  1. Oh, I did, Super Sam. I went on two rides today. So even though I'm not going out this instant, I hope I'm not grounded. haha Butternut, I'm a walking commuter when I'm working here in my town. I work in home support as a home health caregiver, &, while I do have to drive to one client (it's a 20 minute drive to his parents' house), I do walk here in town as much as possible. I hope that when you put air in your tires, you're over our cold & feeling much better. I'm getting used to drinking more water again, & I know I'm doing much better for it.
  2. For a while I've been an email subscriber to the Tapp Brothers' Parkour training, but I've not done much about it. Well, they have a new 30 day challenge starting up next week, & I'm going to take advantage of that & use that for the upcoming challenge starting here very soon. I'll keep on walking to & from work when I work here in my town (that's 20 minutes one way), & go for bike rides at least three or four days a week. With all this, my fitness is in place. I've basically given up pop, but I'll make that an official thing starting for this challenge. I have a goal to increase my water intake to at least two litres a day because that works for me, but I've been sliding with my water intake in the past months. I need more, & I've been slowly upping this. Not nearly as much as I should be drinking, though. I'm also going to cut out junk food at least six days a week, & if I go the whole four weeks without it, even better! But we shall see. It's stuff that should be a treat - not an every day thing. A few months ago, my doctor warned me that if I don't lower my blood pressure, I'll be at an increased risk of heart attacks or stroke. I DON'T want either, & so I'm doing something about it.
  3. Thanks so much for your encouragement, Butternut, & for that name - I'll check online.
  4. After work today, I'll come here to see what I can come up with the next challenge. I'm working on getting prepared for a writing event starting this Friday (1 April), but I want to set up the next challenge so that it works well for me & so that I don't get discouraged too easily, which happens when I set up goals that are way too extreme for me - which often happens. Well, they're not too extreme if I push myself harder than I do, but then I get discouraged the first time I fail, & then I give up. I need to work on getting past that fear of failure or of success (which seem to go together sometimes) & to just keep on, no matter how hard I fall on my face at times. That's part of life, & I need to just get up & keep going, as I do when I ride my bike. Not that I fall off of that often, but it has happened, & I just got back up & kept going - that's what I need to do in life. Cycling's my favourite form of exercise, followed closely by hiking & swimming, & I want to get back to the place where my username suits me again. So this afternoon, as long as the weather stays good (which it's supposed to), I'm going for a bike ride after work. It won't be long since it's been a long time since I've been on my bike, but at least I'll get out on my bike & go for a ride. That's the first step, & a journey has to start with that first step. So, yeah! I'm looking forward to that bike ride - it's been far too long!!

  6. Sounds really good!! Welcome here. I was trying to get rid of the quote thing, but I can't figure out how. I'm not quoting anything. Sorry for it.
  7. Thanks, Spezzy. It's been quite a while since I've done any NF challenges. I'll definitely be joining the next one.
  8. Did things change here on NF? When I was last here regularly, things were different than they seem to be now. I was getting notifications about things, but then they suddenly stopped. Hm!!

  9. Hi, all!! For some reason, I couldn't log on to NF at all, & I wasn't receiving any notification emails. So very strange! I'm glad to be back, & it's Day 77 without any Coca~Cola at all. Yay!! :D

    1. Valerius

      Valerius

      That's awesome!!!!!

      Way to go!

