  1. This gif is making me smile today!
  2. I like the idea of incorporating Pokemon Go into your challenge. I should get back to walking outside during the work day and trying to level up with that.
  3. Yeah, I went to bed last night and thought I would feel better when I woke up, but not so much. Just trying to take it one step at a time. Hang in there! *** Woke up and exercised this morning, but need to run. . . not sure when I'll fit that in. Or at least get on the bike or hop in the pool. Reading is slow going, I've gotten sucked into The Clone Wars on netflix as a coping mechanism at night.
  4. Hello Friends. I will admit to doing no exercise yesterday or today. Yesterday I was running around and today I'm just in sickened shock and haven't eaten enough to workout (I would just get light-headed). Anyway, I'm having a bit of a rough time because of the election of Trump. I really just wish I was back at Camp so that I could hug everyone.
  5. I'm a queer/dyke (despise the word "lesbian") married to another woman and we are doing our best to raise two respectful, loving, healthy boys!
  6. Thanks! I think it will get me through these next couple of tough weeks. Yes, sanity is key at this point. I think my anxiety is flaring up because of the election. Ugh. In addition to my office. *** Ok, I've kept up with the Hero's Journey bodyweight stuff which has been great. I'd like to work on my diet, but I haven't made that a "strict" goal right now. First, I'd like to get into an exercise routine. Even if I keep exercising while I'm away, I find it hard to get back into the groove once I'm home. I was feeling wicked anxious this morning so went for a quick run. I'm still run/walking but I don't care. I'm out there and feeling good. Generally once I start exercising my diet falls into place. I did some major comic book reading today - spent all morning catching up with Wonder Woman. Quite enjoyable! Then I went to see Dr. Strange with a friend; picked up my oldest son from a birthday party, took him home and played video games with him - after he read to me. He was doing so well!!! I'm worried because it seems he not where his teacher wants him to be, but I've already seen such improvement since the beginning of the school year. Anyway, I'm tired. It's Sunday night. This week is going to be crazy.
  7. Hello my fellow Rangers! Well, I had grand plans of setting up this thread this past weekend when I returned from a trip and didn't get there. Then the week started and here we are! I have no grand, over-arching quest or goal right now. Mainly because I'm so incredibly overwhelmed with work; so overwhelmed that I can't seem to find the time to apply to other jobs! Ugh. So, perhaps my over-arching quest is to keep my sanity. Mission 1: Stick with Hero's Journey bodyweight training. Mission 2: Run twice a week (not much, but I'm working on being gentle with myself). Or general cardio - ideally I'd like to get to the pool. Mission 3: Get caught up on all my comics! Comics waiting to be read (and this will be updated once I get home): Aquaman Rebirth #8 Aquaman Rebirth #9 Green Arrow Rebirth #1 Green Arrow Rebirth #2 Green Arrow Rebirth #3 Green Arrow Rebirth #4 Green Arrow Rebirth #5 Green Arrow Rebirth #6 Green Arrow Rebirth #7 Green Arrow Rebirth #8 Green Arrow Rebirth #9 Wonder Woman Rebirth #5 Wonder Woman Rebirth #6 Wonder Woman Rebirth #7 Wonder Woman Rebirth #8 Wonder Woman Rebirth #9 The Killing Joke The Man Without Fear Magnus Chase and the Hammer of Thor (ok, not a comic, but I would like to finish it). Spell or Highwater (ok, another book, but it's nerdy, listening to it) Simple, nothing earth-shattering. . .
  8. YUMMMMM!! I would take that recipe! (or you could just send me a care-package).
  9. Hey Foxx - THANK YOU!! I needed a serious pick-me-up today. I didn't get up early to do my workout, but I've already told my wife that I want to workout when I get home. I'm a little concerned about traveling starting tomorrow. I know I shouldn't be, especially because the Darebee workouts are all bodyweight. I'm just starting to really get down on myself that I'm not seeing any changes with my body and that it tends go up and down (my body image). So yeah, thank you!
  10. Yeah. . . I finally bit the bullet and took the pictures. Now I need to put them a separate folder so I know where to find them rather than constantly scrolling! Me too! I got my vibrams last week and have been doing yardwork in them. At least once a week I'm wearing my merrell's with vibram soles to the office. My problem with the squats is that I just can't get that low. I get pain right above my knee when doing squats which can last throughout the day. I think I need to do a bunch more of those hip exercises and flexibility. Feeling pretty good even though I completely dropped all my goals. I won't level up, but I'm just trying for consistency which is working so far. Leg is more-or-less pretty much healed. Just a tiny scab right now. The large scab fell off last week and was that gross in that kinda cool and fascinating way. *** Ok, even though I've completely dropped the ball on my goals, I'm feeling pretty good physically. Mentally has been a challenge because sh** is hitting the proverbial fan at my Firm and I'm worried about the financial viability of the Firm. So yeah. In other news, my guild on Habitica is going to start doing the Darebee Hero's Journey workout-quest line and one of my amazing guildmates created a fantastic challenge for it. I'm also starting to run and working on doing that every other day or every 3rd day at the most. Eating has been very up and down.
