Thanks so much for the support and encouragement. Much needed. I'll be going back to the dojo this week with renewed spirit.

So I have literally not been to my dojo or practiced aikido in almost 3 months. I have been wanting to go back so badly, but for some reason I feel weird about going back. Don't get me wrong: I love the art and the people that I practice/study with. But for some reason I can't shake the feeling that it will be awkward to go back after such a long time off. I think the biggest thing is, that while I tend to be outgoing, I'm very shy and somewhat socially awkward. Any thoughts/advice? Thanks.

Hello Everyone! Between illness and person/work obligations it has been a trying last two weeks. Thankfully, I'm feeling back to 100% and can't wait to hit the gym before work tomorrow! I had my physical assessment for work on Friday, and thankfully I've improved overall and found myself to be somewhere around the middle of the pack. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I'll find out if I did well enough to get the additional training I need to make a bit more money and advance my career. Looking forward to this next week!

Unfortunately I'm not sure when my assessment will be, and they won't bother to take it into consideration, which sucks. Fortunately if I don't do well it won't be the end of the world, just a setback. I'm trying my advanced training at work to move to a better position and the only thing holding me back is the physical part.

Thanks everyone... I'm going to keep focused and simply do what I'm able to until I'm back to where I need to be. Thanks again!

Thanks for all the support. It's reassuring and makes me thankful that I've have chosen to use this platform to get healthy. Week two has been rough. I've been sick as a dog these last 4 days (caught a bad cold from someone at work). I'm getting checked out by the dr today, but my workout plan has been nil. I have managed to for a number of short walks around the house when I'm not in the bed, and I'm trying to stay on point with my diet so I do no harm while I'm out of commission. Hopefully a few days on antibiotics will get me back on track. I have a physical assessment coming up at work that I've been trying to prepare for, so I really need to get back to it. Thanks again for all the support and encouragement. You guys are awesome! Dovah

awesome... even something as simple as a Tenkan or Irimi Tenkan is pivotal in executing so many techniques... I'll be sure to pay extra attention during my practice this week.

Thanks, that's a good way to look at it... i need to learn to start thinking more positively.

So this week was pretty much a bust. Granted things were kinda hectic at work and at home, but there was still some laziness on my part. I need to redouble my efforts this week and get my self back on track. Thankfully my diet didn't really suffer, as I was able to remain on track... but exercise was not were it needed to be. I was able to do some lifting and jogging, but that was it. Once more into the breach, dear friends. dovah

I have to agree completely... diet is key. For the last few weeks I have been sporadic with my exercising, but have been diligent with my diet (NF form of Paleo) and I have lost nearly 15lbs.

decent first day of the challenge. while I wasn't able to make it to aikido, I did manage to get the gym turn run/walk on the track... didn't really keep track of the distance, at this point I'm more interested in seeing how long I can run without having to slow to a walk, which I noticing is getting better. I've also found great success switching to the Vibram 5 Finger shoes... I noticed the difference immediately. It was as if all of a sudden I was running more efficiently and my stamina was remarkably improved... Though it isn't an expressed goal of this challenge, I would like to one day be a decent runner. Perhaps I count that as my "do something you suck at" challenge Steve gave us earlier. Anywho, just a quick update... looking forward to incorporating the side quest tomorrow (didn't see it posted until I got home). I hope everyone is off to a great start! Dovahkiin