  10. Hi, Rys! Welcome!! Hi, everyone! I'm so sorry that I've not been here at all - I wasn't able to sign into NF at all for quite a while, & I also haven't been receiving any notification emails from here. Very strange! Suddenly it's all resolved, though, & now I'm here again. I'm happy about that! How are all of you? I'm fine - getting outside every single day, & today's Day 77 without any Coca~Cola. Yay!!
  11. Day 77 for me without Coca~Cola!! Yay!! I'm not cutting out all pop, but Coke I am since it's by far the hardest thing for me. There've been a few times that I've really missed it, especially seeing the commercials of the name bottles they have out again now, but, overall, I don't miss it. It's not easy for me, though, that's for sure, & I'm very happy to not have it as part of my diet any longer. Yay!!
  12. Hi, Terinatum! Thanks for your last comment here. Sorry I've not been here for quite a while - I couldn't log in here to NF. I have no idea why, but it was suddenly resolved, & here I am again. It was most frustrating! I also wasn't receiving any emails notifying me of any of the things to which I'd followed. They just suddenly stopped coming one day, although I was receiving general emails from NF. Very, very strange! So, I'm doing quite well - today's Day 77 of no Coke. Yay! Last weekend, I was super active. Kayaking, hiking up & down a steep hill several times. Just being outside almost all the time. It was wonderful! Since then, I've been outside almost every day, whether walking or just being outside. I spent time cleaning my car yesterday, which is active. haha Anyway, I'm glad that I could get back in here to NF - I've missed it!!
  13. I just started at the beginning of the current 6-week challenge.
  14. So cool, jodpod!! My goal is actually for a pull up, but I'm shooting for a chin up first since that's easier than a pull up. Let's cheer each other one!!
  15. Hi, Terinatum! Sorry for not updating during the week. It's been a strange week for me. But, yes, all is well. Things are actually going better than I'd planned. Still no Coca~Cola & I've been excersising more every day than I'd planned. Body weight exercises have become a part of my daily life, although I will take a break tomorrow.
  16. That's the main thing, eh? Challenges don't have to be impressive - they just have to be there & something a person wants to &/or needs to do.
  17. Thanks, & no worries! It never hurts to ask, though. I assume that there will be days when I'll be awfully tempted to give in & have one.
  18. Way to go, Peel!! Thanks for that encouragement. Yeah, I know that people most likely wouldn't have laughed or anything like that; it was just me letting myself talk myself out of it. It was truly a mental thing. 20 February was my last Coca~Cola!! I actually don't even miss it - most of the time. So I'm doing well with that.
  19. Morwenna had woken up in the morning ready for a day of just being entertained by the box that showed moving pictures with sound that was in her living room, but after she had gone rummaging through some things and had found items that she had not been able to find for a long time but had wanted, she felt inspired to go out and move instead. She ran an errand and then went to the local gathering place with machines that helped people move and gain strength. She had wanted to do a pull up, but she felt shy about it once she was there. Instead, she did other things to move her body and to work on gaining strength. Once that was finished, she did one more errand and then headed home. Her fuzzy beast was not at the door to greet her like he usually was, but she was not surprised. He was probably curled up under the blanket on her bed. She had a shower and washed her hair, and then she went to say hello to her cat, who purred a quick greeting while making it very clear that he wanted to go back to sleep. She left him alone and then went to eat. After she finished her midday meal, she went and looked for information on how best to work towards a pull up. She was excited to find some body weight exercises to help her eventually achieve the bodyweight exercise of all bodyweight exercises. Now she knew what she had to do to reach this goal. I had originally planned to just stay in & watch the six Star Wars movies to date since I want to do that, & I had nothing planned today. I changed my mind, though, when I discovered some items in some boxes that I'd been looking for but couldn't find. Then I remembered a commitment I'd made yesterday after finding out that some friends were chipping in to pay for me to go on a retreat with my church's women on the first weekend in May. We'll be going to a camp not far away, & there will be the opportunity to do some great physical activities. So I decided to really work on getting much fitter by then. I won't overdo it, but there's no reason for me to not step it up a notch, & this is just the push I needed for that. I rode a stationery bike for 36 minutes, &, at the end, I rode the recumbent stationery bike for 5 minutes. I did various strength exercises. I had wanted to do a pull up, but I felt intimidated because of some of the other people who were in the gym and how well they were doing in their exercises. Besides, I had a feeling that I should build up to a pull up. So after I got home & washed & had some lunch, I came online to research how to get the place where I could do a pull up. So cool! There are some body weight exercises that'll help me to reach my goal. I know that once I've done one, I'll want to do more. So I'm starting on Friday to do a body weight routine to help me get to where I can do a pull up, whether it's on monkey bars or using a tree branch or in a gym.
  20. Welcome back, Blaidd!! Good to see you here! As someone who's keeping no Coca~Cola as one of her Quests, I can relate to that headache. Oh, ouch!! It does pass, though, thankfully. Since I've never been a huge coffee or tea drinker, those have never tempted me - aside from Chai. Mmmm!! You can click on this sentence to jump to my own challenge. I'm a Scout now!
  21. That's a great idea, Peel! Thanks for that. haha, Terinatum. I realised this morning that I'd forgotten to follow my own thread. Thanks for your encouragement!
  22. Whoohoo!! Every time that I remember to come & change the percentage on my days without Coca~Cola progress bar, I get all excited & proud. :D