  11. THANKS!! I'm pretty excited about my Epic Quest, too! Thanks! Yeah, after re-looking at the goals for this challenge, I might have to break them down even further. Turns out my leg is infected from a nasty fall I took trying out parkour at Camp. Oh well. That's going to make hitting my step goals difficult, at least for this first week. Also, painting *all* the cabinet doors might be a bit ambitious, but we'll see how far I can get. Monday Wrap: No hip mobility. Didn't hit my step goal (which I might lower for this week based on aforementioned infection). Staying at the apartment (boarding school) so unable to paint cabinet doors which are at the house. No reading because my wife forgot to grab my book when she went to the house yesterday. In other news, my wife made me amazing salads for lunch this week and even bought me a bag of pre-peeled hard-boiled eggs from Trader Joe's! I'm so lucky she's supportive! Also, trying to tell myself that the number on a scale is just a number. I really should try taking pictures and measurements. I just don't like looking at the pictures though. . .
  12. Hello Nerds! So, I realize I peetered out of the last challenge. I strained the quad tendon on each of my legs so had to really take it easy. Not fun. I just got back from CAMP NF!! And now I'm dealing with Re-entry which is never easy. So I'm going to keep it simple! Hip Mobility: I want to work on my hip mobility at least 3x's a week. Step Goal: Meet my step goal every day. House Goal: Paint the cabinet doors. Wisdom Goal: Really get a good jump (200-300 pages) on my FDR biography for my Epic Quest. No fancy stuff this time. . . just trying to get back into the swing of things.
  13. The distance tracking on Pokemon Go isn't accurate at all! I would trust the maps mileage. Good for you for getting out there! I love getting new running shoes!

  15. I'm not gonna lie - I kicked some serious Aquabeast a$$ yesterday! Met all of my goal - I even meditated!!! Finished a book for a bonus +3! A total damage blast of 7.25 with no health gained by the beast!
  16. Ok, so I had a great weekend, but only decent as far as the battle with Aquabeast goes. Failed to meditate at all. No books finished. But I stayed away from caffeine and practice the guitar! Yay! Bonuses! (Also went over the step goal!).
  17. ^^^^^ That! Still having trouble with meditating. I've told myself that even 5 minutes is a good way to start, but I just can't get myself to do it and I'm not sure why. . . . **** Thursday was an odd day. I got my lifting in and I hydrated, but I didn't make my step-goal nor did I meditate. HOWEVER! I did read 1 comic and finished another book so that's an additional 6 bonus points! I also did not have any caffeine so that's an additional .25. This morning, I took another long walk with Harrison which also helped me to meet my step goal. I'm off to good a start with hydration. . . and yeah, meditation. . . . So how's the Beast looking as I head into the weekend. . . Aquamom v. Aquabeast
  18. Quick update: Yesterday resulted in a net of 2 damage being dealt to Aquabeast. My weakness is clearly meditation. In order to succeed at vanquishing the 'Beast, I need to start doing this! Also, I'm learning the guitar and in an attempt to incentivize practicing, an extra 1 pt of damage will be dealt for each 10 minutes of practice.
  19. Let's see where did I leave off. . . .oh yeah, so I've explained the things I must do to defeat the Aquabeast. For every day I complete an item on the list, one damage is dealt to the beast, but if I miss one item, the beast gains 2 health back. I will earn bonuses: .25 pts of extra damage for every 1,000 steps over goal .25 pts of extra damage for every day with no caffeine (I've been really bad about this one lately) 3 pts of damage every time I finish a book during the challenge (including comic books). Ok, Aquabeast has damage of 75 (and yes, he can gain extra health over 75). . . Here we go! Sunday: Reached step goal (1 pt.); finished Wonder Woman Rebirth #3 (3pts); Rest day (1 pt.). Aquabeast gained 4 health. Monday: Lifted (1 pt); completely hydrated (1 pt). Aquabeast gained 4 health. Tuesday (in progress): Cardio (walked puppy - 1 pt); Step Goal (1 pt);
  20. So. . .the last 10 days have been crazy. Been working long hours because of a bank audit, not eating well, barely getting enough water. The bad habits, the things Aquabeast feeds on, started to creep back. In order to defeat this consistency will be key. 1. Stick to schedule. (Lift, cardio (includes long walk with puppy), rest, wash, rinse, repeat). 2. Drink enough water each day. 3. Reach step goal each day. 4. Meditate at least 5 minutes every day. (Ok, hard to see the whole post on my phone so I'll finish the update later today.) Sent from my SM-N930P using Tapatalk
  21. Yes, working on reps is more progress indeed! Hoping to hit it on tomorrow's workout. *** THE DELUGE HAS BEEN DEFEATED!!! Yay! Time to level up!
  22. Hello Fellow Rangers! Just sticking this here as a bookmark. I feel like my last challenge was good but there's plenty of room to build on!
  23. Alright, got my lifting in last night! Finally, felt comfortable adding weigh to the bar for my squats (been working on getting my form down). Deadlift is up to 125 lbs and OHP is at 60 lbs. Although I only got 4 reps in on my last 2 sets. Read a good amount in Scoundrels too. Staying strong for the end!
  24. Thank you so much for the support. I know I could spend more time on the fora, but my work has been absolutely insane and by the time my kids are in bed, I want to go to bed! Wolf - No worries! I've missed yours too. You're going to Camp right? Thanks for the vote of confidence! *** Ok, so I didn't lift this morning because I had a terrible night's sleep which led to me feeling dizzying this morning. So I'm leaving work early and going to lift in the beastly grossness that is the current weather (like 90 degrees + 80% humidity). I also need to read tonight, although I did play Star Wars with boy last night. Yard work is also a must this weekend. Saturday morning - before I go try to get a new tattoo!
