  1. Yesterday was a success. I ate 1377 calories, drank over 64 ounces of water, tracked my food, walked for 30 mins at 3.1 mph on the treadmill and did squats, lunges and wall pushups. Today is going good so far. I parked really far away at work and have been taking the stairs to sneak in some extra fitness. I just splurged on a 12 oz nonfat nowhip pumpkin spice latte. 200 calories, but delicious. I've got all my water in for the day and I am sitting at 926 calories with dinner left to go (grilled chicken, green beans and a garden salad). I'm going to get my treadmill time in right after work so I can go to bed early.
  2. Exactly. I have decided that if I make the right choices every day, good things will happen. I will lose weight, but I don't want to get too focused on what I think the scale should do. I tend to get insanely discouraged if I don't lose 2 lbs per week or whatever goal like that I've set, so I am focusing on the things I will need to do to make the scale move... and not the actual number I think should be there. More importantly, by sticking to my goals I should see an improvement in how I feel.
  3. Here are my goals for the challenge beginning 9/24/12 Goals: 1. Log calories and food in food journal every day 2. Walk 30 minutes on the treadmill at a minimum of 3.0 mph every day 3. Drink 64 ounces of water every day 4. Eat between 1200-1500 calories every day 5. Weigh in every Sunday 6. Strength train three times per week Beginning Stats 1. Height 5'9" 2. Weight 254.4 3. Waist circumference 49" I will achieve my goals by using the app on my phone to log my calories every day. I will walk every evening at 8pm. I will make a point to drink water throughout the day by setting an alarm on my phone morning, noon and night. By using the app on my phone, I will be able to keep track of my calories and use that tool to stay within the range I have set for myself. I will set an alarm on my phone to weigh in every Sunday. I will also set an alarm on my phone to do bodyweight strength training eexercises every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Right now I am the heaviest and most sedentary I have ever been in my life. Walking up one flight of stairs makes me winded. I am having gallbladder attacks from my horrible diet. I feel tired, sad and physically ill most of the time. This isn't what I want for my life, but I have been too depressed to make any changes... until I got my wedding photos back. I look like Jabba the Hutt in a wedding dress. It was the wake-up call I needed. I am going to use this six-week challenge as a springboard to making healthy habits a part of my daily life.
  4. Guster's latest album "Easy Wonderful" has been on repeat for me lately. They're my fave band.
  5. Ugh. Jump rope. /horrifying elementary school flashbacks I'm probably the clumsiest person on the face of the earth, so if you don't hear from me... its because I've tangled myself up in the jump rope and can't escape!!
  6. Having a very, VERY curvaceous upper half (38F), I know that supportive sports bras are hard to find. The best one I have found is called the Enell sports bra. Its pricey and getting into it makes me feel murderous, but once its on I can run, jump, bounce, whatever without hurting my girl parts or attracting gawkers.
  7. Game of Thrones by george R. R. Martin The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Steig Larsson
  8. You tried, though! That's the most important thing! Congrats on your attempt! /lavishes with praise
  9. I vote running our squad challenges Monday - Sunday as that is what I am considering my "week" timespan.
  10. Lake Icaria just north of Corning, Iowa. Its in the southwest part of the state. Adams county.
  11. Today I am going boating with my Mom & Dad at a lake in Iowa. Before I leave, I am preparing all my paleo foods. I'm currently cooking a package of bacon and making a paleo scramble with sausage, eggs, anaheim peppers, onion and garlic. I've got water to drink, so I'm ready to boat all day. Then when boating is over, I know what I'm doing for exercise. Good luck to everyone today!!!
  12. When I read this, I heard the music in my head and saw the rainbow. Now I can't stop giggling in my cubicle. Hehehe.
  13. Yay I love this squad! This is exactly what I was looking for. I couldn't work out last night as I think I've injured myself. I worked really hard on Wednesday night doing body weight exercises and I am so sore I can barely move. Its excruciating. Until I have recovered, I am going to focus on making sure my diet is super clean and as Paleo as possible. I guess I need to cut it down to 1 circuit of body weight exercises until I build up my strength. Apparently 2 circuits is crippling.
  14. Hi. I'm Steph. I weigh 231 and I want to weigh 169lbs. I got here by not exercising and developing a horrible food addiction over the past 12 years. I've given myself high blood pressure, high cholesterol, severe depression and PCOS by choosing to live my life this way. I'm ready to change. This behavior started as a way to hide after being raped at 16. I hid myself by becoming fat. By being fat, I became invisible. But I hate being invisible and I hate the way I look makes me feel. I'm wildly intelligent, funny and compassionate. I'm doing the world a disservice by being scared and hiding behind my fat and drugging myself with food. One thing I love about myself? My hilarious, brilliant brain. One thing I want to improve? I want to be able to do pushups! My super power? Hypnosis via dazzling people.
  15. No, this is my cat: He's a jerk, but I love him.
