  1. Hi, Mal!! Welcome here! As far as I'm concerned, you're more than welcome. We've not put together set number. So please feel free to join us. Thanks for sharing a bit about your life with us. How awful about your tumour, but yay that you're on your road to recovery! What a relief that must be, eh?
  2. Hi, Xena! Thanks so much for your encouragement. While I won't be all gung ho for the entire challenge stuff, I will stick to my no Coke bit - that's the one thing I've been able to keep up with, & it is helping me a bit. There've been some changes in weather pressure here, & that's the main thing that's been affecting my migraines, but there's something else that I've not yet been able to put my finger on because they've not been this bad because of the weather yet. It might be that the stress of being jobless right now is wearing on me more than I've realised. Thanks about the log details. I appreciate that bit of info.
  3. Thanks, Blaidd. Yeah, right now I need to focus on my job hunt, along with some other stuff with which I'm busy right now. Revamping my goals might not sound like much to some people, but I'm taking this seriously while having fun with it, & I just don't have much brain space left for that right now. haha
  4. I had written in the last post here that I was going to stay in the current 6 week challenge, but after thinking more about it, I realised that it's just not something I'll be able to do. I've tried to revamp my goals to fit the 5 weeks as opposed to 6 weeks - I'm just not all that great at stuff like that. So I'll just join the next one. It is a bit disappointing, but it is what it is, & I have to do what's best for me at this time. I have a lot of other stuff going on, & my brain just isn't letting me come up with the reworking of my goals. *sigh!!*
  5. Have you thought about doing body weight exercises? They can work as well as strength training, although with your back being injured, they might not be good right now, either. Just a though. If someone else already mentioned them, sorry. I hope that your back heals soon. It's an awful thing to've happened & it affects so much of a person's life.
  6. So cool!! I love reading about what other people cook & eat. I have a mini-obsession with food, which is partly why I am where I am. haha I'm also a TV-holic & have to watch how much I watch. I have the TV on pretty well all day, but quite often I end up doing other stuff, but the TV's still on. *shrugs* I love how you do well so that you can unlock achievements. So cool! Keep up the great work!
  7. Yes, onwards & upwards. I missed pretty much all of last week due to a nasty migraine & illness, & I'd decided to quit the challenge. Then I was told that I could revamp my goals & adjust it to a 5-week challenge. So I decided to do that, yesterday. After a night of sleep & thinking about it, though, I decided to wait 'til the next challenge to start fresh. I just can't seem to figure out how to revamp my goals to adjust for the missing week. So I'm in the same boat as you. Oh, well! Things happen & we just have to press on despite them, eh? Keep pressing on - you can do this!!
  8. It sounds like you have a good plan, & way to go on meeting with a dietitian. It's a great idea if you're able to do such a thing. All the best to you!!
  9. Way to go!! It sounds like you have some great goals, & you're onto a good thing. Better to start on it now & to keep on with it than to wait 15 more years (I just turned 45 earlier this month) & to find it harder. You're at a great time to start new stuff. Keep up the great work & keep pressing on!!
  10. Yes, we do have all of those things you like to do, especially here in BC. In fact, from where I live, it's not far to places where you can do all of those.Within 2 hours from here, actually, are spots for those things. I also enjoy learning about various places in the world. If I had the money, I'd travel all over the place. I've heard of Peoria. Someone I used to know had a cousin there years ago. I've lost touch with that friend - just the way life is sometimes, eh?

