days a week that I'm not working out, use the time for studying. Relax-time after workouts/studying: Xbox Wish me lot's of LUCK!
  15. This, this has just made my day. Thanks for all the support guys! It's helping a lot, just a question, How do you guys have the status bars under your signature?