  13. Yes, the weight WILL take care of itself. As you said, Habits are the means. It's better to form good habits & to work on them rather than to focus on weight loss. Weight loss IS important, but there's so much more involved in gaining fitness than just the weight that leaves us, & habits are part of that. You're doing well - keep it up!!
  14. Oh, I didn't realise that. Thanks so much, Blaidd! OK, then. I WON'T quit the challenge! I'll give things a rethink, & then I'll readjust tomorrow if I'm not able to come back tomorrow. Thanks again! That made my day more than you might realise it could. haha
  15. Hi, Xik & BlaidDrwg. I'm sorry that I've been AWOL for a while, but I had 'net problems last week & couldn't connect very often. When I could, I figured that I'd better check my email at least, & sometimes that's all that I could do. So cool that you figured out a way to have a dog go out with you as you bike, Blaid! That's so cool. If I had a basket, I'd figure out a way to take my cat out with me - he loves going for rides - & then take him for a "walk" somewhere. Of course walking a dog & a cat are two completely different things. haha I quit the current 6-week challenge since I had huge setbacks due to illness last week. I had a really nasty migraine that lasted a few days - yes, I did go to the hospital, & they gave me some stuff that helped. Then I was ill otherwise. Now I'm better, & I went for a short bike ride today. While I'm no longer in this challenge, I'm not going to stop heading towards my goals. They're too important to me, & the challenge was just a way for me to get started heading towards them. I'll join the next one. So now I'm back, & very happy to be so! How are you two?
  16. Way to go, Evermist!!!! That's so cool to see! I see by your ticker that you made it to Advanced mode, everanything. Way to go!!!!
  17. Hi, Elastigirl! Thanks for your encouragement. This past week, well, not good. First of all, I couldn't come here because of internet problems, but now they're fixed & I can return. Yay for that! Second of all, I dropped out of the challenge because I had illness that kept me from being active. It was mostly due to to a nasty migraine, but I was also ill otherwise. So because I missed a whole week of the challenge, I've quit this one. I'll join up the next one, though, & hopefully I won't be sidelined on that one, either! Hi, Lightning! Oh, this IS cool! I love that we're both Michelle & love cycling & that you'll be 45 in May. My dad's 75 birthday'll be on 30 May. Were you able to get out on your bike? I hadn't biked for ages, either, but my lack of cycling was due to work - I was working straight nights for 2 years, & then I gave in to depression, which I allowed to keep me from doing much of anything. Last summer I ended up at my heaviest weight ever, but then I got a job. During my first two months at that place of employment, I lost a lot of work. Now I'm cycling again, & I'm glad about it! I have another thread going about my ongoing time here, in case anyone's interested, & you can find it over at The Ongoing Quest Of Morwenna Gwavas. I hope y'all will join me over there.
  18. Hi, Peel! I'm so sorry that I haven't replied sooner. I've had trouble getting online for a while, & when I've been able to, it was just for a few moments at a time. So weird! Anyway, I'm here now. Thanks for following me! I'm going to catch up on your thread after this, too. So, the 6 Week Challenge - due to illness (mostly a nasty, long-lasting migraine, but also other illness) - I've had to end my involvement in the challenge. Bummer! But I'll join the next one. I'm not going to let that "blip" keep me from reaching my goals. Even though I've dropped out of the Challenge, I'm still moving towards my goals. No point in dropping it all completely just because I had to drop out, eh? Peel, yes I am from Canada. I live in the eastern bit of the gorgeous Fraser Valley, which is in southwestern BC & is a part of the Lower Mainland. I'm about 2 hours east of Vancouver. Are you from Canada, too? Tomorrow I'll return with a new narrative. I just wanted to drop in for a quick update. I hope all who read this are well!
  19. Well, I didn't return on Friday as I'd planned. I have no idea where the time on Friday went, but, well, I'm here now.

  20. Tomorrow I should be able to return to normal here. I've not been able to come here for the past few days or so - soooooooooo frustrating!!

  21. Yay!! I lost 1 kg!!

Thanks so much, Elastigirl & Lightning!! :D

  22. Hi, waywardsister! Thanks for stopping by. Those are great ideas for a log - just rambling & sharing recipes & other stuff. I might use this for that, too. So today I won't be copying my log posts from my other thread. I've had some issues with the 'net today, & I'm rather tired right now from getting in a lot of fresh air while out wandering around the south end of Harrison Lake with my mom. It's only a ten minute drive from my home, & it's beautiful there. We got some good photos, & I'm looking forward to another good sleep tonight. The walk wasn't a steady one, although we did do some. It's just the way it was. It's hard to have a consistent walking time when you stop every few seconds or so to take pictures. haha I took today off from cycling since yesterday was my first day doing that in quite a while, & it's good to take days off when getting used to using muscles that haven't been used for a while. I will go out for a ride tomorrow. Or maybe two. Tomorrow I'll copy & paste my Logs from the other post over here. I really will! haha
